Firrel is a charming little village in Lower Saxony, Germany, with about 800 inhabitants. It is idyllically situated between three small woods: Kloster Barthe, Oldehave, and Hollesand.
The nearest shopping facilities are approximately 6 to 9 km away in Hesel or Remels.
About 15 km away in Großsander in the municipality of Remels, there is a great swimming lake. Additionally, you will find a Paddle and Pedal station in Remels.
Also, 15 km away, you can reach the climatic health resort Timmel in the municipality of Großefehn. There is also an attractive swimming lake there.
Great excursion destinations about 20 km away include Leer with its maritime flair and the picturesque old town, or Aurich with attractive offerings. The monastic imagination in Ihlow must not be forgotten.
You can reach the flower town of Wiesmoor in about 15 minutes by car. In the Eiland in Westgroßefehn and in the Cafe am Park in Mittegroßefehn as well as in the Bauerhofcafe Ostendorf in Poghausen/Remels, you will be welcomed with tea and homemade cakes.
Emden with its harbor and the Ottohuus as well as Papenburg with the Meyer shipyard are easy to reach.
The North Sea coast is about 50 km away, for which you can plan about 50 minutes of travel time.

Also suitable for short trips
We were only a few days in the vacation apartment Karl, but we had a very nice time there. The amenities for a vacation apartment are above average and the cleanliness left nothing to be desired. Those looking for some peace and relaxation are exactly right here. The location is central in East Frisia and larger towns can be easily reached in a few minutes. Even as a native East Frisian, I was thrilled. We will be very happy to return at the right opportunity.
