A 2nd home

We have now been to Casa Bomberto for the third time - for the skeptics, to reassure you. The house is described very accurately on the corresponding websites - so maybe just a few details: the furnishings are overall very complete, the kitchen equipment is a delight for any hobby cook - nothing is missing. The beds are equipped with new, high-quality mattresses - good sleep is the result. The entire facility is very well-kept, not worn out, and indicates the constant care and maintenance by the owners. By booking the linen packages, bringing towels or bed linens is not necessary. The outdoor area is also well-maintained and something for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility. A crucial factor for some vacationers is the arrival and departure – just a note: we have been to the Casa for the third time. The forest road, which in some reviews is described as impossible to drive on (about 3 km from the village of Caldana), has been driven by us up and down 8 times this year alone. My vehicle is a VW car without all-wheel drive. Certainly, the road is not drivable in some places like a paved street – those who prefer that should not book a house in an untouched forest! We have repeatedly managed the route without issues and have also sustained no damage to our vehicle. Nature and the tranquility compensate for the small inconveniences.
Our hosts were accessible at all times and helped us with even the smallest problems. At the same time, various recommendations (catering, excursion destinations, shopping, etc.) were communicated positively.
Given the described overall circumstances, one can and must assume a very good price-performance ratio here. We would like to once again extend our heartfelt thanks to Petra and Benno Gauß as landlords and will fondly remember Casa Bomberto.

Vacation/Relaxation at Casa Bomberto

Dear Petra and dear Benno!
Our vacation in your little house, which you have furnished with so much love for detail, was simply outstanding! So relaxing, right in the woods of Tuscany, all alone among cork oaks, wild boars, and jaybirds... Just beautiful and dreamlike for a romantic getaway for two. The only challenge was really the gravel road, but our car and my husband handled it great. Maybe we will see each other again, if only it weren't so far to drive. The kitchen is very well equipped, I really enjoyed cooking here and the Weber gas grill was also amazing! Showering outside, without anyone watching, simply wonderful! The beach in Castiglione della Pescaia is about 30 minutes away by car and was very beautiful.

You can't do better!

We (63/65) have discovered a place that we thought no longer existed. For over 30 years, we have been renting holiday homes or apartments with children or grandchildren or alone in some countries. However, we have never arrived anywhere and stayed in one place without moving for two days. The silence in the dense, large forest with cork oaks, scrubland, and all kinds of other things around, the fragrant atmosphere, the many animals (hoopoe, oriole, emerald lizard, gecko, wild boar, and porcupine, etc.) fascinated us, and all we had to do was close the gate behind us, and we were already in the middle of it and just had to start walking. The entire region really offers everything from the extensive national park to wonderfully wild beaches (a paradise for "treasure hunters" like us!) to art and culture, "old stones," small picturesque villages, and a genuinely nice coastal town (Castiglione della Pescaia).
We felt 100% comfortable in the Casa near the hill Poggio Bomberto. It simply has everything, and to our great joy, even insect protection around the windows. The breakfast, the various hours, and evenings on the terrace or in front of the house overlooking the olive trees and the adjacent forest will not only remain in our minds.
The access road is varied but absolutely no reason to worry or avoid trips. In any case, we will come back next year and probably drive it even more often...

Without any problems and always very gladly again!

The town of Caldana, like many in Tuscany, is located on a hill with a beautiful old town, an impressive view of the surroundings, and a thriving and open village life. The people here are very friendly and seem to be happy. The village shops offer everything you need for your daily needs.

The accommodation is a matter of the owners' hearts. Since 2016, we have been able to spend our holidays there. From year to year, investments are made in technology, appearance, and equipment, and a lot of work and passion flow into the property. A reliable infrastructure and a secure water supply from the private well are not self-evident in this area, but they are here.

The "Casa Bomberto" is not a typical rental property, but a realized life-long dream of the owners that every guest can be a part of. The landlords are very open, warm, and friendly, and always available and helpful. The equipment far exceeds what is necessary.

The holiday experience
In complete tranquility, everyday life is quickly forgotten. The soul devotes itself to other things like the sunrise through the adjacent trees, the sounds and scents of the forest. The house and garden offer a perfect ambiance to enjoy the area and its culinary specialties and to completely relax.

The access road is often criticized, but ultimately it is not a real problem. The width of the paths is completely sufficient, and there is now a drainage system in place. The route is mostly covered with gravel and crushed stone. Only at two points do tree roots or flat stones protrude, where it is advisable to drive at a slow speed. But that doesn't bother the car - your vehicle can handle it, even without all-wheel drive. For someone who knows and controls their vehicle, it can even be fun.

Casa Bomberto is a wonderful house.

We (human & dog) felt very welcome. The whole house is lovingly furnished. The equipment is very comfortable. The bedrooms are spacious. There are several seating areas outside. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you will find it here. Caldana is a good starting point for culture and beaches.

The hosts are extremely friendly, helpful, and available for questions at any time. We were very well informed from the booking onwards. The somewhat demanding access road was discussed early on in a personal conversation. Our station wagon managed it well.

We had a nice vacation :-)

5 stars are not enough

We, three Berliners including our 8-year-old son, were in Italy for the first time and struck gold with Casa Bomberto (and its landlords) through extensive research and reading many, many reviews: The Casa is theoretically located near Caldana, a small, pretty town on a hill in the Maremma. In practice, there is still a small hurdle for visitors. The road from Caldana to the house leads through a bright and yet wild forest, which, however, you can easily navigate after a few days. (unless you drive through with a lowered sports car).
The garden, in which Casa Bomberto has made itself comfortable, is huge. It smells of lavender everywhere and you can immediately see with what love and care the garden has been laid out. Everywhere there are small oases of calm and comfortable places with sun umbrellas or pavilions. Simply great.
I can rightly claim that you will not find a better-equipped house. Everything is there. And when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING. Especially in terms of kitchen equipment, there are no wishes left unfulfilled. I can't think of a kitchen appliance that wasn't there. In addition, everything is of excellent quality, because Petra's passion is cooking. What should we cook or grill? This question never arose for us, because Casa has countless cookbooks for every taste. As well as crime novels and children's books.
I could continue writing pages and pages, but unfortunately, the input mask does not allow that...
But we would like to thank Petra and Benno once again. They love the region and gladly pass that on. Such helpful and nice landlords are hard to find. I believe I could have even written to them at night to ask where to find the best ice cream in Pitigliano or Siena, and I would have quickly received an answer.

All in all a misunderstanding.

The access was catastrophic, essentially unacceptable, as at times we had only inches of space on the left and right, with either ditches or deep valleys otherwise. This severely limited our activities. As for the description given by the landlady, we must assume a long-standing habit of repression on her part.
Therefore, even though the house is tastefully decorated and well-equipped, we simply cannot recommend it.

Time travel to Tuscany.

We have been to Tuscany several times, but also traveled to France, but we have never had such a wonderful vacation home. It's equipped with everything that is necessary. The location is beautiful...if you are looking for peace and quiet, away from the normal madness, you will find paradise here. And now, the landlords, what can I say...we never had such caring, courteous and helpful landlords. If there were questions about something, contact was made immediately. The approach is a bit bumpy, but everyone can handle A6. We would have liked to stay here...oh, almost forgot...our dog also liked it here very much...

Primavera 2024: Spring 2024

What would our lives be without vacation time? Without the quiet days when the world appears in a different light? What without the scent of early roses and without the full aroma of strawberries? The moments in which one can truly enjoy all of this are far too rare. It is May in Tuscany and the days are fresh and clear after numerous rainfalls. We are sitting on the wind-protected covered terrace of casa bomberto, philosophizing over a glass of Tuscan wine, which always awaits us here as a greeting, and come to the conclusion that our stay in the Maremma and especially the vacation in this tasteful vacation home, where we lack nothing, grounds us and gives us strength for the return to our homeland. We have already spent our vacations at casa bombeto several times, so we know the "road conditions" exactly! We do not drive an SUV, just a normal car with four wheels that has always safely brought us to our destination so far! In the midst of nature

The holiday home is one of the best equipped holiday homes we have ever booked. The equipment is really excellent. It was the first time we didn't need our own knives. We enjoyed using the different terraces, depending on the time of day and the position of the sun. Even when it rained, we enjoyed our meal on the covered terrace.
Only the gravel road through the forest to the house and we did not become friends. Mrs. Gauss had pointed out the road to us in advance, but our station wagon was not really suitable for the road.

enjoy together - italian moments

There is this moment when we sit on the terrace of Casa Bomberto again: The sun's warmth of the day still radiates off the stone floor and then a breeze of holiday wafts through the air. It is the smell of grilled fish with a hint of garlic and lemon that we have prepared on the great gas grill. Tonight the holiday mood takes its place at the table and we drink to the special well-being of our hosts who have once again made this special house available to us. And, dear family G., you have succeeded in the promised surprise! You know, we never had any problems driving the natural road from Caldana to the casa, even though we don't drive an SUV. Nevertheless, we are happy that this year at least half of the road has been professionally repaired by a road construction company. Many thanks for that! Holiday Pure

Paradise on earth

We spent two wonderful weeks at Casa Bomberto with our children (7 1/2 and just under 10). The summer of 2022 was a real hot one, it was between 35-40 degrees the whole time, at night it only cooled down to just under 30 degrees. Nevertheless, we skipped the sea every now and then for a day and stayed "at home". We all enjoyed the wonderful garden with its humming and chirping so much, no beach, no matter how beautiful, can compete with that.

We also used the great cooker, oven and grill every day to the hilt and were delighted with the high quality. The fact that there are also so many games, children's furniture, a library and lots of candles and tasteful decorative items makes it very easy to feel at home from the first moment. We also used the washing machine in the heat - what a pity, I can't always hang laundry in the middle of olive trees!

It's certainly the case that you have to like the remoteness, you don't walk the off-road route several times a day. We don't have a 4-wheel drive, with calm and skill my husband was able to drive the bumpy natural road well, but I didn't trust myself to do it. But as I said, once you're there, you don't want to leave the property anyway.

We will definitely come back, we had to promise our girls :-) Thank you very much for the warm welcome with wine and syrup and jam - what more could you wish for!

Summer days in Tuscany - Italian way of life with heart.

Just a few kilometers from the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the Maremma, stands Casa Bomberto, surrounded by a large garden in pristine nature. Here you can enjoy the summer break near the sea or the lake (Lago dell'Accesa), away from the hustle and bustle but with warmth. The coastal town of Follonica or the port city of Castiglione della Pescaia are quickly accessible. For us beach returnees, there is hardly anything cozier than relaxing on the loungers in a dreamy spot under the old trees. Even more wonderful are the warm summer nights with wine and the fabulous little things from the super-equipped kitchen. The romantic atmosphere under the fairy lights is perfect. House abundantly equipped in a quiet forest

The Casa Bomberto is located very secluded in the middle of the forest and yet is fully equipped like a complete household, it lacks virtually nothing. Particularly noteworthy is the new, abundantly equipped kitchen, which offers everything for guests who enjoy cooking a lot. But also the covered veranda and the spacious garden with many high-quality wooden furniture and comfortable loungers are unusual for a holiday home. The garden shower was very pleasant for us after long walks in the forest or other trips. The booked linen packages were very generous, and thanks to the good washing machine, we didn't need to bring so much. The house is not only quiet but also still; you only hear the sounds of nature or very occasionally a plane. Bikers or occasional motor vehicles pass by very rarely. Regarding the vehicle: The forest road that Mrs. Gauß specifically pointed out was actually not suitable for our 1-series BMW, but we have plenty of experience with difficult roads so we attempted it. However, I would also like to stress that one should think twice about whether they want to take this road with their car. On both trips with luggage, I had to get out and walk at two spots. Since we already know much about Tuscany, we only went on excursions about every other day and otherwise enjoyed the garden and walks in the forest or to the village. But if you want to go to the seaside for a quick aperitif without worries, it's better to look for different accommodation unless you have a truly off-road vehicle.
The process was still "old school" with key handover by post, but everything went well.

From the first contact to returning the keys, everything went as one would wish. We felt completely comfortable in Casa Bomberto, we lacked nothing. Endlich wieder Sommer

August in Maremma - a touch of coolness, time stands still.

Wonderful, this languid longing for endless summer.

Afternoon siesta and a glass of wine on the west terrace of Casa Bomberto.

We had already booked for last year in 2019. The pandemic got in the way.

Once again, heartfelt thanks to the delightful landlords who simply rebooked our vacation to 2021 without any additional costs for us. Rita, the "good soul" of the house, brought us olive oil, sun-ripened tomatoes, and a large watermelon from which we made a wonderful melon punch.

We are thrilled by the new luxury kitchen that Frau Petra raved about. New beautiful doors were installed and some new furniture was purchased, which fits perfectly with the style of this Mediterranean house. For us, this house is the perfect place to relax and we gladly come back to this enchanting place, which is nurtured and maintained by its owners.

An island of relaxation

After a hectic and exciting time that has dominated our daily life, we arrive seeking relaxation at Casa Bomberto.

We let the house and the large garden take effect on us. Due to the many positive reviews and the refreshing phone call with Mrs. G. , who advised us, I quote - "andante instead of prestissimo - simply set your own pace to relax", we had chosen this enchanting house for our autumn vacation and were not disappointed.

We have rarely stayed in a holiday home that is so tastefully and cozily furnished as this casa. Everything is harmoniously coordinated.

Mrs. G. was right. Here it is easy for us to let go, and we quickly succumb to the charm of this rural idyll. The weather is still very warm at the beginning of October, so we can spend many hours on the nearby very clean beaches, which are now almost deserted in the off-season!

Immer wieder

And yes, we were here again this year. The Maremma is simply a unique landscape with so many facets where there is always something to discover, enjoy, experience, and try out. The Casa is the oasis where one loves to return and can end the day so wonderfully with a glass of wine on one of the terraces. The hosts make sure that the residents lack nothing. The kitchen is well-equipped and of high quality, which applies to the entire tasteful furnishings of the house. All senses are addressed with colors, shapes, images, and scents. With a book from the extensive "library" or just for dreaming, a sunny or shady spot can be found around the house at any time of day, surrounded by wonderful nature. Yes, the house is truly a little oasis, and our heartfelt thanks go to the hosts who allow us to be part of it.

The joy of summer

Dear friends who have already visited casa bomberto several times, rave about the house, the countryside, the people, and the friendly landlords, so we became curious and spent our holiday in 2019 in this beautiful, Mediterranean house in southern Tuscany.

After a detailed phone call with the humorous sig. Troveggi, who has brought joy to us with his anecdotes, we arrived at casa bomberto. The accommodation is lovingly decorated, the surroundings enchanting, and the landlords are extremely kind. We have enjoyed our time there very much and will definitely come back. Petra, who described the streets to us in "lustrous colors," only granted us access to the country house for our vacation after we could convincingly assure her that we and our VW Passat had no thoughts of escape and that we could spare 15 minutes and endure a difficult journey of about 3 km to then enjoy the promised tranquility of the secluded location. We, like so many guests before us, are enthusiastic about the charm of this enchanting and beautifully furnished holiday home, which is imbued with the personality of the owners, so much so that we immediately booked another stay for 2020 on site. One of the most beautiful things for us were the mild evenings with good food and a fine wine on the covered terrace. One looks into the garden landscape, artfully illuminated by numerous solar lamps, a gentle breeze carries the scent of lavender and rosemary, and we listen to the concert of the cicadas.

A light net with hundreds of tiny light bodies illuminates the terrace, we lose track of time and observe numerous geckos hunting on the walls. The holidays pass by much too quickly, and we look forward to repeating this successful vacation next year.

Lovingly renovated and equipped house in a truly secluded location

My children, my husband, our dogs, and I spent a wonderful week in the house, which was truly secluded as we had hoped. The house is not only furnished with high-quality furniture but also abundantly equipped with everything needed for daily life, from plenty of dishes to reading material and DVDs for adults and children, as well as games and toys. . .
We especially enjoyed the covered terrace, where our dogs could move freely on the property. The garden around the house is lovingly arranged, surrounded by real wonderful wilderness. The location is actually very good, nearby there are shopping possibilities and wonderful sandy beaches, but you should be equipped with an off-road vehicle to handle the access. All in all, wonderful.

Peace and seclusion, generosity and hospitality.

If you don't mind a 3 km ski run and the associated approximately 15 minutes of driving time, you will find a real gem at Petra and Benno's Casa Bomberto: an inside and outside lovingly restored, comfortable, and cozy house with flowers, bushes, trees, and spices, with cicadas, lizards, and geckos - in short: with plenty of Tuscan nature - and ample space on the large plot located in the midst of a light mixed forest. Everything a comfortable holiday without a pool needs is available in and around the house, from diverse high-quality kitchen utensils to a rich library for reading relaxing and modern (mostly crime) fiction, travel guides, cookbooks, DVDs, and much more.

The fact that the hosts simply provide a table tennis table upon request is more than unusual and is just a sign of the generosity of the Gauss family. No matter what it was about, Petra was also available for advice and assistance via Whatsapp in an unobtrusive manner.

Furthermore, Petra is also very well organized - the individually compiled and sent information about the house in advance leaves no question unanswered. Also, many items for daily life (e.g. dishwasher tabs) are freely available in the house.

We have not experienced all of this with a rental through a portal before. And we can not only thank them, but wholeheartedly recommend Petra's and Benno's vacation offer.

It takes about a good 30 minutes to get to the sea, but there are very beautiful beaches. And the Lago d'Accesa, which is only 20 kilometers away near Massa Marittima, is a particularly beautifully located and clear lake, a real highlight for children.

Relaxing vacation with dogs

We have now been to this beautiful, cozy Tuscan house for the second time. Everything is decorated with a lot of love and some renovations or enhancements have been made since last year. Once again, we were able to relax with our dogs and take long walks in the forest. It is absolutely private there, very rarely do joggers or mountain bikers pass by. The friendly contact with the landlords is already remarkable, and one can approach them at any time - we feel very welcome there. If you are looking for peace, this is the right place.

Dear Petra, dear Benno,

Rarely have we felt as welcome and cared for in a holiday home as we did with you. Thank you so much for everything!

We felt right at home. The kitchen really offers everything one could wish for, starting with the large fridge, the great gas stove, the dishwasher, and the many little helpers – not to mention the countless cooking inspirations (meaning cookbooks – if I had spent the entire 14 days poring over cookbooks, I wouldn't have finished). Even for the remaining literature available, we could have stayed for at least 2 more years (and I am a bookworm!). The two TVs were only used briefly to see what was going on in the world - and quickly we returned to the beautiful garden or the shady terrace. There was always something to hear or see outside, and on the lovingly designed terrace, one sits protected from rain or sun. Directly in front of the door, we were able to immerse ourselves with our dog in the forest full of cork oaks, ferns... and take long walks in the shady greenery.
So we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - not least because of the great beds - I have never slept so well and deeply in a "foreign" bed.
Again, thank you for letting us "borrow" your little paradise - we loved it all around!

Willkommen auf dem Land

Welcome to the countryside

For years now, we have been spending a few days in Casa Bomberto in early spring.
As always, Signora Petra has thought of everything. Thoughtfully prepared little details, together with the luxurious ambiance, make up the charm of this country house.
The days are sunny and mild, the park-like garden is green and blooming, and against the backdrop of the flowering nature, we enjoy relaxed hours in the comfortable deck chairs with our favorite authors. In the meantime, the library has become so extensive that we can be surprised and always find the right reading there. On the cool evenings, the tiled stove spreads cozy warmth, and it's fun to cook together in the fully equipped kitchen. Mrs. Petra collects cookbooks, and with each stay, we look forward to the new additions to her passion. The new 4-burner gas grill deserves special attention, which is easy to use and delivers very tasty results. We sincerely thank the G. family for their hospitality and look forward to our next stay in October 2019 in the CB.

Cozy little paradise

is a perfectly equipped, exceptionally well-maintained, and lovingly furnished house. Our grandchildren love it because it offers everything to small children as well. Shared meals on one of the terraces, pure nature, own furniture, children's books, tent, and the carefree rocking in the shade of the olive tree make it simply "cool" for them. Small adventures are nearby, such as the wonderful, clean sandy beach of Castiglione or the small mountain railway of Campiglia. Even the garden of Niki de St. Phalle, in its extravagant diversity, is a delight for her.

Everyone can find their own holiday joy there in harmony with nature and culture, for which the house provides a cozy base.

And always, always again

Since 2013, we have been coming back to Casa Bomberto every year, the first few years in the fall, now for the 2nd time in early summer. A dream, otherwise we wouldn't come back again and again! As a surprise, there are changes and improvements in the house and garden every time that one would not have expected; however, the level of furnishings remains consistently high, with good beds and a cozy living room, stylish curtains and pictures, optimal kitchen equipment including cookbooks, dishes, glasses, cutlery, pots and pans, stove, kitchen appliances, and more. A house with a garden and terraces where one can feel comfortable both indoors and outdoors, pure relaxation from the first minute on! There are plenty of excursion options, nature like the nature reserve and natural beach of Maremma which are great for hiking, Etruscan excavations like Vetulonia, Roselle, and Populonia, charming towns perched on hills with their castles, good and affordable restaurants for those who want to avoid cooking. One just has to immerse oneself in the country and its people and be willing to go on a discovery tour, then everyone will find their relaxing dream vacation here in this lonely, stylishly cozy house in the forest.

Love for detail...Pure nature.

We noticed from the latest reviews that the access road to Casa Bomberto is repeatedly mentioned. For us, this is not comprehensible! Our Fiat Panda had absolutely no issues navigating the gravel road. In around 10-15 minutes, you can drive from Caldana to Casa Bomberto. Oncoming traffic was not a problem as there are enough passing opportunities available. Before the trip, we received detailed information from the landlords not only about the location but also about Casa Bomberto. And so we spent a dreamily beautiful and relaxing vacation. The house is decorated with attention to detail. In the kitchen, you'll find brands like Le Creuset, Villeroy Boch... It's simply a true pleasure to enjoy a good drop of Chianti from an elegant wine glass. In the fully equipped kitchen, with a variety of cookbooks and numerous Tuscan specialties, you can let your culinary creativity run wild. Whether a reverse-cooked "bistecca alla fiorentina" or a simple pasta dish… everything is possible. Casa Bomberto is also an ideal starting point for sightseeing tours to explore the beauty of Tuscany. We experienced amazing sunrises, impressive sunsets, and an unforgettable starry sky. We can only recommend Casa Bomberto and thank the G. family with all our hearts!
