Description

On the Capo Mele ( Apple Cape ), between Andora in the west and Laigueglia/Alassio in the east, on the most beautiful stretch of the Italian Riviera delle Palme ( Palm Riviera ), lies our small but very special house. It has been in the family since 1963 and was remodelled and extended in 1986 after the land was divided up. Originally the Marquis Maglione, who lived in the valley, had his hunting lodge here. The property consists of a main house with an adjoining former farmhouse (today both are owned by third parties) and the annexe which has been converted into a house, our "Bicocca" (bicocca = dovecote, love nest). We live in the house ourselves several times a year and occasionally rent it out. Many regular tenants have been coming here for years.
As our Bicocca is very close to our hearts and is often lived in by the family, you will find many individual, unconventional and personal items of equipment and furniture here. This is what makes our little house so individual that it cannot be compared with conventional holiday homes.
From the street you enter the entrance (where you will also find the washing machine) and from there into the garden. From the garden you enter the master bedroom, approx. 12 square metres with a double bed. From a small hallway you enter the shower room (approx. 4 square metres) and a small but fully equipped kitchen (approx. 5 square metres, microwave, cooker with 3 gas hobs and an electric hob, 1 induction hob, electric oven, fridge with freezer compartment). From the kitchen it goes into the living room (approx. 14 square metres) with a wood-burning stove (can also be used as an open fireplace, plenty of wood available), sitting area, 6 seats, TV with satellite reception, WLAN. Adjacent to this is a beautiful, large conservatory (14 square metres) with a reading corner and breakfast table. From there you have access to the garden. From the seating area in the garden you enter the children's cottage. Here there are 2 single beds and a washing facility.
The old walls, which are up to 1 metre thick, keep the house pleasantly cool in summer and easy to heat in winter (gas central heating, electric stove/infrared radiator in the children's house). There is a brick patio in front of the children's house and a covered pergola with deckchairs in front of the main house. The Mediterranean garden with lemon and fig trees, a palm tree and local agaves, aloe and flowering climbing plants is - if our visitors take pity on them and water them abundantly - a little paradise. It is surrounded by a natural stone wall and completely enclosed so that there is enough space for pets and dogs to run free. Next to the house is the staircase to the large roof terrace with a seating area and a wonderful double view of the two bays.
If peace and quiet and Mediterranean flair are more important to you than a dishwasher, if you would rather escape from the tourist hustle and bustle into a little paradise than a crowded hotel, if one of the most spectacular sea views in Europe and a beautiful starry sky are more important to you than luxury and a swimming pool, then you have come to the right place.
We generally let all year round by prior arrangement. Arrival day Saturday or by arrangement. Minimum rental period in the season (June to September) 2 weeks. Two or three people are welcome, possibly parents with two older children, as the children's cottage is not directly connected to the main house, but you have to walk about 8 metres through the garden (baby monitor if necessary). The garden with its "pointy" cacti and agaves is not suitable for small children, and you can fall quite far over the wall, so it is not necessarily childproof. Pets are welcome. Dogs can run free in the garden without any problems. (Please only remove the "legacies"!). As we are all non-smokers, we urge you to smoke outside only.
Bed linen and towels are provided on request (20€ per person) Heating fee (15€ per day) only applies from November to April. The final cleaning will be done by a cleaning lady on request (60€).

Location and surroundings of object

Due to its location at the top of the Cap, approx. 230m above the sea, the house belongs to the municipality of Andora (approx. 2.5km), the neighbouring road to Laigueglia (approx. 5km). Alassio is about 8km away. As there is no public transport up the mountain, a car is essential. The motorway goes as far as Andora itself. The Riviera Express (train) also goes to Andora. The nearest airport is Genoa (approx. 85 km) or Nice (also approx. 85 km) (there are inexpensive flights, from there we take a hire car). This is the most beautiful part of the Riviera. The mountains "fall" directly into the sea, so there is no room for tower blocks or greenhouses and Laigueglia and Alassio in particular have retained their old charm. Andora has a beautiful wide beach, well suited for children, as the water only gets deeper very slowly. San Remo, the French border and Monaco are within easy reach, and there are many charming towns and villages in the other direction, and the hinterland is also very beautiful. Our tenants receive many tips from us!

I have been managing my parents' house for more than 15 years and take care of all the necessary matters. As a family mum with pets, I know the questions and wishes and also the problems of our guests. It is important to me that you feel comfortable in our little house and spend a relaxing holiday.
