Beautiful holiday flat

Very nice holiday flat. The flat is furnished with everything necessary and with style. On the terrace you have a beautiful view of the greenery and can even watch the hares. The barbecue and the beach chair round off the whole experience.
The landlady also looked after us very obligingly.

The "home"-house :-)

Dear Kraus family!

Here now comes the promised and deserved evaluation, which I am very happy to write for you.

Almost everything has already been written in the many excellent reviews, both about the complete, high-quality and well thought-out furnishings and the many useful little things, as well as the exceptionally beautiful location and the generosity of the beautiful house.

I would like to add the following: we have always been holiday home lovers" and have lost count of how many holiday homes we have stayed in. We have always looked forward to the variety of a new house. Well, actually we only want to go to one house from now on, and that is yours :-)

And that is not only because this house is on a level that the majority of all holiday homes we know will never reach. The holiday begins "in the spirit" already with the first telephone call with you, because your friendly and sympathetic kind invites one directly. At the very latest, the moment you finally enter the house, you feel completely at home, the usual "settling in" is simply not necessary :-)

At this point I would also like to mention the good work of your "house pearl" not only was the house so clean that you could "eat off the floor", it was of course also disinfected according to all the rules of the art in these times... Thank you, Mrs B.!

After the holiday, what we missed most was the incredibly relaxing view from the terrace. This is so captivating that I didn't even use the very large TV.... instead, I was mesmerised by huge flocks of rustling birds, sunsets and lots of shooting stars. What a great time.

So thank you, Kraus family, for letting us be your guests. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

East Frisia is always worth a trip.

My wife and I had spent a lovely week here in Schillig.
Fortunately, the weather was on our side.
The apartment is very spacious, so my wife in the wheelchair could move around freely. Everything in the apartment is tastefully decorated, modern, and with love
so you feel like you are visiting friends.

Weihnachten in Schillig

We wanted to celebrate Christmas in peace, without phone calls, spontaneous visitors, or the like. That was exactly possible here in Schillig.
The house was beautifully decorated, the furnishings were above average. We didn't lack anything here. Positive to note is the space in the house: even in bad weather, everyone finds their spot - which is rather rare in Schillig. We especially enjoyed the views from the windows at the back and, when it got dark, the Christmas lights. My husband has a slight mobility impairment and he found the accessibility of the bathroom on the ground floor very pleasant. All in all: we found exactly what we were looking for!

A beautiful holiday in Schillig!

In May 2018, we spent a wonderful 14-day holiday in the tasteful North Sea holiday home in Schillig for the second time. We were there as a family, grandparents, parents and two children. As soon as we arrived, we immediately felt "at home" again
The furnishings throughout the house leave nothing to be desired. Everything is bright, friendly, lovingly and modernly furnished. We wanted for nothing in this house
The large living/dining room and the well-equipped kitchen are on the ground floor. The large windows and doors open onto the terrace and garden. There is everything the heart desires, a cosy sitting area, a large couch, a large revolving TV, games, reading material. The family gathered here to cook and eat and to spend time together. The children were again happy about the many toys and used them extensively
Furthermore, there is a large bedroom (the Friesian room) with a small TV extra and a very spacious bathroom with underfloor heating. The large bright hallway offers plenty of space when coming home
Upstairs is the large dream room, a bedroom with sitting area, large TV - and if needed, a baby cot. Here you also have the calming view into the distance. A room with two single beds (in our case for the children) and a second bathroom complete the upper floor.
The terrace is fully equipped with high-quality garden furniture, a beach chair, parasol and also a gas barbecue, which we enjoyed using in the beautiful weather
The garden is ideal for the children to run around, the unobstructed view of the wide field very relaxing.
The holiday home is in an absolutely quiet location, and the beach is only a few minutes' walk over the dyke
I would also like to emphasise the warm care provided by the Kraus family.

Best holiday home!

We stayed in this holiday home for the 4th time and were, as always, very enthusiastic. The house is absolutely inviting and every corner is beautifully designed. Nothing is missing and we will always prefer this house for our next holidays and look forward to our next stay there. In addition, the personal contact with the Kraus family is always very warm and cordial.

Why wander far afield when good is close at hand.

This year, it was time again. Packing suitcases, into the car, and off to Schillig to the Dream Vacation Home of the Kraus family. You arrive and feel "I have come home." The view from the window is better than any television program. In the evening, while grilling or by the fireplace, you let your soul unwind, and everything around you is forgotten. This is the place for those seeking peace. A special praise goes to Mrs. Kraus. Your warm friendliness, care, good taste, and pleasant interactions with "holidaymakers" turn the house into a home. That's why the Molendis say "Hooray! We will come back! 2018 is secured!!!"

3 generations holiday by the sea

Dear Kraus family,
A week of vacation at the North Sea in your beautiful holiday home passed by far too quickly.
Immediately upon entering your perfectly equipped and beautiful holiday home for all generations, our vacation began.
The cozy atmosphere, the comfortable terrace, the variety of games for all age groups, and the cozy reading corners in the living room and the upper parent's bedroom left nothing to be desired. We, our children, and grandchildren have often visited the beach (with a wagon and sand toys from the garage) and then we went HOME (not to the vacation house) where we played happily and a lot. The barbecue evening on the terrace was beautiful. The view of the field and the visits of pheasants and rabbits were a highlight for our grandchildren (5 and 1 year). Even in rainy weather, everything was taken care of (children's movies on DVD, sitting outside on the covered terrace, books to read for young and old, cards and board games).
With a heavy heart, we said goodbye to your North Sea holiday home after a week. But we will come back.
From the inquiry to the journey back home, we felt well taken care of.

Well-being week

Dear Kraus family,
It's a shame that our holiday in your beautiful house has come to an end; we would have liked to stay longer. First, we would like to thank you for your caring support before and during our holiday. We have not experienced this before :-)
Your home is the ideal place to relax and unwind. Everything is just perfect here. The location and facilities of the house are superb. It is lovingly and tastefully furnished. We felt immediately comfortable. The house is spacious and wheelchair accessible. It was very important for us that it was clean, and here it was absolutely top-notch. The kitchen is fully equipped like at home, nothing was missing. Our absolute favorite spot was the terrace with the beach chair; from here, you have a great panoramic view over the fields, pure relaxation. If pheasants and rabbits are also visible, the idyll is complete. A large grill completes it. From the Friesenzimmer, you have this beautiful view right when you wake up, a better way to start the day is hard to find.
We love the sea, it's just a five-minute walk to the dike and there it is, the sea, well, water only at high tide. . . the beach is clean and endlessly long. . . and if you don't like beach walks, you can always go for a mudflat hike; wonderful (there are great guided hikes). Additionally, you can go surfing, kite surfing, fly kites, or play mini golf. Also sports and relaxation for everyone. In Schillig, there is a small supermarket and a bakery (open on Sundays as well). If you need more, just drive five minutes by car to Edeka in Horumersiel. Speaking of Horumersiel, we found great restaurants and enjoyed delicious meals there. The various excursion options were nicely organized in several folders, allowing us to quickly orient ourselves and explore the surrounding area. Your online description does not promise too much - it's beautiful. It was a great vacation, we will definitely come back. Best regards.

Let the soul dangle

We spent 12 very nice days in this holiday home and were absolutely thrilled!
The house is very lovingly furnished, not at all standard. It had everything you need and more, and the most beautiful thing was the view of the open field from the living room and kitchen. There is no better way to relax!
The location was also great, about 5 minutes walk to the beach. Shopping facilities were also within easy reach.
For us, it was the perfect house to unwind and forget the stress of everyday life.
Many thanks also to Mrs. Kraus for her efforts and interest in our well-being through personal enquiries, this is not always experienced and we appreciate it very much.

Wonderful short holiday

We have stayed in this beautiful house for a few days several times now and we are always thrilled. It is the perfect place to get away from it all. The house is very clean and furnished with all the things you need for a few days of well-being. The decoration is always lovingly adapted to the respective season

Ein prima Urlaub

Although we had some traffic on the way to and from, we had very nice and relaxing days in your holiday home in Schillig. There were sunny, cloudy, and even some rainy days, but that didn't stop us from taking a walk on the beach every day and of course spending hours at the playground watching the little one climb and slide. We felt comfortable in your house from the very first moment. Spacious, bright, and friendly, each family member had their own retreat in the house, and my husband could indulge in his hobby of "cooking" as all the necessary equipment was available, which is by no means a given! The cart was in daily use and sometimes served as a sleeping place for our granddaughter when we didn't make it home in time. Overall, a wonderful vacation. If we ever vacation in Schillig again, you will be our first choice. Thank you once again and best regards

Always a pleasure

We come to Schillig twice a year and rent this beautiful house. Everything is really available, very clean, and offers plenty of space. The location by the fields is unique, and there is always something to watch. From the fireplace to the grill, everything is available. You can quickly walk to the village or the beach. I have lived in several houses/bungalows for rent in Schillig/Horumersiel in the last 30 years, but this house is by far the most beautiful, comfortable accommodation. Ein wirklich schöner Urlaub

We had the pleasure of spending a week's vacation in the truly beautiful holiday home. The holiday home is furnished very tastefully. Not only the color-coordinated design of the bedrooms, but also the fully equipped kitchen and the adjoining living room with fireplace round off the positive overall impression. All rooms and bathrooms were clean and inviting for use. From the kitchen, you have direct access to the terrace with an unobstructed view over fields, where you can observe many animals. The way to the "city center" and the beach is as described.

The contact with the landlords was very friendly. We will definitely spend our vacation again in this holiday home.

We (3 generations) were more than satisfied with the house and the location. Nothing was missing. House top, all rooms top furnished/decorated. Worth a visit even in the cooler season!

The house once again captivated us completely, after we had stayed there in the summer of 2014 with our daughter and 3 grandchildren. It is very well thought out and lovingly furnished, and nothing is missing. The house is meticulously maintained inside and out, and everything is spotless. The sheltered terrace with a beach chair and view of the vast fields was once again a special pleasure. We enjoyed using the bicycles provided for extensive rides. The owners are helpful and courteous. We can highly recommend the house and would gladly rent it again anytime a North Sea vacation is planned.

A barrier-free dream house for a relaxing North Sea holiday.

Dear holidaymaker, dear Kraus family,

In my review, I would like to primarily provide information about the accessibility of the house, especially for wheelchair users, to give them the opportunity to determine if the house meets their special needs. The house fully met my needs and I felt very comfortable. I myself use a rigid-frame wheelchair, but I also try to give visitors using electric wheelchairs an impression of the house.

I would like to briefly mention that the only element in the house that visibly indicates accessibility at first glance is a grab bar in the bathroom. However, this can be folded up. Visitors without disabilities should not be deterred by the fact that the house is classified as accessible. It is a normal house where one can also move well as a wheelchair user due to its construction.

Overall, we liked the house very much and we would love to come back! We were thrilled from the first step inside and remained so until the last day. Especially the kitchen is very well-equipped and everything is just as cozy and beautifully furnished as the pictures suggest. The house is located in a quiet area; the location directly by a field already offers a beautiful view from the living room/kitchen while having breakfast, and if you're lucky, you can see a few rabbits hopping around.

Now, regarding accessibility: Apart from a staircase, the entrance to the house can also be reached with a wheelchair via a path. This path is quite steep, so one needs to exert a certain amount of strength to cross it alone. Accessible with a wheelchair only on the ground floor of the house, where the living room/kitchen, a bedroom with a double bed, one of the two bathrooms, and a storage room are located. All doors are wide enough to pass through even with an electric wheelchair.

The double bed in the bedroom is a regular bed without electric adjustability. However, it is quite high, so there is no significant height difference to bridge when transferring. There is enough space around the bed so that the existing cabinets can be easily accessed with a wheelchair. With an electric wheelchair, one will probably only be able to reach the front bed, as there is little space for maneuvering in the rear area.

The bathroom is spacious. The sink is wheelchair-accessible and the mirror can be folded down if needed. The shower does not have a shower tray, making it easily accessible with a shower wheelchair. Next to the toilet is the aforementioned grab bar, which can be folded up if necessary.

The living room and kitchen are very spacious. I could easily slide under the kitchen table without bumping my knees, and the small table in front of the sofa can be easily moved in case one wants to transfer from the wheelchair to the sofa. The threshold to the terrace is flattened, so it can be crossed with the wheelchair without difficulty. Finally, I would like to highlight the friendly contact with the Kraus family. We had a very nice exchange, and the deposit was reliably refunded to me after our vacation.

Vicinity of the holiday home: Ostfriesland habe ich als überaus barrierefrei empfunden. Wir haben größere Orte wie Aurich, Esens, Jever und Wilhelmshaven besucht; aber auch viele kleine Küstenorte. Bis auf wenige Ausnahmen gibt es kein/kaum Kopfsteinpflaster, und wenn doch, kann man es umfahren. Öffentliche Behinderten-WCs sind meistens vorhanden und teilweise haben wir sogar in den Cafés welche vorgefunden. An dieser Stelle mehr ins Detail zu gehen würde den Rahmen einer solchen Bewertung sprengen. Aber es sei gesagt: Als Rollstuhlfahrer kann man eine Reise nach Ostfriesland durchaus wagen.

free time activities: Wir waren im März dort, haben in erster Linie viele Orte besichtigt und Spaziergänge gemacht. Hierfür hat Ostfriesland einiges zu bieten, schöne Strandpromenaden für Spaziergänge, malerische Küstenorte, gemütliche Cafés.

shopping facilities: Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind in der näheren Umgebung zu finden. Mit dem Auto ist der nächste Supermarkt in 5 - 10 Minuten erreichbar.
