We have redefined the cottage holiday in the Salzburg Saalach Valley and created a place of peace and relaxation for you with a lot of heart and soul. So that the most precious days of the year - namely your holiday in the Salzburger Saalachtal - really become a relaxation.
Our heritage farm in Unken, which has been in the family since 1380, is located away from the noise and the daily hustle and bustle. Nestled in the mountains of the Salzburg Saalach Valley, surrounded by lush meadows and pastures, we are situated on a slight hilltop with a fantastic view. The farm with its historical outbuildings, most of which have been preserved in their original state (the "Hühnerstall" alpine hut is one of them), as well as its own chapel, forms an independent little hamlet without any direct neighbours. Our alpine hut in Unken offers space for 4 people (2 double rooms), a cot can also be provided if required.
Feel-good holiday in Unken in Salzburg's Saalach Valley
If you can't do without entertainment, parties and lots of neighbours on holiday, you don't need to read any further, because here at the Soderhof in Unken there is above all a lot of peace and quiet, sunshine when it shines, our sheep on the doorstep, and lots of countryside all around. You can simply enjoy the day, watch the animals graze and start the barbecue on your own terrace. Or, you can "force" the surrounding mountains on foot, by bike, or a real feel-good holiday in the middle of the nature of the Saalach valley.
Holidays and activities in Unken & surroundings
Visit numerous bathing lakes and thermal baths in the surrounding area during your summer holiday, open-air and indoor swimming pools in the village, the festival city of Salzburg on your doorstep, as well as several large skiing areas such as the skiing area in the Heutal or the Almenwelt Lofer, are just a small excerpt of the possibilities and activities you have. And then in the evening "home" to your own holiday chalet. Heat up the oven and enjoy yourself.
We "the Soders" would like to make your holiday in the Salzburger Saalachtal a dream holiday, from which you do not come rushed, but really relaxed and recovered home.
Alpine hut "Hühnerstall am Soderhof" to feel good in Unken
Here in the henhouse, built in 1902, were - what a surprise - formerly our egg producers quartered. There is also an old "Selche" (smokehouse), as well as a storeroom
We have been planning for years to make something out of this beautiful old building and so the idea arose to let others share in our incredible living quality and to make an "Almhütte" out of it
The old building was demolished and all parts - spared from woodworm - were brought to safety. After all supply lines were hidden in the ground and modern foundations were built, the restoration could begin
According to the old model and well hidden modern comfort, our "chicken coop" was rebuilt. The Almhütte in Unken offers a spacious room with real old furniture, an antique wooden stove, which is not only beautiful and warms the room, but on which you can also cook properly. Two double bed "Kammerl", a luxurious bathroom with its own tiled stove, a huge walk in shower, extra toilet and for cold winter days of course underfloor heating and direct access to your own sauna. In front of the cottage there is a large partially covered terrace with access to the outdoor sauna. In summer, the terrace invites you to barbecue and sunbathe, and a garden shower ensures you cool off after the sauna.
A cottage holiday in Unken also means self-catering. You fetch your own wood into the hut, you heat it yourself, you clean it yourself (of course we do), you clear the snow on your terrace yourself,... If you need us we are there for you, if not, we let you holiday in peace and feel good with us.

Cancellation terms:
Here is the translation to English: The tenant can cancel the rental agreement free of charge up to 90 days before the arrival date. In this case, the deposit will be refunded minus a processing fee of 15% of the rental amount. If the tenant cancels between 90 and 60 days before the arrival date, a cancellation fee of 30% of the rental price (the deposit) is due. If cancellation occurs 60 days or less before the arrival date, or on the arrival date itself, the full rental price remains payable. The decisive factor is the receipt of your notification by the landlord, the Soder family (on Sundays and public holidays, the next working day is decisive). If we succeed in renting the booked or cancelled capacity to other guests, the cancellation fee will be waived. Any processing fees will be deducted directly from the deposit. We recommend taking out travel cancellation or trip interruption insurance.

Superb
We would have liked to extend our stay with two kids at Soderhof indefinitely. The chicken coop has an incredibly great atmosphere, an amazing view, and a lot of peace. Plus, wonderful hosts. Simply great!

The hut is extremely clean and in perfect condition.
Anyone looking for a quiet vacation is in the right place here.
The area is great for hiking and biking.

High-quality holiday home in the mountains
Our stay at the "Kuhstall" at Soderhof in Unkenberg was completely successful. The accommodation is spacious and equipped to a high standard. The kitchen features a stone countertop and Miele appliances. The bathroom has a very large walk-in shower with a rain shower function. Additionally, there were two toilets (1 separate, 1 in the bathroom) as well as a sauna with space for four to six people. The hot tub on our terrace was brand new and was available only for us! On the upper floor, there are two spacious bedrooms with access to the large balcony, from which the sunrise can be observed in the morning with a view of the mountains. Our requests, such as a high chair for children, were immediately addressed, and there was also an extra changing area available. For children, there are many play options outside, such as swings, a climbing tower, ride-on cars, shovels, etc. We received 4 towels per person, and dish towels are also available in the kitchen. Additionally, there is a washing machine as well as a cordless vacuum cleaner.
Overall, we found the holiday home very clean from the landlord with small gestures as a welcome greeting.

Come down into the nature of the Saalachtal
The chicken coop at Soderhof is perfect for unwinding in nature.
The cozy house, not large but modern and practically extended and expanded, is equipped with everything one needs in a holiday apartment. The living room is cozy, and the two bedrooms are practical.
The absolute highlight of our summer vacation was the large terrace with a view of nature. It is wonderfully relaxing there, as it is partially covered, even in light rain. The bathtub and the sauna offer the perfect complement for a relaxing time.
In addition, the Saalachtal offers many hiking opportunities and great leisure activities. No mass tourism, but a relaxed atmosphere everywhere.

Family vacation
We spent a very relaxing and restful vacation in the holiday apartment Kuhstall. The Soderhof is located on the mountain a bit outside the village, providing absolute peace. One can start beautiful hikes directly from the farm.
The apartment is lovingly furnished and well-equipped (dishes, pots, sufficient towels, dishwasher tabs, coffee filters). We lacked nothing.
The whirlpool was the highlight for the children. To welcome us, there were ham, eggs, jam, vinegar, and fruit brandy from our own production ready. Additionally, we were occasionally surprised with delicious homemade treats. We were very pleased about that.
Many thanks to the Soder family for this great apartment. We felt very comfortable with you.
