Location
In the east of Istria, just 15 km from the sea, lies the medieval town of Pican, a town with a rich history and cultural heritage that today hosts galleries and artists all year round. Pican is located near the town of Labin. Labin is a small town in the interior of Istria which, with its beautiful old town built on an acropolis and its rich cultural and monumental heritage, attracts many curious visitors. It is only three kilometres from the sea. Below the hill of the old town, the urban area of Podlabin was formed, and the two settlements together have around 12,500 inhabitants. Labin, a rare blend of Mediterranean climate and rich architectural heritage, has developed into a centre for artists from around the world, as evidenced by numerous studios in the old town. Furthermore, Labin is a mecca for small businesses and the second-largest exporter in Istria. Together with Rabac, under the administration of the City of Labin, it achieves over one million tourist overnight stays in hotel and apartment accommodation.
