Treat yourself to some time out and enjoy an unforgettable holiday in our charming holiday home in Edenkoben on the Southern Wine Route in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The cottage is in an idyllic and quiet location - yet in the centre of the village and secluded - in the approx. 900 m2 garden. It offers 50 square metres of space for up to four people and has a bedroom with two beds, a bedroom with one bed and two pull-out sofa beds in the living room. The bathroom has a shower, washbasin, WC and washing machine.
The heart of the house is the living area with an inviting fireplace and a cosy seating area that invites you to linger and relax. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary appliances, including a dishwasher, microwave, mini-oven, toaster, egg and kettle and two coffee machines (including a SENSEO), as well as the essentials such as a fridge and electric hob. A TV, free Wi-Fi, board games and books provide entertainment and comfort.
Central heating provides constant cosy warmth.
The holiday home has its own enclosed garden, which invites you to relax and enjoy, sharing it only with birds and squirrels. A barbecue area is available for you to prepare delicious meals outdoors. The terrace is the perfect place to end the day with a glass of wine and enjoy the picturesque view. The "floating lounger" is the highlight of the garden; you can relax on it alone or as a couple and enjoy nature with all your senses.
A free car parking space is available directly at the house.

Location and surroundings of object
Edenkoben is located on the German Wine Route in the centre of the Mannheim, Kaiserslautern and Karlsruhe metropolitan triangle; more precisely, in the middle between Neustadt/Weinstrasse and Landau/Pfalz, on the eastern edge of the Haardt Mountains and at the foot of Villa Ludwigshöhe, the summer residence of King Ludwig of Bavaria. The surrounding area is characterised by vines and forest, offering a special kind of nature experience. From here you can go hiking/cycling to suit your mood and fitness level. Hikers will get their money's worth with a network of 400 km of long-distance and local trails, so there is something for everyone. The "Pfälzer Weinsteig" award-winning hiking trail is a particular highlight for all hikers. The really sporty ones can take on the ascent to the Kalmit (673 metres above sea level), the highest point on the Southern Wine Route. A special feature of the entire Palatinate Forest are the catered huts run by the 'Pfälzer Waldverein' and the 'Naturfreundehäuser', which provide plenty of healthy air to keep hunger and thirst at bay while hiking. The hut culture in the Palatinate has recently received special recognition through its inclusion in Germany's intangible cultural heritage. Excursions are a special experience in all directions, whether westwards into the Palatinate Forest, eastwards into the Rhine plain or north/southwards along the vineyards of the Southern Wine Route. Nearby Alsace is also no more than half an hour's drive away.

Also worth mentioning is the "Alla-Hopp" leisure centre on the outskirts of Edenkoben with plenty of free parking spaces - a playground for young and old, as well as toilet facilities. Use of the entire facility is free for everyone.
The Hambach Castle (considered the cradle of German democracy) and the Villa Ludwigshöhe (summer residence of King Ludwig of Bavaria) are just a short distance away. The oldest chairlift in the country takes you up to Rietburg Castle with its game reserve and an open-air terrace with a magnificent view over the forests and vineyards of the Southern Wine Route.
Other leisure activities include the Hilschweiher pond with rowing boats in Edenkoben, the Reptilium and the zoo in Landau (approx. 10 km), the Holiday Park in Haßloch (approx. 15 km) and the Kaiserdom, Technikmuseum, Sealife in Speyer (approx. 20 km) where you also have the opportunity to experience a boat trip on the Rhine and Old Rhine.

Dream vacation in a dream holiday home
For the umpteenth time, we spent a fantastic holiday week in the witch's cottage of the Kohl family in Edenkoben - we are always excited and have already signed up for 2026 again! The wonderful garden with the original swing is pure relaxation and peace, and for dog Aliki, it's a paradise! The furnishings in the vacation home are perfect, and the surroundings offer everything that is desirable: walks through the vineyards or along the Triefenbach, hiking to castles, abundant deciduous forests, and everything can be reached either directly from the house or within a short drive. Additionally, the culinary delights of the Palatinate and the charming Palatinate dialect - wonderful! We are already looking forward to our vacation in 2026 at the Kohl family vacation home in Edenkoben!

Very nice vacation, amazing holiday home.
We spent a week with our dog over New Year's in the holiday home. Everything was perfect, very peaceful location, the garden completely fenced. We will definitely come back. Thank you to the Kohl family.

Great holiday home
We liked it very much. The garden is very large and well-maintained, perfect for dogs. The house was very clean and cozily furnished. We would come back anytime. The surrounding area is wonderful as well. Many attractions and delicious restaurants nearby.

Small house with a paradise-like surroundings
Even though the former workshop converted into a holiday home is very small at 55 square meters over 2 floors, it lacks nothing that is necessary for a cozy stay in a holiday home. The highlight, however, is undoubtedly the nearly 1000 square meter garden with a huge lawn and magnificent tree population. Directly from the house, hikes to Villa Ludwigshöhe, Rietburg ruins, Kalmit with its grand rock sea, or a beautiful hike along the Triefenbach from the spring below the Schänzelturm to the Alla hopp facility and into the town center of Edenkoben are possible. As a local recommendation, we would suggest the Italian restaurant La Piazza, where you can particularly enjoy wonderful seafood among palm trees and olive trees. If the weather is bad, you can take a look at Mannheim, for example.

Dear interested party, To be honest: we first came to holiday home rental because we didn't know what to do with a plot of land and the old house on it. My wife Uschi was of the opinion that she could imagine the contact with holiday guests to be very interesting and varied; so we invested - in the meantime we have been "doing" this for over 25 years in which my wife has literally mutated into a "hostel mother" - and we still have fun and enjoy it.
