Through the brightly painted blue entrance door, you enter the small hallway. To the left, the door opens to the spacious living room with a seating area, dining area, and fireplace.
From the dining area, you can access the sun terrace, where you can enjoy the sun for most of the day.
If you turn to the right again, you enter the spacious kitchen with a small breakfast nook. From here, you can access both the modern shower room in the newly designed annex and the lower bedroom, which is equipped with a pull-out double bed (1.60 m).

On the first floor, you will find two bedrooms with double beds (1.80m and 1.40m).
The suspended ceilings and the lateral chambers typical in old Swedish houses have been removed here, creating spacious, bright rooms with a view of the open roof truss.
From up here, you overlook the property and experience the sunrise up close. With a bit of luck, you can observe deer, rabbits, foxes, and occasionally moose during breakfast.
The house comes with a nearly 3000 m² natural property, inviting for playing, romping, and relaxing. The only neighbors (not permanently inhabited) are far enough away that they do not disturb each other.
Since the house is located at the end of a small dead-end road, there is no through traffic.
A grill and garden furniture are available for our guests. Målerås is located in the heart of the Kingdom of Crystal in Småland. In the last century, there were numerous glassworks here that primarily produced utility glass. Due to competition from the Far East and declining demand, many workshops have not survived. The few that still exist today have specialized in art glass and art objects and are definitely worth a visit.

Målerås is located in the heart of the Glass Kingdom in Småland. In the last century, there were numerous glassworks here, primarily producing utilitarian glass. Due to competition from the Far East and declining demand, many works did not survive. The few that still exist today have specialized in art glass and art objects and are definitely worth a visit. In the town, there is the traditional "Målerås Glasbruck", which is managed by the internationally renowned glass artist Mats Jonasson. In the surrounding area, one can find well-known names such as Orrefors, Kosta, Boda, and Pukeberg—all of which can be visited.
But it's not only the glass that is special here. In Målerås, there is the 7 km long "Gråstensmon" - a hiking trail that takes you from the local swimming lake through glacial end moraines, past deserted villages and robbers' caves, over moors and river landscapes through magnificent nature. Encountering the "King of the Forest," the moose, is not uncommon here.
At the swimming lake, which is within walking distance and has changing rooms and seating areas, it's great for cooling off. Anglers find their joy at the numerous lakes and the fish-rich river Alsterån. There are even supposed to be salmon there.
The city of Kalmar, located on the Baltic Sea and 60 km away, invites you to stroll and wander with its picturesque alleys in the old town and a grand castle. Here, you can also reach the Swedish holiday island Öland via a bridge, where the royal family spends their vacation. Öland offers numerous natural and holiday experiences such as the bird observatory at the southern tip, the great Alvar, Neptune's Gardens near Byxelkrog, and not least the enchanted forest "Trollskog". It also attracts with wonderful bathing beaches and amusement parks.
Whether in the area around the numerous lakes, in the pretty towns along the coast, while hiking or mountain biking in and around Målerås, or directly on the approximately 3000 m² vacation home property - relaxation is guaranteed!

Cozy and very quiet
For us, it was the first vacation in Sweden and we will definitely come back.
The house is very well equipped, spotlessly clean, and extremely cozy. The location is absolutely quiet.

Great accommodation and landlord
We were and are thrilled with this charming and lovingly furnished little house? We felt at home and always returned there with a smile after our many excursions. The incredibly nice landlords were always ready to provide tips and advice both before and during our trip. We can highly recommend this accommodation and urge every traveler to Sweden to consider it.

A dream

Pure relaxation
We were two people with two dogs visiting this beautiful, detail-loving Swedish house for 2.5 weeks. We and the dogs really enjoyed it, and we were able to relax very well due to the quiet location. One evening, a deer also visited us and came as close as 10 meters to the house. The location is very good for numerous excursion destinations. We particularly liked the quiet location and the many peaceful hiking trails through varied nature and the many lakes. We can recommend the holiday home without reservation, both with a dog and for families. The landlords are very nice and helpful and have also provided many helpful tips for excursion destinations.
That was certainly not our last visit to Sweden ☺️

The House from Lindgren's Books
We were in Sweden for the very first time over Christmas and New Year’s and enjoyed our time in the cute little house very much. It is just what we as Germans imagine a Swedish house to be.
