Forest, water and tranquillity combined with many activities and excursion destinations on the Rennsteig are the ingredients for a relaxing time in the Thuringian Forest. The starting point for this is our holiday home in Gießübel, Schleusegrund municipality with Schönbrunn terrace pool between the middle Rennsteig, Schönbrunn drinking water dam, Ratscher mountain lake, Otilienbad Suhl, Masserberg ski lift and Heubach ski arena.

The landlord does not live on the property, but can be reached by phone. In the guest folder you will also find all information about shopping, eating, drinking and much more. WLAN with internet flat rate (LTE) on request.

The terrace, courtyard, porch and shed are available for smokers. Smoking is not permitted in the house. Pets are only possible on request. Arrival is usually 4-6 pm, departure until 10 am.

Holiday home in quiet third row to the main road; Thuringian sausages, beverage shop and free public parking within a few minutes walk - handcart is in the bike shed ;~)

Behind the house is directly the Sommerberg, over which the Schönbrunn Dam. and Neustadt am Rennsteig can be reached. Through the village you can reach the Gießübler Schweiz and the Skiarea Heubach in 5 minutes. Down the valley along the Neubrunn you can cycle to the Schönbrunn terraced swimming pool or on to the Ratscher mountain lake. Central for excursions to the Oberhof ski hall, the Ilmenau ice rink, the Ottilienbad Suhl or the heated Ilmenau open-air swimming pool.
Milder climate than directly on the Rennsteig. Quiet mountain village in the Thuringian Forest. Visitors can choose from about 50 kilometres of well-signposted hiking trails and, in winter, 25 kilometres of groomed cross-country ski trails. There are viewpoints all around the village, such as the Rondell on the Löffelberg.

The eye of a needle is a striking rock formation in Gießübler Schweiz, which also adorns the municipal coat of arms. The nature trail in Gießübler Schweiz shows the local flora and various types of rock.

Who seeks peace on the Schlei fjord is in good hands here.

Those seeking peace will find it here. Beautifully furnished small house, right next to a stream. The equipment leaves nothing to be desired for everyday life. The only criticism may be the outdoor parking, as you have to walk three meters. Well-suited as a starting point for Rennsteig hikes. We started from here towards Erfurt and Weimar, which can be reached in about an hour.

Again and again with pleasure

We spent a week in this wonderful holiday home.
The house is very comfortably furnished and beautifully renovated. Absolutely recommendable with a toddler. Everything you need is there.
The location is quiet in the second row on a slope. From Gießübel there are many hiking trails to explore. The paths on the Sommerberg in the direction of Schönbrunn are also easily accessible with prams.
We felt at home and would love to come back.

Beautiful holiday home

We stayed in this holiday home for the second time this year, it is beautifully located in the Thuringian Forest. It is ideal with small children, there is a small children's room and there are enough toys to keep the little ones occupied even on rainy days. The furnishings are made with a lot of love.

Very beautiful vacation house

We spent a week at the holiday home "Am Sommerberg" with our two children and felt very comfortable there. The house is nice and spacious and very lovingly furnished. We have rarely experienced such a well-equipped holiday home!

Very good!

The holiday home "Am Sommerberg" is spacious and furnished with attention to detail. Great importance is also placed on the little ones, as there are plenty of toys available. There is no room for boredom in the house. We felt very comfortable and look forward to a reunion.

Spontaneous short break - gladly again

Simple but cosy, house is well kept and clean, organisation (booking / handing over of keys) without any problems, kitchen appliances all worked well

Good for walking holidays, in rainy weather you can visit Ilmanau or Schleusingen or Suhl, but you have to allow some driving time.

There was more than enough room for two people, so we didn't mind that one room was a passageway.

We will definitely come back again!

very cosy

By chance we found this gem on the sunny side of Giesübel in the valley on the Sommerberg. We immediately felt at home. The furnishings are top notch. All rooms are furnished with attention to detail. A beautiful bathroom on each floor. The kitchen has everything you need. The kitchen cooker, which provides additional warmth in the cold season, makes for a cosy atmosphere. There is enough wood in the shed. Bicycles can also be used freely. For romantics there is a fire bowl, for barbecue enthusiasts the barbecue and fuel, and hiking fans will find all the latest hiking maps in the living room. We liked it very much. The price-performance ratio is unbeatable. We will come again.

I warmly welcome you to my birthplace! You live where I was able to experience a beautiful childhood. Now you too can enjoy the peace and closeness to nature on the Rennsteig, in Gießübler Schweiz at Dachsbach! Make excursions to the beautiful terraced swimming pool or the 500-metre sandy beach of the mountain lake Ratscher, just like I did! Maybe we'll see each other on the cross-country trails, at the ski lift or the indoor ski slope!
