We have redefined the cottage holiday in the Salzburg Saalach Valley and created a place of peace and relaxation for you with a lot of heart and soul. So that the most precious days of the year - namely your holiday in the Salzburger Saalachtal - really become a relaxation.
Our heritage farm in Unken, which has been in the family since 1380, is located away from the noise and the daily hustle and bustle. Nestled in the mountains of the Salzburg Saalach Valley, surrounded by lush meadows and pastures, we are situated on a slight hilltop with a fantastic view. The farm with its historical outbuildings, most of which have been preserved in their original state, as well as its own chapel, forms an independent little hamlet without any direct neighbours. The holiday apartment "Kuhstall" offers space for up to 6 people in 2 bedrooms.
Feel-good holiday in Unken in Salzburg's Saalach Valley
If you can't do without entertainment, parties and lots of neighbours on holiday, you don't need to read any further, because here at the Soderhof in Unken there is above all a lot of peace and quiet, sunshine when it shines, our sheep on the doorstep, and lots of countryside all around. You can simply enjoy the day, watch the animals graze and start the barbecue on your own terrace. Or, you can "force" the surrounding mountains on foot, by bike, or a real feel-good holiday in the middle of the nature of the Saalach valley.
Holidays and activities in Unken & surroundings
Visit numerous bathing lakes and thermal baths in the surrounding area during your summer holiday, open-air and indoor swimming pools in the village, the festival city of Salzburg on your doorstep, as well as several large skiing areas such as the skiing area in the Heutal or the Almenwelt Lofer, are just a small excerpt of the possibilities and activities you have. And then in the evening "home" to your own holiday chalet. Heat up the oven and enjoy yourself.
We "the Soders" would like to make your holiday in the Salzburger Saalachtal a dream holiday, from which you do not come rushed, but really relaxed and recovered home.
The "Kuhstall" is located on the east side of our farmhouse and extends over 2 floors. On the ground floor you enter the living area of the holiday apartment via your own spacious wooden terrace. Cosy corner bench with tiled stove, beautiful kitchen with all necessary accessories (dishwasher, induction stove, coffee machine, toaster, kettle, fridge with freezer compartment, basic equipment of spices that you like to forget at home).
Next is the large bathroom with 2 sinks, floor-level shower, extra toilet and the great Klafs sauna with old wood furnishings. From the bathroom you can also go directly to the terrace (for example to cool off in the snow after the sauna in winter).
A small hallway leads to the toilet - where you will also find a washer-dryer - and the stairs to the upper floor.
Upstairs there are the 2 bedrooms with a large balcony in front. There is a satellite TV in each room and of course free Wi-Fi.
The holiday home is largely furnished with original old farmhouse furniture. In summer there is a Weber gas grill on the terrace and we also have a place to make a campfire.

Just outside the village of Unken, on the beautiful Unkenberg lies our organic farm. With some historical outbuildings we form our own little hamlet. The chicken coop is one of the buildings. Unken - The gateway to Pinzgau
Welcome to Unken - the gateway to the Pinzgau! Unken is with 109 km2 a large community, but has only 2000 inhabitants. And this is where our strength lies: natural landscapes, forests and picturesque mountain panoramas await you on your holiday in Unken in Salzburg's Saalach Valley!
St. James' Way and St. James' Church
In Unken rises the beautiful baroque church from the 18th century. It is dedicated to St. James and attracts many pilgrims who are on the Way of St. James. Marvel at the imposing building and enjoy the peace and quiet in the Jakobskirche.
Activities in Unken
Unken is especially popular with our holiday guests because of the numerous, beautiful hiking trails and the exciting mountain ranges for mountaineering and climbing. Explore the nature of the Salzburg Saalach Valley by bike or mountain bike, as our biking routes are also fabulously developed. The bike tours lead as far as neighbouring Bavaria or Tyrol.
If you prefer action, you can try a rafting or canyoning tour on the Saalach. Trained staff will guide you through the white water.
A winter holiday in Unken also pays off - the small ski area Heutal is ideal for families and also offers an altitude trail for cross-country skiers and numerous opportunities for ski tourers. Warm up in the sauna of the Alpenbad Unken, or take a few laps in the indoor pool.
Culinary delights in Unken
Our long-established innkeepers are always eager to serve you culinary delights from the region. Delicacies from the Pinzgau cuisine as well as international dishes can be found on the menus. And the right wine accompaniment or a freshly tapped beer from the Salzburger Land should not be missing.

Super accommodation
Great accommodation, quiet and relaxing, very nice view. The rooms as well as the terrace are clean and very well maintained. This also applies to the great sauna area.
The host family is very friendly and helpful.
CONCLUSIONS:
Recommendable and anytime again!
