The holiday house is situated in the middle of the Bavarian Forest National Park on the slope of the Lusen ( m altitude) with a wonderful panoramic view. It is a cosy detached house in Bavarian country house style with 4 separate bedrooms, living room with Swedish stove (firewood is of course provided) and satellite TV, large kitchen with new electrical appliances, two showers/3 WCs, a large veranda and sunbathing lawn, which invites you to barbecue or campfire. There is a smoker, a kettle grill or a fire bowl with swivel grill! With playground and XXL trampoline. There is room for up to 8 people. (Nine is also possible in a pinch ;))
From egg cooker to hairdryer and everything is on site.
And brand new: there's also a foosball table!

Here you will find healing peace and relaxation, unspoilt nature and many sporting opportunities such as hiking and winter sports for an active holiday. Numerous hiking trails, toboggan run, cross-country ski trails and two ski lifts are in the immediate vicinity. In the in-house sauna you can recover from a strenuous day of hiking or skiing. If you want to keep the kitchen cold, we recommend the tasty and inexpensive Bavarian cuisine in and around Waldhäuser, restaurants are only a few steps away.

The holiday home is located in the upper part of the mountain village Waldhäuser at about 1000 metres above sea level with a wonderful panoramic view. It is a detached house in Bavarian country house style surrounded by meadows and trees, very quietly located in a dead-end street. The large property promises pure nature and absolute tranquillity! It is only a few metres to the toboggan run, cross-country ski runs, ski lifts, hiking trails and restaurants
The mountain village of Waldhäuser is located in the middle of the Bavarian Forest National Park on the slope of the Lusen with a magnificent panoramic view. Also known as an artists' village where painters and sculptors have settled. Equipped with hiking trails, cycling paths, toboggan run, cross-country ski trails and two ski lifts. Two restaurants cater for your physical well-being
You can start your hikes directly from the front door.
The Bavarian Forest and the Bohemian Forest are one of the largest contiguous forest areas in Central Europe. The national park is accessible through a well-developed network of hiking trails. You will encounter rare flora and fauna, beautiful mixed forests and forest meadows crossed by small mountain streams. The lynx has also returned to the region. National park rangers are on hand to offer advice and help and ensure that this unique wilderness is preserved in its original state.
In a large animal and outdoor enclosure with an information centre in the immediate vicinity of Waldhäuser, you will encounter bears, wolves, bison, deer, lynx, beavers and many other animal species that were once native to the region and some of which once again live freely in the forests. A special experience is the walk along the longest treetop path in the world. Here you can follow the life of the forest from a different perspective and have a magnificent view of the surrounding forests and mountain peaks.
The region is relatively snow-sure, so you can go tobogganing, skiing and snowshoeing in winter. Waldhäuser and the surrounding countryside offer a wealth of recreational opportunities for the whole family, such as swimming fun in wonderful forest lakes or in the Grafenau adventure park. For skaters, there is also a skate park. An interesting experience is a visit to the Finsterau open-air museum, where old farms and a historic local inn stand amidst meadows and fields. The glassmaking trade has a long tradition in the area, and glasses of the highest quality are produced here. A visit to a glassworks is an experience worth seeing.
Worthwhile excursions include hikes into the nearby Czech Republic (Sumava National Park) and a trip to Krumlov with its unique medieval townscape (World Heritage Site). Other recommended destinations are a visit to the three-river city of Passau with its Italianate city architecture, Regensburg with its fascinating old town and the Stone Bridge (World Heritage Site), Straubing with its annual Gäuboden Festival, the Ilz Valley (award-winning river landscape) with rare animal and plant species. Otter, beaver, black stork, fire salamander and river pearl mussel still occur here. A boat trip on the Danube to the Schlögen loop (Upper Austria) is interesting and varied.

Familienurlaub Idylle
We rented the National Park Home for a one-week family vacation with seven people, including a toddler. We were very impressed by the facilities and the overall charm of the accommodation; each room has its own charm, and the accommodation was very neat and clean. We lacked nothing; we could take care of ourselves well, and the landlords were excellently accessible, friendly, and reacted quickly. Kitchen and bathroom were equipped with top-notch amenities, there were plenty of cooking utensils, dishes, cutlery, and towels, as well as a large refrigerator with a freezer. It felt like a home away from home. The playground in the garden was enjoyed by both young and old, and the highlight for rainy days was the fireplace. On sunny days, we could enjoy the view of the Bavarian Forest while having breakfast and dinner.
Waldhäuser is situated very idyllically, perfect for day trips or hikes in the Bayerischer Wald National Park. One should plan approximately 20 minutes of driving time for shopping. We spent some really beautiful days there and it is absolutely recommended!

Absolutely perfect
We stayed with two families in the little cottage in Waldhäuser and it was wonderful! The location is great - the National Park Center and the animal enclosure are quickly accessible. The house is well equipped, so we could cook nice meals! We also tested the sauna and after long hiking days - it was a welcome relaxation. The sunsets and starry sky are wonderful. With two bathrooms and an additional toilet, it is also well covered for eight people. The playground was a hit with the kids, they could almost skip outings. Wolfgang is very friendly and helpful - we will definitely come back and then stay longer!

There is nothing missing here.
The beautifully furnished house is really prepared for everything, we didn't miss anything. Beautiful hikes can directly be started from the house, Lusen and Rachel are easily reachable on foot, as well as many other sights. Shopping possibilities are about 8km away in Spiegelau, which also has everything. The 2 restaurants in Waldhäuser are also highly recommended.
Our 2 weeks passed by in a flash.

9 wonderful days
The holiday home leaves nothing to be desired in terms of location, equipment and comfort. It is fully equipped and offers a sauna and terrace as well as a versatile starting point for hikes. We (6 adults) could enjoy sunsets and barbecues to the fullest and 2 inns in the immediate vicinity fulfilled culinary wishes. Mr. Butscher contacted us from the first day and was responsive at all times. We agree: this was a wonderful holiday in Waldhäuser.

Well-being holiday

A holiday home to come back to
We were guests in this lovely holiday home for 1 week. Our whole family - 4 adults, two toddlers and our dog felt super comfortable
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. The sofa is great, there are more sockets than necessary
There are towels everywhere, which is not a matter of course.
The sauna area is an absolute added value and we also used it as a children's playground during the day. We also enjoyed the sauna very much and then watching the sunset on the terrace - wonderful.
For us, a holiday home where we would go again!

Our wonderful vacation
In this very clean house, nothing is lacking! Really, everything is there and in good condition. As a guest, you immediately notice that someone here takes care of this property with heart and soul. The location is pleasantly quiet but not completely isolated from everything. Still surrounded by a lot of nature.
Things run very differently here than in vacation homes where the landlord constantly imposes himself. If there are actually problems or questions, Mr. Butscher is always available and provides support and advice. Otherwise, he does not impose himself and allows guests to enjoy their vacation, especially the peace and quiet. And there is plenty of that. As mentioned before, nothing is missing. We were able to use the smoker and fire pit. The terrace offers a beautiful view. Play equipment for children is available, and there is something available for bad weather days if necessary. In addition, you can go hiking, for example, the treetop path is only about 10 minutes away by car, and there are many other opportunities for experiencing nature here. The kitchen is extensively equipped. And so it goes on and on, but hardly fits in a comment field...
Conclusion: The National Park Home can only be recommended.

Idyllic location...
...and very peaceful. It was a very nice vacation in your house. The view from the terrace to the mountains is wonderful.
We were there with 7 people, including 2 children. Everything you need can be found there. The house is very clean and cozy - it invites you to relax.

Everything that the hiking heart desires.
A great house in a wonderful location. The view and the silence are already impressive, the house offers almost everything one could wish for and if you should decide to leave the house, short (about 2 hours) and extensive (about 5 hours) hiking tours on foot are easily possible in the surrounding area. Two restaurants within walking distance can be reached in a few minutes - in case you want to give the well-equipped kitchen a rest.
The landlord is also always and quickly available. one feels very welcome.

Wonderful vacation with the family
On the occasion of a round birthday, we spent a week in this very cozy holiday home with the entire family and we felt completely comfortable. The house offers plenty of space - even for 8 people; the equipment leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. The house is clean; the village very quiet and the view fantastic. The children had a lot of fun with the trampoline, swing, treehouse, and foosball table. Hiking, swimming, outdoor playgrounds, shopping - this region has a lot to offer. The package is rounded off with a very friendly and accommodating landlord. We will definitely come back again!

Great house
We were 3 couples and 2 dogs in this great holiday home. The furnishings were top notch. We have already stayed in a few houses, but the National Parkhome surpassed everything. The equipment was great and plentiful (lots of crockery, egg boiler, kettle, toaster, washing machine, dishwasher, everything available). The house was also very homely: Cosy blankets, cushions and decorations. What was also used daily was the sauna. We and our dogs felt at home. We will definitely come again. The contact with Mr Butcher was very good. He checked right away in the evening if everything was OK.

Top house in best altitude location
The 4 of us , parents with daughter and grandma , spent 1 wonderful week in early January in the snow and in a very well equipped holiday home ! There is nothing missing here , from the parking space in front of the front door , to the neat kitchen to the living room with dining area and fireplace , to the beautiful bedrooms with views of the mountains and valleys. Everything is fine , even the landlord asks if everything is in order - simply reliable and pleasant , compliments . Excursions to the national park on the doorstep, or to Passau or the Czech Krumau - from Waldhäuser everything is easy to do. The 4 of us agreed - a wonderful holiday , certainly also in summer ; )

Top cabin in prime location
We can only agree with the previous review. It was a wonderfully relaxing week for us. Particularly positive was the fact that everything was thought of in this little house, even small things like enough spices, coffee filters, and dishwasher tabs. The sauna did us particularly good. The children were thrilled with the toboggan slope and various DVDs. There was even a sled. Many thanks to Mr. Butscher for the lovely week.

We are still enthusiastic...
We spent 1 week in the beautiful holiday home for a winter vacation and it was simply fantastic. Everything ran smoothly from the beginning. The house is wonderfully located, quiet, just a stone's throw from the ski slopes, and the cross-country ski trails are also not far away. The view is magnificent and the sauna is a great bonus. The house itself is really cozy and equipped with everything one needs. You can leave towels, bed linen, and a hairdryer at home, which is not always available everywhere. Great for children too, toboggan hill right at the house (sleds are available on site!). The local ski lift operator/ski school offers both equipment and ski lessons, all at fair prices. The people there are also very nice, very uncomplicated. We have already tested several holiday homes in the Bavarian Forest but here we are sure, we will come back. In the village, there are no shopping options, which was not a problem for us (we had a car - nearest place with larger shopping options about 7 km away). Bread rolls can be ordered from the lift operator/ski school if needed, and there is a guesthouse where one can eat typical local food. Without snow, hiking is great, and in the area, you can visit the treetop walkway and a large animal enclosure, Passau is also worth a visit. Many thanks, Butscher family, and see you next year!!!
