In the cozy living room, a beautiful open stone fireplace provides comfortable warmth and makes the house especially inviting in autumn and winter. The bathroom was modernized in 2025, and the dining and living areas were also upgraded with new furniture in 2025.
Bicycles can be safely stored in a former spacious fitness room.
SAT-TV with all common German channels as well as fast, free Wi-Fi access complete the entertainment package. You will find the bedrooms on the upper floor, which can be reached via a closed wooden staircase. From the kitchen and the living room you can access the terrace through sliding doors. The sofa in the living room can be converted into an additional sleeping area if needed.
The floors: terracotta tiles on the ground floor, warm laminate in the bedrooms upstairs.
The property is completely fenced or walled in and accessible only through a small gate, which guarantees peace and privacy. On the terrace you can enjoy the idyllic garden, where something is always in bloom from spring to summer.
The landlords’ residence is located directly on the street, while the small holiday house is situated a little further down the valley behind it – NOT directly on the street. This way you can enjoy the wonderful peace and quiet, and still easily reach the charming marina as well as the center of Carteret, the market, and the supervised bathing beach on foot. The friendly, discreet landlords are happy to assist you with tips and recommendations or, if you need help, are gladly at your disposal.

Location and surroundings of object
Barneville-Carteret consists, as the name already suggests, of two independent, charming villages. The small holiday house is located in Carteret, at a sufficient distance below the landlords’ residence, which is situated directly on the road, “down the valley” towards the sea. Because of this location, you can find peace here away from the road. In the off-season, it is of course less lively than in the high season. The road leads directly to Carteret, past the charming marina.

The charming, picturesque center of the seaside resort Carteret not only houses various nice small shops but also a 3-star restaurant and a cinema. The charming marina of Carteret is also worth seeing.
On the way to the lighthouse "Le Phare" on Cap de Carteret, you will pass beautiful Belle Epoque villas. The Cap faces the Channel Islands Sark and Jersey. From the lighthouse, you can reach the miles-long sandy beach of Cap de Carteret - one of the most beautiful on the entire peninsula - by a footpath passing the ruins of the 12th-century Saint-Germain church. Through the adjacent vast dune landscape of Hatainville (400 hectares), there are marvelous circular trails. Even in the peak season, hikers can find peace and relaxation here.
At the Office de Tourisme in Carteret, you can also book ferries to the Channel Island of Jersey for day trips. The picturesque former fishing village of Portbail-sur-mer is just a few kilometers away by car.
In the east of Cotentin are the Allied landing beaches, from which they ended the occupation of France in 1944 (D-Day beaches Omaha-Beach, Utah-Beach). A visit to the many museums there is definitely worthwhile. On the anniversary (6/6/1944), there are many parades and the villages and towns are festively decorated. In all the small villages, you'll find wonderful weekly markets on different days and many events in the summer. Additionally, there are beautiful golf courses and opportunities for horse enthusiasts to go riding on the beach.
