The holiday house is situated in the middle of the Bavarian Forest National Park on the slope of the Lusen ( m altitude) with a wonderful panoramic view. It is a cosy detached house in Bavarian country house style with 4 separate bedrooms, living room with Swedish stove (firewood is of course provided) and satellite TV, large kitchen with new electrical appliances, two showers/3 WCs, a large veranda and sunbathing lawn, which invites you to barbecue or campfire. There is a smoker, a kettle grill or a fire bowl with swivel grill! With playground and XXL trampoline. There is room for up to 8 people. (Nine is also possible in a pinch ;))
From egg cooker to hairdryer and everything is on site.
And brand new: there's also a foosball table!

Here you will find healing peace and relaxation, unspoilt nature and many sporting opportunities such as hiking and winter sports for an active holiday. Numerous hiking trails, toboggan run, cross-country ski trails and two ski lifts are in the immediate vicinity. In the in-house sauna you can recover from a strenuous day of hiking or skiing. If you want to keep the kitchen cold, we recommend the tasty and inexpensive Bavarian cuisine in and around Waldhäuser, restaurants are only a few steps away.

The holiday home is located in the upper part of the mountain village Waldhäuser at about 1000 metres above sea level with a wonderful panoramic view. It is a detached house in Bavarian country house style surrounded by meadows and trees, very quietly located in a dead-end street. The large property promises pure nature and absolute tranquillity! It is only a few metres to the toboggan run, cross-country ski runs, ski lifts, hiking trails and restaurants
The mountain village of Waldhäuser is located in the middle of the Bavarian Forest National Park on the slope of the Lusen with a magnificent panoramic view. Also known as an artists' village where painters and sculptors have settled. Equipped with hiking trails, cycling paths, toboggan run, cross-country ski trails and two ski lifts. Two restaurants cater for your physical well-being
You can start your hikes directly from the front door.
The Bavarian Forest and the Bohemian Forest are one of the largest contiguous forest areas in Central Europe. The national park is accessible through a well-developed network of hiking trails. You will encounter rare flora and fauna, beautiful mixed forests and forest meadows crossed by small mountain streams. The lynx has also returned to the region. National park rangers are on hand to offer advice and help and ensure that this unique wilderness is preserved in its original state.
In a large animal and outdoor enclosure with an information centre in the immediate vicinity of Waldhäuser, you will encounter bears, wolves, bison, deer, lynx, beavers and many other animal species that were once native to the region and some of which once again live freely in the forests. A special experience is the walk along the longest treetop path in the world. Here you can follow the life of the forest from a different perspective and have a magnificent view of the surrounding forests and mountain peaks.
The region is relatively snow-sure, so you can go tobogganing, skiing and snowshoeing in winter. Waldhäuser and the surrounding countryside offer a wealth of recreational opportunities for the whole family, such as swimming fun in wonderful forest lakes or in the Grafenau adventure park. For skaters, there is also a skate park. An interesting experience is a visit to the Finsterau open-air museum, where old farms and a historic local inn stand amidst meadows and fields. The glassmaking trade has a long tradition in the area, and glasses of the highest quality are produced here. A visit to a glassworks is an experience worth seeing.
Worthwhile excursions include hikes into the nearby Czech Republic (Sumava National Park) and a trip to Krumlov with its unique medieval townscape (World Heritage Site). Other recommended destinations are a visit to the three-river city of Passau with its Italianate city architecture, Regensburg with its fascinating old town and the Stone Bridge (World Heritage Site), Straubing with its annual Gäuboden Festival, the Ilz Valley (award-winning river landscape) with rare animal and plant species. Otter, beaver, black stork, fire salamander and river pearl mussel still occur here. A boat trip on the Danube to the Schlögen loop (Upper Austria) is interesting and varied.

A wonderful short vacation
Our stay with the Butscher family in the holiday home was wonderful.
The location is great and our children had a lot of fun at the attached playground. The view over the Bavarian forest is beautiful.
The kitchen was well-equipped and everything in the holiday home was clean, so we felt very comfortable.
Communication with the landlord went smoothly.
We would love to come back.

Simply top
How should I write it best, very simple: anyone who wants a great holiday home with plenty of space, a fantastic location, and a super view is exactly right here. There is everything in the house from A like the call from the Butscher family on the first evening asking if everything is okay, if we need help with anything. Z like sugar and cinnamon. There is really everything; nothing is missing, a wonderfully equipped holiday home. From the table soccer to the dartboard and other games, where you can end the evening wonderfully on the terrace.
We were 6 adults and 1 dog
And if we go to the Bavarian Forest again, we would book it again.

A holiday home that is unmatched!
We were allowed to spend a week in this beautiful holiday home, equipped with a lot of attention to detail and every comfort. Here, it's all about arriving, unpacking, and feeling at home. Even our anxious dog felt comfortable here from the very beginning, and that says a lot ;). Numerous hiking trails lead from the house into the idyllic nature of the Bavarian Forest, which was simply perfect for us. Unfortunately, the time has passed way too quickly, so we can only say thank you once again, dear Butscher family, and definitely see you next time.

Great short vacation
It is a very beautiful house, quietly located, both for relaxing and for being active. You can start to Lusen from the front door, the national park is reachable in 10 minutes. We felt very comfortable and would happily come back, but for longer next time. We only had phone contact with Mr. Butcher, who was extremely warm. Thank you very much.

Familienurlaub Idylle
We rented the National Park Home for a one-week family vacation with seven people, including a toddler. We were very impressed by the facilities and the overall charm of the accommodation; each room has its own charm, and the accommodation was very neat and clean. We lacked nothing; we could take care of ourselves well, and the landlords were excellently accessible, friendly, and reacted quickly. Kitchen and bathroom were equipped with top-notch amenities, there were plenty of cooking utensils, dishes, cutlery, and towels, as well as a large refrigerator with a freezer. It felt like a home away from home. The playground in the garden was enjoyed by both young and old, and the highlight for rainy days was the fireplace. On sunny days, we could enjoy the view of the Bavarian Forest while having breakfast and dinner.
Waldhäuser is situated very idyllically, perfect for day trips or hikes in the Bayerischer Wald National Park. One should plan approximately 20 minutes of driving time for shopping. We spent some really beautiful days there and it is absolutely recommended!
