Location and surroundings of object
The beautiful bay of Gradina is located 5 km from Vela Luka. It faces west on the inner side of the Vela Luka bay. It is a very popular destination for tourists, locals, and sailors who find a safe harbor here. In recent years, Gradina has been turning into a tourist settlement with a rich offer of villas, houses, and apartments. The bay is adorned by the small islet Gubeša, and in the distance the view is graced by the rocky islet Kamenjak—the home of a seagull colony. The coast is rocky, partly concreted, with gravel entrances to the sea, and a few small sandy beaches suitable for bathing small children. The bay has its own history and the small church of St. John from the 14th century. Every year on St. John's Day, June 24th, a traditional regatta starts from the bay with a special program. While staying here, we recommend a pleasant walk to this church.
