Description

Probbach is part of the market town of Mengerskirchen. Our holiday home is located on the Hermannsberg, a former volcano, at an altitude of approx. 300 metres. Surrounded by meadows and forests, the landscape here offers opportunities for walking or for extended hikes through the charming Westerwald. From here you can make exciting excursions to numerous worthwhile destinations. The "Waldsee" (Faulbach reservoir) in Probbach and the nearby "Seeweiher" with its high recreational value are ideal for swimming. It is not far to the "Fuchskaute", the highest elevation (657 metres above sea level) in the High Westerwald. From Probbach in a southerly direction, you can reach the lovely Lahn Valley with the towns of Weilburg, Braunfels, Wetzlar and Limburg, all of which are well worth a visit. Here you can totally switch off and relax. But there is plenty of help for boredom in the near and far surroundings. Here you can enjoy a relaxing holiday with friends.

Location and surroundings of object

Our holiday home is situated below an ancient volcanic cone on a spacious hillside plot. The fully insulated house accommodates six guests. it has two separate bedrooms. Bedroom 1 is furnished with separate double beds. Bedroom 2 sleeps four people in two comfortable bunk beds. The spacious living-dining room offers a romantic open fireplace, and a stove for heating (heating material is included). The well-equipped kitchen will spoil you with a dishwasher, refrigerator, 4-plate ceramic hob, oven, 2 coffee machines (filter/pads),kettle, bread cutter, toaster,...
The bathroom is equipped with a shower-bathtub, washbasin, WC and washing machine. A small hallway offers space for your wardrobe. Two spacious terraces (one with fireplace) invite you to laze around. A playground, sandpit, high chair, cot and children's tableware welcome our little guests.
Pets are not welcome. Mengerskirchen-Probbach is located in the south-eastern Westerwald between Mengerskirchen and Löhnberg in the romantic Lahn valley. The old residential town of Weilburg is only 11 kilometres away. The cathedral cities of Limburg (20 km) and Wetzlar (29 km) can be reached in half an hour. The medieval old towns of Braunfels with its majestic castle (21 km) and Herborn (26 km) are also worth a visit. Probbach is surrounded by meadows and forests. A bathing lake (Waldsee) lies directly near Probbach. The Probbach Sauerborn (healing spring) is freely accessible to everyone.
At the Waldsee, two restaurants cater for your physical well-being.

a pearl in the Westerwald

the vacation home is excellent. The location is beautiful. From the living room, you have a wonderful view of the valley. When the sun is shining, you can even sit outside in October. All appliances are there and all of them work. The wood stove heats the entire house. There is also heating in the bathroom. The kitchen is adequately equipped, there is even a dishwasher. Everything is very well maintained and clean. It is a house where you feel comfortable. In our opinion, Probbach is the most beautiful part of the Westerwald. Very suitable for hiking. Weilburg and Limburg an der Lahn are also not far away. Our stay was a pleasure.

Really cosy!

The cottage is very cosy and the furnishings leave nothing to be desired. With the 2 terraces and the beautiful garden on the edge of the forest, you have several cosy spots to relax, weather permitting. Otherwise, you can make yourself comfortable in front of the wood stove.
There is no shopping in the village itself (you have to drive a few kilometres), but you really have peace and quiet and lots of nature around you. Exactly what we were looking for.
The contact with the landlady was very pleasant.
We enjoyed it here very much!

The real holiday feeling

From August 2nd to August 11th, 2018.
We can recommend this holiday home to everyone. The equipment is very complete.
The large living room is striking. The decor of the living room is different from the photo on the website.
Now there is a modern lounge sofa and by the fireplace two comfortable armchairs with footstools.
A spacious garden in the front and back with a lot of privacy.
The distances to most sights are usually between 30 and 40 km. We were lucky to be able to fully enjoy the beautiful weather of 30°C during these 10 days.

We can simply say, here you can find peace.

nice vacation

We spent our summer vacation in this house. Nearby (2km on foot) is the forest lake, where you can swim wonderfully. The house is located on a mountain at the edge of the forest, where you can watch the cows during breakfast. We didn't miss anything here and with the car you can quickly reach the attractions. (e.g. mining museum, amusement park Lochmühle, thermal bath, etc.) The landlady is very friendly and we can recommend this house.

If you want to escape the stressful city life and are looking for a truly beautiful accommodation in the countryside, you will definitely find it here. The landlords are very nice, the house is idyllically located right on the edge of the forest and is partially (bathroom, kitchen) freshly renovated, the outdoor area is very interesting and lovingly designed. There are several options for grilling or simply enjoying a fire at one of the fireplaces. If you want to go swimming, you can do so at the nearby Probbach Forest Lake (with a small sandy beach). We were there with three people and did, among other things, a canoe trip on the Lahn and spent a day at the Lochmühle amusement park. Our son was thrilled! We will definitely come back!

Vicinity of the holiday home: Sehr idyllisch, Landleben, Waldsee, Bach zum Staudamm bauen,ganz ruhig, mitGlück kann man Rehe und Eichhörnchen beobachten

free time activities: In Probbach selbst gibt es den Waldsee (baden, angeln), den dazugehörigen Bach, ein rießiges Waldgebiet.
In der Nähe Weilburg (Schloss, Schiffstunnel, Schleusen, Kanufahren), die Lochmühle und der Hessenpark sind nicht weit, in Wetzlar (Schwimmbad, Altstadt) und Limburg (Dom, Schwimmbad, Eishalle, Kino und wunderschöne Altstadt) ist man recht schnell mit dem Auto.

shopping facilities: Im Ort selbst gibt es nichts größeres, aber zwei Ortschaften weiter in Mengerskirchen gibt es einen großen Rewe, Bäcker, Metzger, Tankstelle.

Traumhaft

We wanted to spend a quiet weekend with five adults and chose Probbach. The expectations for the house were high due to the beautiful pictures, but were immediately confirmed, if not exceeded. It was immediately noticeable that a lot of work and love had been invested in the house and garden. Everything you need is there, the kitchen and bathroom seem freshly renovated, and the cozy atmosphere quickly makes you feel like you're on vacation. On one side, you have a great view over the valley, on the other side, the forest starts directly and invites you to explore. We felt very comfortable from the beginning, spent some wonderful days, and would love to come back again! Many thanks to Mrs. Schaefer!
