A holiday in the Franconian Forest promises pure nature and relaxation in an idyllic setting. Our holiday home is located just a few metres from the Frankenwaldsee lake, surrounded by dense forests and a spacious sunbathing lawn. A circular path around the lake invites you to take relaxing walks, while the town of Lichtenberg is only about 3 minutes away. The region offers numerous hiking routes and perfect mountain bike trails that lead directly to Bad Steben, Hölle, Schwarzenbach Wald to the Döbraberg or to the nearby Rennsteig. Here you can enjoy the peace and beauty of the Franconian Forest to the fullest.
Our holiday home has 2 bedrooms and can accommodate up to four people.
It has a living area of about 80 square metres and stands on a 900 square metre plot directly on the edge of the forest. With a bit of luck, you can watch deer from the terrace in the morning or evening. The ground floor comprises a spacious living room with fireplace and SAT-TV, a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, fridge, kettle and coffee machine, a shower room with instantaneous water heater and a washing machine. The south-west terrace invites you to relax outdoors with comfortable chairs, dining table, parasol and barbecue. The 900 square metre garden is not fenced in.

- Directly next to the spa park is the beautiful thermal spa with a really nice sauna world and skypool

- Walk along the Rennsteig, or the Wall Trail between Franconia and Thuringia, as the former inner-German border. (2km away)
- The towns of Coburg and Kulmbach, with their castles and palaces, are well worth a visit.
- Rosenberg Fortress in Kronach with medieval town
- Germany's largest dam "Bleilochtalsperre" ideal for boating with 15HP without a licence, pedal boats - boat hire directly in the town centre
- Saalburg is also home to a fairytale forest, summer toboggan run and even raft hire.
- You can also enjoy a trip across the entire reservoir on the reservoir boat.
- Wonderful for walking and enjoying is the village of Wallenfels, and the nearby Ködeltalsperre with an 11km circular trail, very good to walk!
- There are also wonderful walks on the Döbraberg, the highest mountain in the Franconian Forest at almost 800m. At the top, you can climb the Prinz-Luitpold Tower with 96 steps.
If the weather is bad, simply drive to the chocolate factory and praline factory in Lauenstein and visit Lauenstein Castle.

Our holiday home is located at the top of Bavaria. The village of Lichtenberg is located in the Franconian Forest /Bavaria. The Rennsteig /Thuringia begins 3km away. For trips to the Fichtelgebirge you drive a few kilometres.
Lichtenberg /Bavaria is not far from the health resort Bad Steben. Our holiday home is situated in Lichtenberg at the Frankenwaldsee - in the Frankenwald, in Upper Franconia, Bavaria, in the immediate vicinity of Hirschsprung, Bad Steben, Naila, Hof- Saale, Kronach, Wallenfels, Kulmbach, Döbraberg, Saalburg - Bleilochtalsperre, Ködeltalsperre. Alpine skiing and cross-country skiing are available in Naila, Schwarzenbach am Wald, and Ochsenkopf, as well as in Schöneck- Vogtland.
Lichtenberg in Bavaria is a picturesque community located in the heart of the Franconian Forest. The Franconian Forest is an idyllic low mountain landscape in north-eastern Bavaria and is characterised by its green forests, rolling hills and charming villages. To get to Lichtenberg im Frankenwald, Bavaria, there are several ways to travel, depending on your starting point and preferred means of transport:
By car:
If you are travelling by car, you can enter your destination into a navigation system or map app and follow the route accordingly. Lichtenberg is conveniently located on various federal roads (B173 and B289) and motorways (A9 and A93) and is therefore easily accessible by car.
By train:
The nearest train stations to Lichtenberg are Hof Hauptbahnhof and Naila Bahnhof. From there you can either take a taxi or use a regional bus to get to Lichtenberg. The bus connections are usually well developed and you can check the timetables on site.
By plane:
For international travellers, it is best to arrive by plane. The nearest airport is Nuremberg Airport (NUE), from where you can either hire a car or travel on by public transport. Alternatively, you can use Munich Airport (MUC), which is a little further away but offers a wider selection of international flights.
By long-distance bus:
Long-distance buses are an inexpensive way to travel to Bavaria. There are several long-distance bus companies that offer regular connections to Hof or Naila. From there, you can continue travelling by taxi or bus as described above.
It is advisable to check the current connections and timetables before your trip to ensure a smooth journey. Lichtenberg and the Franconian Forest are definitely worth a trip and you will be delighted by the picturesque landscape and charming villages.
