Comfortable holiday flat for up to 4 people
The bright and friendly holiday flat has a large south and west-facing terrace and a roof terrace. Both terraces are furnished and offer an unobstructed view over the beautiful property and the countryside. This is a place to unwind. Two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms one en-suite, a comfort kitchen and a spacious living and dining area on about 80 sqm. The terraces are accessible via large floor-standing patio doors and together with the interiors form a large cohesive living space. Fly screens, also in front of the large patio doors, ensure that the little pests stay outside and do not spoil your holiday enjoyment. The traditional lime and trowel plaster is painted with a biological clay paint. St. Catarina terracotta tiles in various formats form the flooring. The tiles are traditionally made in the nearby area (about 20 km away). The floor was sealed with a biological oil.
Outdoor living - on the large terraces
Enjoy the terraces and the property as a haven for idleness. Enjoying the peace and quiet, watching the flickering heat in summer. The cicadas sing along. Cool drinks. Life can also be exhausting at Casa Ria. Sunny and quiet days on the terrace, starry skies. The only thing that never takes a holiday here is the sun. The old trees give the large property a special atmosphere. Now the holiday starts. Gaaaaaaay slowly.
Too much sun? Then go under the pergola. The terraces are equipped with enough loungers, chairs and tables. There are cushions for all the seating furniture. If that is not enough, there are orange groves, almond trees, olive trees, alfarubeiras and ... many places to sit. For example, on the threshing floor of the old quinta, the Eira. If you feel like exercising, there is a pétanque (boules) court or you can play badminton. The playing material is waiting for you.
Light & Dark
Many lamps and lighting equipment with almost as many switches make it possible for you to create many different lighting situations inside and outside.
On the other hand, no one needs to worry about outdoor lighting for the driveway, the patio or the eira. These areas are switched by timers, so there is always sufficient outdoor lighting, even for early risers or late homecomers.
Restful sleep - sweet dreams
The French bed 160*200 cm with a slatted frame that is hardness-adjustable and a comfort mattress supports a restful, peaceful sleep. Wake up refreshed and rested.
With the mattresses we have paid attention to a very good ventilation. The bed linen is made of 100% cotton. So just lie down, feel good, fall asleep and dream pleasantly. Wake up the next morning rested, refreshed and fit.
Individual switchable wall lamps, ceiling lights and bedside lights provide the lighting. Windows with fly screens and electric blinds can be opened from the bed by remote control to let the sun in or closed to keep the room beautifully dark. High open wooden ceilings and the very good cross-ventilation possibilities ensure a pleasant room climate.
Bedroom I
South-west facing bedroom. Access to the terrace. The French bed is 160*200 cm in size. Next to the bed, two granite night tables offer storage space for small utensils and a night table lamp each. A spacious corner wardrobe offers plenty of space for wardrobe. A floor-to-ceiling window rounds off the furnishings.
Bedroom II
Sleep separately in 2 single beds. Each bed is 100*200 cm so that you can turn around without the risk of falling out of bed. Holidaying with friends? Then the beds can be pushed together in no time. Two bedside tables with small drawer. A built-in wardrobe approx. 200*230 cm completes the equipment. Orientation: north-west.
The bathrooms
Traditional plaster style impregnated with biological oil give the walls an antique look. The washbasins are made of a very special sandstone. Many fossil inclusions can be found here. Who will find more? Barrier-free showers Oh, by the way, Casa Ria has a city water connection and thus tested water quality and almost lime-free water.
Food,
Eat or play together. the table measures 150*90 cm. It's not crowded for 4 people or even for more demanding settings. If that's still not enough, the table can be extended in no time. Now the table can be set to bursting point or up to 6 people can be seated comfortably. Sufficient crockery is available. Comfortable and sturdy chairs with cushions for a cosy get-together.
The weather is once again too nice to sit inside, then directly out onto the terrace. The patio doors let plenty of light into the flat. A pergola with a sun sail protects against too much sun. The paths are short and you always have everything in view. Here, too, there is a beautiful table with plenty of space. Comfortable, adjustable chairs. Now enjoy the unobstructed view over the large property and into nature.
Everything should be available for all cultivated meals. Candlesticks, table runners, decanters, red and white wine glasses. Beer and water glasses and something for the traditional aqua duck.
The kitchen
Cooking together. It's easy to do here. Sufficient space to conjure up your personal favourite dishes or delicacies. Around your flat you will find important herbs for Mediterranean cooking. Rosemary, chilli, wild spicy thyme, oregano, lemon balm, peppermint and lemongrass for a delicious tea or a refreshing cold drink.
The granite worktop is robust and hard-wearing and offers plenty of space for easy preparation. Don't feel like cooking? Then the oven or microwave will do the trick. The restaurants in the area are happy to present you their culinary highlights of the Algarve.
To make cooking even more of a pleasure, we have equipped the kitchen with an induction cooker. Oven . Dishwasher, extractor bonnet, microwave, +++, everything that belongs in a household.
Comfort can start with packing the suitcases. In order to keep it light, the flats are extensively and comfortably equipped. The hairdryer, the travel iron, the bath towels, the beach mats can safely stay at home. A few German- and English-language books are on the shelf and should satisfy one or the other reading passion.
All the furnishings have been lovingly selected with the aim of creating a cosy, homely atmosphere.
Activities around: Casa Ria
The choice of holiday activities is always a personal decision. Casually strolling barefoot on a secluded beach, indulging in historical European or Moorish culture. Sporty.
Experience one of the many festivals and free musical events. Horse markets with racy horses and beautiful carriages and carriages. Fairs, markets and even more festivals and processions. Immerse yourself in the carnival. And everywhere the friendliness and serenity of the Algarvians. Time for a wine, fado, snacks just dozing a little in the shade of the midday sun.

Location and surroundings of object
The Ecovia do Litoral cycle path leads from St. Antonio, the border town on the Guadiana, to Capo Dão Vicente in the extreme southwest of the Algarve. It leads over long stretches through the unique Ria Formosa, which is an experience not only for bird lovers. One of the most important ecosystems in Europe is almost always home to flamingos, storks, kingfishers and various species of waterfowl. In addition, sea salt is still traditionally mined in some areas. The Via Algarviana hiking trail runs somewhat inland, where you will find peace and quiet and a pure experience of nature. The first golf course is about 9 km / 14 min away. Kitesurfing, windsurfing, surfing and diving are available from Faro, Ilha de Faro 35 km / 35 min. Individual Ria tours by boat and larger ferries to Ilha da Barreta / Desserta are available from Faro. Historic old town 19 km / 30 min. There is a snack bar and small supermarket about 1 km away. At a distance of 4 km there is a Pingo Doce, an Aldi and for only one km more another Pingo. Directly west of Olhão then a Lidel and a Continente. On the way there many small Supermercados, the market halls and countless retail shops, restaurants and bars, an outdoor swimming pool, churches, chapels, squares, small typical parks. All large supermarkets are open 7 days a week from 9:00 - 22:00. There are only a few public holidays when the shops are closed. Olhão has a market every Saturday morning.

Distances
On the eastern Algarve, the Sotavento, downwind i.e. the side away from the wind, there is much to discover and be it your own peace, serenity and slowness. The Algarve coast is arguably one of the most beautiful coasts in Europe, offering something for everyone from endless sandy beaches in the east, biodiverse nature reserves in the middle and breathtaking rocky coasts. Let yourself be enchanted by the light and scents of the Algarve (it's not hard).
In the nearest towns, Olhão, Fuzeta, Tavira Faro, St. Bras, Loulé, the Portuguese tranquillity still applies. Not dominated by tourists, visitors here experience the typical river, the relaxed friendliness of the Algarvians and a normal infrastructure. In other words, no mass tourism. Casa Ria is very easy and convenient to reach and is situated on an asphalted road with hardly any traffic, in well-kept surroundings. The distance from the airport is about 24 km, which takes about 35 minutes. The approx. 2 ha large property spreads out in front of the house and offers an appealing distance to the neighbours, so that your own privacy is always guaranteed.
To the east
Tavira, once the city of the Romans, is approx. 21 km away. St. Lucia, the seaside resort with narrow-gauge railway through the Ria Formosa to the offshore dune and the seemingly endless beach 15 km / 20 min., Ayamonte, a Spanish pearl directly on the border river Guadiana 53 km / 45 min., Seville, the metropolis in Andalusia is always worth a detour is reached after approx. 180 km and after approx. 1:45 hours.

Very close: Olhão, the pearl of the Eastern Algarve and fishing town is about 7 km away, Fuzeta, fishermen, beach and more about 5 km. There is a small beach in Fuzeta. Both places have ferries or water taxis to get to the almost deserted offshore sandbanks of the Ria Formosa or to the island of the fishermen Culatra. The journey alone is exciting, there is a lot to discover and the water taxis are quite fast. The Ria Formosa with the cycle path that connects Spain with the west coast is only 3 km / 5 min away.

We offer a modern standard of comfort at reasonable prices without additional costs. This can only be achieved by not overusing natural resources. With the installed photovoltaic system we will certainly become an energy PLUS house in the future. Vamos ver. By the way, 90 % of all the work on Casa Ria was done by Portuguese people from the surrounding area. We would like to thank everyone for the great cooperation.
For us, the property was decisive, radiating a unique peace and relaxation, we had arrived. We strolled around the 2-hectare property for about 30 minutes, enjoying the peace and quiet. The oranges, which had not been worked on for probably about 20 years, were surprisingly juicy for so little irrigation. The many old trees, including alfarrobeiras, oranges, mandarins, various figs, almonds, pomegranates, ... From the old ruin this fantastic view over the entire property.
It was clear that we wanted to have it. A little later, the time had come. The adventure began. in 2011 we planned the project. Now the Atlantic Ocean can also be seen from the roof terraces. Casa Ria was completed in January 2013 in a traditional country house style. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. The kitchens are extensive, comfortable and modern. All rooms have separately adjustable underfloor heating and electric blinds. The energy for heating and hot water is mainly provided by the sun and stored in a total of 1500 l buffer storage. Casa Ria also produces electricity with a photovoltaic system hidden almost invisibly in the plot. Inside we used an eco [clay] paint, which has a very pleasant tone with its special light refraction. The wood preservatives for the mostly open wooden ceilings, which are up to about 4.50 m high, are also fully organic. The same applies to the wood stain on the ceilings and doors.
