Fancy a holiday in a mountain hut?
Or would you prefer a holiday flat? Both are available. If you want to spend a holiday in Bad Harzburg at a reasonable price and still don't want to miss out on comfort, then you've come to the right place. I could offer you my holiday flat (for 1 - 2 persons, approx. 28 m², with double bed (1.60 x 2.00 m)) or my holiday home! The holiday flat has its own covered terrace with garden furniture and a storage room. The holiday home "Walnut Cottage" is suitable for 1-2 persons (or a small family - 2 adults and 1 child), as it has a bunk bed (80 cm x 2 m) in addition to the double bed (1.40 x 2.00 m).
Both the apartment and the holiday home have a kitchenette and a shower room (the shower in the apartment has been barrier-free since 2017). Furthermore, SAT/TV and radio are available. Although the units are small, everything is available that larger flats can also offer. The holiday home and flat have been rated with two stars.
Bad Harzburg is located in the middle between Wernigerode and Goslar and therefore offers the ideal starting point for exploring the Harz mountains. You will stay in a quiet location near the racecourse, the stud meadows, the Silberborn baths and the and around Bad Harzburg there are ideal hiking possibilities in addition to the many other excursion destinations that you will find on my homepage. I would also like to mention equestrian sports, golf, swimming (including brine baths), sauna, biking etc.
The spa card entitles you to use the city bus free of charge. If you are travelling by train, you can also reach the city centre and the spa zone from here by bus or on foot, but you can stay with me much cheaper than in the middle of the information is available here:

Location and surroundings of object
You live in the Bündheim district. Bad Harzburg and Bündheim merge seamlessly. Bündheim already begins at the railway station. You live exactly 1.5 km from the station. The Walnut Cottage is in my garden in a residential area. The Glück Auf apartment is in the basement of my semi-detached house.
The shopping street (Herzog-Wilhelm-str.) of Bad Harzburg starts at the railway station and ends in the pedestrian zone with the adjacent spa park. The Herzog-Wilhelmstr. is also approx. 1.5 m long. Near the accommodation you will find the racecourse (one of the most beautiful natural racecourses in Germany), the stud meadows, the sports park and the Silberbornbad. Furthermore, you can reach the town and spa centre comfortably and free of charge by bus (because the spa card entitles you to do so) if you don't want to walk. Its sub-montane, stimulating climate and its seven healing springs are the basis for the existence of the state-recognised spa and the unique facilities of Bad Harzburg in the Harz Mountains include the attractive brine spa with its own sulphur brine spring, the historic Wandelhalle in the bathing park with the Heilbrunnen-Ausschank, the new spa centre, the international casino, the large cable car to the great Burgberg, the wonderfully situated golf course, the thoroughbred stud farm with its beautiful stud meadows and Germany's most beautiful natural gallop racecourse. The cable car that floats up to the historic Burgberg mountain opens up an unspoilt hiking area between the Harz foreland and the High Harz mountains.

| For an occupancy of one person, the rental price from 5 nights is 26 euros per night. Each additional person costs 5 euros per night. In terms of sustainability and to avoid many changes and thus many contacts, I think it makes sense to only offer slightly longer rentals (5 nights or more). This is also in the interest of the guests. Just take your time to slow down, to discover and enjoy the Harz mountains and nature. |
Cancellation terms:
Extract from my General Terms and Conditions: 5. Cancellation by the tenant (Note: The regulations mentioned here apply only if, for example, the booking was made directly with the landlord or if no other arrangements exist. Other arrangements could exist, for example, when booking via an online portal such as VRBO, Booking.com, or through Bad Harzburg etc. In those cases, their terms apply.) a) The tenant can cancel the lease prior to the start of the rental period by written statement to the landlord. The decisive factor is the time at which the cancellation notice is received by the landlord. b) If the tenant cancels the lease, he is to provide flat-rate compensation for the expenses already incurred by the landlord and the lost profit in the following amounts: Cancellation up to the 45th day before the start of the rental period: 20% (but at least 25 EURO) Cancellation up to the 35th day before the start of the rental period: 50% Thereafter and in case of no-show: 90% c) The tenant retains the right to prove that no damage or significantly less damage was incurred by the landlord. d) Upon cancellation, the tenant may nominate a replacement tenant who is willing to take his place under the existing contract. Ein Urlaub muss nicht immer teuer sein, auch wenn man bestimmte Standards erwartet. Diese kleine aber feine Ferienwohnung bietet oft mehr als manch eine größere Ferienwohnung, da alles bis aus das letzte Detail gut durchdacht ist.
Die Fewo Glück Auf ist ein Beispiel dafür, dass dies selbst in Bad Harzburg noch möglich ist.

Finally peace with Mr. Ruhe
After nearly 2 years without a vacation, finally a bit of distance from everyday life in the scenic beautiful Harz mountains and a quiet cabin surrounded by greenery, super practical (and modern) furnished, great hiking trails nearby, lovely destinations already on the way there and a very nice and courteous host, helpful and knowledgeable in our planning (expert in hiking). Always recommended for solo travelers, couples, or a small family who love and appreciate the simple life.

Ein einfacher Lebensstil bringt es vielleicht auf den Punkt - quasi wieder ein Stück zurück zur Natur. Eine Hütte mit viel Komfort, gemütlich eingerichtet - dennoch aber kein Appartement o.ä. Hier wird ein einfacher Lebensstil gespickt mit vielen Informationen (wenn man denn interessiert ist) gepflegt und ich gebe Ihnen gern Tipps, um den Harz, den Nationalpark, die Natur zu entdecken und wer mag, darf gern mit mir mitwandern, wenn es zeitlich passt.

Family with 8 year old child
It was a lovely winter holiday in the small but really fine Walnut Cottage. We found everything we needed here, it was clean, well-maintained and surrounded by a wintery snow-covered garden. In addition, the hut is also wonderfully quiet due to its location. Mr. Ruhe :) was also very helpful and friendly
We will be very happy to come back.

Aufgrund des Klimawandels ist der Schnee nicht mehr so regelmäßig vorhanden. Hier passte es mal im Februar und die Walnuss Hütte im Garten wirkte sehr winterlich.
Hilfsbereitschaft ist für mich selbstverständlich. Und wenn ich es am Wochenende z.B. einrichten kann, hole ich Bahngäste auch gern vom Bahnhof ab.

It is a beautiful vacation rental. Nothing is missing, and you can reach and do a lot from Bad Harzburg. It's really worth it.

Bad Harzburg liegt am Eingang des Harzes zum Torfhaus und Braunlage und befindet sich mitten zwischen zwei wunderschönen Fachwerkstädten wie z.B. Goslar und Wernigerode und stellt somit einen idealen Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in die Umgebung dar.
Die kleine Fewo Glück Auf mit ihrer neuen barriefreien Dusche bietet Vieles, was Sie sonst nur in einer großen Ferienwohnung vorfinden.

Small but nice
We, a couple in our early 50s, have been coming to the Harz Mountains for several years to visit the Christmas market in Goslar. Since the accommodation costs on-site became too expensive for us, we decided to look online and came across Mr. Ruhr's Walnut Hut, which we have booked twice now and would like to rent again next year. The hut is small but well-equipped and clean. And honestly, who needs a 4-star hotel where the toilet paper is folded or a daisy floating in the toilet? Most of the time you are out and about, and I close my eyes at night ;-) The cabin is centrally located so you can easily visit other places from there. If you need tips, you can contact Mr. Ruhe. He has plenty of tips and advice ready. The Glück Auf apartment is also recommended. This was rented by our friends with whom we traveled together.

„Klein aber fein“ ist zutreffend und das zu einem günstigen Preis. Ich habe die Hütte so eingerichtet, dass ich sagen kann, die würde ich selbst gern buchen.
Und oft ist es ja so, dass man vor Ort meist nur gezeigt bekommt, wo die Unterkunft ist und das war es dann. Ich versuche (wenn das Interesse beim Gast auch da ist) dem Gast auch etwas über die vielen Möglickeiten (Ausflüge, Sehenswürdigkeiten, Wanderungen etc.) vor Ort etwas zu erzählen und lasse mir dabei auch Zeit und biete an, mich zu fragen, wenn weitere Informationen benötigt werden und/oder wenn etwas unklar ist und/oder wenn es Fragen und Probleme zur Unterkunft gibt.
