relaxing stay with a view of the valley

We spent 5 days in Unterweisbach. We immediately felt at home in the little house, which nestles on the mountainside. The view into the valley was beautiful. The nearby road was not noisy and not busy.
The cottage had everything we needed to relax. Sure, the stairs to the basement take a bit of getting used to, but nothing that man/woman couldn't handle. We really liked the surroundings and the hiking trails adjacent to the house. The reservoir is worth seeing and especially walking around. The landlords were very nice in email correspondence, always answered immediately and the key handover went smoothly. So all in all we found it great.

Escape from everyday life for a week

There is nothing missing in this holiday home, you immediately feel at home. Because of the stairs to the house, I was a little worried that our 16-year-old dog wouldn't make it. But she had no problems. All in all, a holiday in this house and the wonderful surroundings is to be recommended.
Only the price for the dog per day is a bit high in my opinion.

Great / Dreamlike

There is no way to describe it. The location, view and facilities were exactly what we hoped for and got. The house itself was cosy and you felt like you had arrived. We were there with our dogs and hiking ? was our goal. You could start right from the house. We like it very quiet and so it was. Wonderful smell of the forest with wonderful birdsong. In the house you noticed that you were welcome with many little attentions. Everything was thought of so that we didn't have to contact anyone for any questions. Whether it is hiking trails or where to eat or buy, information is on site. Thanks to the house rules we also knew what could be done and how. You notice immediately how much effort is made to make it a nice holiday. Thank you again for that ☺️ And if you have a question about the area, the people in the village are very nice and helpful? We miss the time already ?

Great location

We, 2 adults and 1 dog, come from Thuringia and felt very comfortable here in the forest. For hikers and dog owners, the location in the middle of the forest is ideal and the view from the living room and kitchen is wonderful. Those who love peace and quiet will get their money's worth here. The equipment of the house with dishes, electrical appliances, fireplace, TV, hairdryer, hair straightener and much more leaves nothing to be desired. The house and property are a bit outdated, but it has its charm.

Again and again!

After 9 years we came back to the wonderful holiday home at the Red Stone.
At that time, we had always planned that when the child was big enough, we would come again

The all-round balcony with the amazing view was once again intoxicating. We had bright sunshine for days and were able to enjoy it even more.

In the small shop down in the village you can get everything you need
The restaurant offers really delicious food.

Beautiful holiday home, a paradise, one week was simply too short.
The weather was really good, we could even have breakfast on the balcony and enjoy the sun.
The steep stairs to the house only caused problems when carrying the heavy e-bikes upstairs, otherwise no problem.

Summer vacation.

The holiday home is located very beautifully above Unterweißbach. There is no lack of amenities. However, if you are not good on foot, you should avoid the stairs in the house. You can also access the lower floor, where the bathroom and toilet are located, through the terrace outside. The best part was that after our extensive hikes, we could relax in the bathtub and then lie down on the loungers :-)

For the fourth time, my three friends and I have been to Am Roten Stein for a short holiday. It was once again wonderfully beautiful. This time, the weather was even very warm, so we could use the terrace for sunbathing extensively. The best time of the year!

Waking up in the morning and having a coffee on the terrace while watching the sun rise slowly behind the mountain. You live beautifully and secluded in the cozy domicile and instantly feel at home. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. The bakery is 5 minutes down the mountain and offers fresh bread as well as essential groceries, mostly in cans. The beds are very comfortable. But one doesn't want to spend much time there, because the nearby attractions are so enticing. Unfortunately, during our stay, almost everything was closed, so we will have to come back again soon! :)

Restful vacation

We were allowed to occupy the beautifully situated holiday home from 27.10.20 to 03.11.20. We really enjoyed the vacation! The house is equipped with everything you need, and after long walks, we spent our evenings by the fireplace. If you are looking for peace and relaxation, this is the right place! Vacation in the forest

A very beautiful holiday home. The interior staircase is not suitable for everyone (knee problems), but you can easily access the bathroom area through the external staircase. Unser Urlaub

The holiday home is top equipped, everything is very clean, there are no wishes left unfulfilled. The only thing is the approach to the property, which is quite adventurous. The path is not paved and not suitable for driving. The "parking possibility" in front of the house is also unusual. A storm was reported (which thankfully passed), and I drove my car to the construction site as a precaution because I was afraid that the makeshift parking lot might slide away.

Other than that, the vacation home is great, we would love to come back.

Beautiful hike and short vacation

The house is located very beautifully above a valley on a hill, making it a bit secluded and very quiet. You can relax and find peace there, escaping from everyday stress. Every morning, you can have a wonderful breakfast in the sun on the veranda. The dam and the surroundings offer easy paths for leisurely walks. In the evening, a barbecue and fire pit invite you to sit together, eat, and chat.

Relaxing holiday

Thank you for a wonderful relaxing holiday at the Rote Stein in the Scharzatal Thuringian Forest! The accommodation was as described, only the view from the balcony was not as described, it was much more beautiful!!!! The journey was adventurous but manageable. You quickly got used to the stairs to the house and even our 10 year old Labrador managed them. Kitchen, bathroom, fireplace room etc were clean and everything was there. The steps to the lower floor, also as described, is only for nimble little feet :) The garden downstairs was unfortunately not accessible. I would have liked to have been able to do this. The lighting inside and outside was sufficient everywhere, especially at night:) It was a successful, beautiful holiday for us, especially the evenings on this beautiful balcony with this dream view!!!!

We wanted to have a nice short vacation, unfortunately it was not like that. We have already spent our vacation in other holiday homes, and we always liked it, but something like this has never happened to us. Upon arriving at the holiday home, what a shock, the access and the steep external staircase are not suitable for dogs and children. We were glad that our dogs arrived safely on the balcony. Are we supposed to vacation here? we won't stay any longer, before one of us or our dogs breaks a leg, even the lower terrace probably hasn't seen a broom in a long time and the overgrown property, it looked different in the photo, what's the use if the description says the property is fenced, but it's not clear if the fence is intact, and you can't even walk the property because it's so overgrown. So we left very disappointed on the same day. The next day, we informed the landlord that we were back home and very disappointed, but the landlord's comment was that one must read between the lines, then such things would not happen. Not even the final cleaning and the price for our dogs were refunded to us. For us, it had been expenses without any gain.

It was our second holiday with our dogs in the holiday home and for us it is perfect. The location, the view, the beautiful forest and the wonderful nature. Simply beautiful to unwind. The hiking trail starts right behind the house. With a bit of luck, the grass snake will be basking on the terrace:)
The house has everything you need. We have been on holiday in various holiday homes for many years and the furnishings often leave a lot to be desired.
Yes, the journey is adventurous and so is the car park, but you get used to it. But I'm in the forest and not in a 5-star hotel.
The stairs from the path to the house were no problem for us and our dogs.
There is a steep and narrow staircase leading to the lower area (bathroom, second bedroom), but you get used to that too.
All in all, a wonderful holiday for us.

For healthy, dizzy-free, slim adventurers.

The approach to the holiday home is already an adventure. On the long, unpaved, single-lane road, one wishes for a Land Rover and almost prays that no one will come from the opposite direction. With the mountain on the left and the precipice on the right, there is no room to maneuver. Definitely not recommended for sporty or low-riding cars. Upon arrival, one must squeeze the car to the side of the road. The neighbor, with a perfectly constructed parking space, shows that it can be done differently. Then comes the steep staircase down to the property. The first approximately 5 steps don't even have a handrail, then the note that there is a risk of slipping on the metal stairs. We had to carry our dog, who normally takes every staircase, every time (down and up). Once that is overcome and the first door is passed through, you stand on the truly great balcony and have a beautiful view. If you want to go to the toilet or the bathroom in the house, you have to go down a spiral staircase with very short steps and face a narrow passageway that only fits sideways or with arms outstretched as an adult. The bathroom seems to be quite new and modern, but getting hot water is time-consuming. Many cabinets in the house are taped shut and labelled as "private." There is a lot of clutter around (such as travel souvenirs, flea market junk, or Christmas decorations on the kitchen windowsill) which gives a messy impression. The outdoor area also looks untidy. The balcony boxes are a sorry sight. We were actually looking forward to nice BBQ evenings, but the terrace does not invite that at all. However, what we would like to mention very positively is the condition/cleanliness of the dishes. We would have preferred to turn around and leave as soon as we arrived. However, we managed to stay for a few days, but not the full booked time (Sunday to Sunday), we left again on Wednesday.

Perfect vacation in a dream location

Here one has everything needed for a quiet and relaxing vacation.

We had fantastic weather between Ascension Day and Pentecost in 2017.
The holiday home is fully equipped and lacks nothing. The only downside at the beginning due to the high outside temperatures was that the bathroom was not heated, but we were able to warm it up thanks to Mrs. Taborski providing a heater.
Thanks again for the wonderful holiday days in the beautiful Thuringian Forest.
We hope that the access road will be repaired soon.

A great Christmas time

We rented the vacation house over the Christmas holidays. All our expectations were met. The house was very clean, well-maintained, cozy, and beautifully rurally furnished. We had everything we needed there. The kitchen is well equipped, so we could easily cook our Christmas meal just like at home. The picturesque view from the terrace made our stay even more enjoyable. We really enjoyed the peace and beautiful nature. The Taborski family provided us with excellent telephone advice and was available by phone at all times when we had questions. Quiet with exclusive view

Very beautiful, extremely cozy, and fully equipped holiday house. Fantastic view of the valley (in both valleys...). Some fitness should already be available; therefore, not quite so recommendable for older people or people with disabilities.
All conceivable excursions can be reached by car in a short time and on excellent roads.
However, a "warning" must be given about Thuringian cuisine: weight gain is unavoidable! You simply can't avoid it... And also: Very nice contact with the landlady!

A bit getting used to are the steep spiral staircase to the basement and the traffic noise from the road to Oberweißbach in the early morning. It must be emphasized, however, that a vehicle is only perceived as loud because it is otherwise a b s o l u t e l y quiet!

Insider tip at the edge of the forest in Unterweißbach

Until May 29, 2016, we did not know how beautiful the slate mountains in the Thuringian Forest are. We were able to experience two fantastic weeks in this beautiful nature. We hiked a lot, mostly directly from the house. The trails are well-maintained and well-marked. When it was too hot, we explored the surrounding area by car (Rudolstadt, Saalfeld, Schwarzburg, Bad Blankenburg, etc.). The beautiful holiday home with its unique view has greatly contributed to the success of this vacation. Whether in the living room, kitchen, or on the large balcony or terrace, you can enjoy this view of the valley and the well-kept village of Unterweißbach from all places. We spent a lot of time sitting or lying on the balcony and terrace, enjoying the sun and the bird concert. The house is very generously equipped, nothing is missing, and one is allowed to use things. A well-maintained cozy house. We found it as described on the internet. There are two ways to walk to Unterweißbach: One is via stairs. Out of consideration for our dog, we used the forest path. In just a few minutes, you are in the village below. The small grocery store offers the essentials and, above all, we enjoyed the Thuringian buns. Across the street, you can eat very well at Hotel Hirsch. However, the access to the holiday home can take some getting used to if coming from the city. But with each drive, the way seems shorter and one gains confidence with slower driving. We thank the friendly landlords very much, we felt very comfortable in your house. We spent a very nice week in the idyllic holiday home at Roter Stein. We found everything as described in the advertisement. The house is clean, cozy, and practical with a great view. It has everything (and more) you need for a relaxing stay. Also helpful is a folder with excursion and hiking tips. Our dogs (2 Australian Shepherds) also felt comfortable right away. The steep stairs in the house were no problem for them, but there is also the alternative to go outside around the house to the lower floor. We would recommend a hike to the Barigauer Tower. There you have a beautiful view, a nice atmosphere, great food, and dogs are also welcome. We felt well taken care of by the landlords, the contact was very nice. We can definitely recommend the house.

Absolut erholsam

If you are looking for peace and love nature, you are absolutely in the right place in the truly lovely holiday home on the hill. With the beautiful view, it feels like time stands still and you can simply enjoy it. The cottage is exactly as described, and you can start hiking right from the house. The restaurant "Zum Hirsch" is also highly recommended. Great cuisine, lovely atmosphere, nice service. We will gladly come back. Annett and Andreas from Leipzig. Overall, everything has been great.

In the middle of nature

Dear Taboroski family, thank you for a very relaxing week in your cozy holiday home! We enjoyed the most the morning coffee in the sunshine by the large windows and of course the wine by the fireplace in the evenings :-) We felt very comfortable. Warm regards.

Holiday home in the Thuringian Forest for a relaxing stay

All information in the advertisement corresponded exactly to reality. The house is very cozy and clean and offers plenty of storage space. The bedrooms are small, but the beds were very comfortable to sleep in. On the balcony, you could still enjoy the sunrays in October. The diverse excursion possibilities nearby offered a lot of variety. Recommended is the circular hike around the Leibis/Licht reservoir on the sculpture trail with beautiful views and carved benches. The Schwarzburg Castle, the Schwarzatal in the Schwarza River, and the towns of Saalfeld and Rudolstadt are worth a visit. It was also nice that we could watch our old VHS tapes. In previous holidays, we often experienced that the heating was not yet set up at this time of year. At the Roten Stein, this was optimal. We also found it very pleasant to have the option of leaving the key at the "Hirsch" guesthouse when departing, as we were sometimes stressed when the cleaning lady arrived early or had to wait for the handover. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation.

Great house in beautiful natural surroundings

We spent a fantastic autumn holiday week here. The house is very cozy and clean with all the trimmings (LCD flat screen, DVD player, dishwasher, microwave...). We sat outside on the balcony many evenings and were amazed by the starry sky. We brought everything we needed for a week and didn't use the car. We went hiking every day. The hike from the house to the dog training area (training is held there on Saturdays) and the walk along the Schwarza River to the departure point of the Oberweißbach mountain railway were particularly beautiful. You simply don't encounter people sometimes, where does that still happen. We will return.
