Welcome to our "family nest" in Altenau in the Harz Mountains.
Our family nest is an accommodation for everyone: whether you are travelling alone in search of relaxation, for couples or friends as a start to a hiking holiday or for families with children who don't want to worry about toy luggage and sleeping facilities.
We wanted to create a place that was welcoming and complete.
We have always preferred holiday flats and rarely stayed in hotels. And so we have summarised our positive experiences and open wishes regarding accommodation over the last few years and combined everything that makes it perfect for us.
Equipped with a family bed (2.40x2.00m), a secured bunk bed, a baby travel cot and a sofa bed, it offers enough space and sleeping options for single visitors, couples and families with up to 3 children (more on request).
In addition to the two bedrooms, each of which has a wardrobe, the flat has an open-plan kitchen/living room with modern equipment.
The inviting hallway area is the perfect place to prepare for any outdoor activity. It offers plenty of space and storage options.
The flat also has a modern shower room and a lovely balcony that invites you to linger.
The children's room is equipped with various play options. From a doll's house to wooden instruments, from books to games and puzzles. Both small and older children will definitely have fun here!
The flat is located on the 1st floor of the "Glockenberg" holiday park.
The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. This includes an oven/stove, coffee machine, Nespresso machine, milk frother, toaster, electric coffee grinder and more.
A Smart TV and of course free W-Lan is available.
Various activities and sights are available in the immediate vicinity.
Particularly worth mentioning are the "Heißer Brocken" thermal spa, the Oker Valley dam and the Okerteich forest swimming pool.

In Altenau, in the heart of the Harz mountains.
The mountain town of Altenau lies in the centre of five valleys at the foot of the Bruchberg at an altitude of 450 to 550 m above sea level. In the climatic health resort in the Upper Harz you can enjoy a healthy climate, marvellous nature and pure Harz.
During your holiday in the Upper Harz, Altenau offers numerous recreational and relaxation activities to refresh and revitalise body and soul. For example, you can treat yourself to some time out with a visit to the local sauna and thermal spa Kristall Heißer Brocken and indulge in all-round pampering.
The Harz National Park offers a variety of excursion destinations that appeal to nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts alike
First and foremost is the Brocken: The highest mountain in the Harz Mountains offers breathtaking views and is a popular hiking destination.
- The Bode Valley is an impressive gorge with picturesque rock formations and a wild river.
- The Oderteich is an idyllic reservoir surrounded by dense forests and ideal for walks and picnics.
- The Harz treetop path is an exciting trail that leads through the treetops and offers a unique view of the forest.
- The surrounding towns such as Goslar and Wernigerode also invite you to linger.

This year, our family of three was allowed to spend the Pentecost weekend in the Harz Mountains in this fantastic vacation apartment. It was super cozy, located in a great area. We didn't miss anything!! It is worth mentioning the nice and straightforward contact with the landlord as well as the great service! We are a family of 4 from Hamburg who have fulfilled a small dream of having our own holiday flat in the middle of nature. We live in Hamburg, a large and bustling city. The need to get away from the noise and into the tranquillity of nature was all the stronger. We chose the Harz Mountains. After all our previous visits to the same national park, it really wasn't a difficult decision. So we gave ourselves a jolt and you can experience the result for yourself. As we work and cannot use our family nest all year round, we would like to give you the opportunity to enjoy the advantages of this inexpensive and beautifully furnished holiday flat to the full.
