Our guesthouse on the Lanzenweg in Turnau, Hochschwab Alpine region, one of the most beautiful, natural regions of Styria was built in 2009. State-of-the-art ecological construction and facilities such as an air source heat pump and photovoltaic system ensure environmentally friendly operation.
The fireplace stoves are more for romantic purposes and are not necessary for heating.
The 2 house parts with 52 m² each are equally equipped, separately accessible and connected by the technical part, which can also be used as a storage room for sports equipment.
So to speak 2 houses under one roof. Large families like to book both houses.
The guest house is situated at the western end of the village on a road with little traffic and is about 500m from the village centre with supermarket, café, bakery, doctor and pharmacy. there are 5 inns in the vicinity for your physical well-being, if you don't always want to cook for yourself.
Not to forget the small fish farmers who breed brown trout, char, etc. in the crystal-clear mountain water and sometimes also deliver the order, and rural home shops with eggs, flour and other products. By the way, there are numerous mushrooms everywhere in the forests and an immense number of chanterelles, a little patience is sometimes needed in the search.
If you want to shop bigger, you only need to drive about 20 km to the nearby small towns of Kindberg, Kapfenberg or Bruck/Mur. Our provincial capital Graz (worth seeing!) is only about 80 km away and also very easy to reach by train.
The guest house is modern and over-complete for a holiday home, as our customers stay up to 6 weeks and more. We live here and enjoy the good air. In our high valley between Hochschwab and Mürztal there is no motorway, high voltage pylons or railway.
The right part of the house is barrier-free, at ground level; the left part is accessible via a short flight of stairs. From the anteroom with wardrobe you go into the living-sleeping room (large couch for 2 adults), small library, TV, CD-DVD player and of course WLAN, with well-equipped kitchen, into the bathroom (shower and tub), the separate WC, the spacious bedroom with double bed and large wardrobes and onto the glass-roofed sun terrace.
The front side faces south-east, with a view of the nearby wooded hiking mountains, the back side with the barbecue area and further seating looks north-west and towards the high mountains, such as the "Aflenzer Staritzen", over 2000m above sea level.
We still have 4 seasons here. In spring you can watch the awakening of nature, summer is characterised by many sunny days but cool nights. Autumn shows its splendour of colours in this exceedingly tree-rich area and yes, we still have winter with up to 70 cm of snow. 4 ski areas nearby, one right on our doorstep, so to speak, barely 3 minutes by car from the car park. Many hiking trails, most of them accessible all year round, are ideal for leisurely but also sporty hikers. Biking trails are also becoming more and more popular here, but you should be somewhat fit for the often demanding mountain bike trails.
There is a spacious playground for children in the village.
Not to forget the two bathing ponds within walking distance, which literally provide cooling in the hot summer.
Relaxation holidays in affordable luxury are possible here all year round.

Location and surroundings of object
Guesthouse is located in a climatically favoured zone south of the main Alpine ridge. We hardly know any severe thunderstorms or floods here, and there are no direct danger zones such as avalanches or floods. The winter sometimes causes us minor problems with snow clearance. Medical care is excellent with a Red Cross station and a medical centre, the nearest hospital is about 25km away. Mountain rescue and fire brigade protect and help us.

The basic rental price is per accommodation unit for 2 adults (from 15 years) for the additional possible persons there is a small surcharge of € 8,- per person and night. Please refer to the website for seasonal surcharges. The booking is considered final when the deposit has been transferred. Final payment by bank transfer on the day of departure at the latest. No cash payment, no credit cards (at present). An overnight tax of € 2.50 p.p./night is added to the rental price for persons over 15 years of age. We are happy to organise a large breakfast (brunch) with local products, which usually lasts for several days, at a price of € 24,- per person |

The climatic health resort of Aflenz is only 6 km away from Turnau. Turnau is considered a recreational village and may also be called a "residential and feel-good community".

About 13 years ago we moved from the big city of Vienna to my hometown of Turnau. After 40 years of working in tourism, we have fulfilled our dream of a guesthouse. We have "worked" with guests for a long time and want to continue this in the guesthouse. We have only had the best experiences with our guests.
