Forget your GPS, it won’t help you up here anyway. Your adventure begins in a completely traditional and analog way:
Pit stop at Denggnhof (Start: from 3:00 p.m.)
Before you finally leave civilization in the rearview mirror, stop at Denggnhof in Weißpriach. Here you pick up your “magical” key set. This is your ticket to freedom – and the official permission to bury your phone in your backpack!
The Barrier Challenge in Lantschfeld
Armed with the bunch of keys, it's off into the wilderness. But watch out, now teamwork is required:
Level 1: The first barrier awaits at the Diktlerhütte – this is where key no. 1 comes into play. 1 in use.
Level 2: Continue driving until you reach the Ulnhütte, then turn right. Here you need key no. 2 to open the next gate to happiness.
Level 3: After that, there are two more pasture gates. They may not have a lock, but they have an important rule:
⚠️ THE GOLDEN RULE:
All gates and barriers must be closed again immediately!
If you leave them open, you’re inviting our curious young cattle to a big alpine party – and we’ll spend the afternoon “searching for cows” instead of barbecuing. Final stretch
You roll down the windows, inhale the fresh air, and keep driving uphill. Keep your eyes to the right: our cabin is the only one on the right side.
Parking & “Cow Check”
You can park your car directly in front of the cabin. Engine off, door open – and suddenly: Civilization is just a distant rumor. From now on, the cows are in charge and your pulse drops to deep relaxation. The insider package for your alpine adventure 2026

Your analog guardian angel:
Be sure to pack a hiking map! In our impressive rocky realm between the Lungau and Styrian Kalkspitze, it’s better to rely on paper than on a battery. We do want you back at the hut for dinner!
When your stomach growls;
If your own stove is taking a break today – no problem! The Diktlerhütte, Granglerhütte, and Tonimörtlhütte are your culinary lifelines in the neighborhood. Here you’ll find genuine alpine cuisine without any frills, but with plenty of flavor.
The ultimate insider tip:
is the Oberhütte am See. It’s just a comfortable, almost meditative 20-minute walk from your doorstep. The perfect destination for anyone who needs a goal: Reward yourself there with a golden-yellow, fluffy Kaiserschmarren or a hearty Brettljause while you let your gaze wander over the sparkling mountain lake.
