Private parking space for car Netherlands, North Sea coast. Egmond is composed of 3 villages. Egmond Binnen lies inland and is surrounded by colorful tulip fields. The center of the village offers you various kinds of shopping, but historical aspects are also abundant. The Adelbertus Acker dates from the ninth century and here the Christianization of Europe began. The abbey was devastated in the 16th century and later rebuilt. It is still inhabited by monks of the Benedictine order. The Carmelite monastery, which is farther away, still has its original function. Also Egmond aan de Hoef has historical value. In the heart of the village are the castle ruins of the Count of Egmond, which was devastated in 1573. This little village, which adjoins Egmond aan Zee, is characterized by a small settlement around the castle chapel. Egmond aan Zee is the most famous place of the three Egmonden and has been developed as a fishing village, but since the beginning of this century it has become an important tourist destination. These aspects are still clearly visible in the street scene. As a landmark, the lighthouse of Jan van Speyk is unmistakably on the boulevard. There are numerous pavilions and opportunities for sailing and surfing on the wide beach. In the village you will find entertainment possibilities of every kind. Café terraces, restaurants, sports facilities and shops, in short, there is something for every taste. Where the development ceases, the nature reserve begins with 280 kilometer long, fortified cycling and hiking trails. Egmond is one of the most beautiful and cozy seaside resorts on the Dutch coast. In itself quite okay

Host unfortunately not as nice as stated. For the price, there are definitely better or more modern accommodations. Driver's license highly recommended. Many places more than 5 km away. We would have liked more information about the nature park. Just don't enter at night!

All in all, quite okay, but I definitely would not recommend it further.

Surroundings very beautiful.

I enjoyed my stay at 't Valkennest. I booked the cottage with Mr. Laroo 2 days in advance and let myself be surprised, as I didn't have much time to delve into it. I wanted a last-minute getaway to the sea due to the noise from motorcycle races in my own village. The cottage is hidden in the greenery, between the houses of the Laroo family. A special and narrow, bumpy road leading there; I liked it. Just walk across a path in the meadow and you are within a few minutes in the adjacent nature reserve. Nice easy communication with the landlord. And yes, there is indeed an approach route to Schiphol that regularly makes some noise, but there are also many quiet moments. I, with a very sensitive nervous system to light, sound, etc., have hardly been bothered by it. I find it a nice little house, spacious enough for me alone. For 2 people, I would find the bed and bench a bit narrow, but I also need a lot of personal space :)
Nice decor, all the necessities are available for me. And a good set of bicycles in the shed!
A beautiful starting point for the beaches of Egmond, Bergen, Castricum, and half an hour's drive to Camperduin, Hargen.
Recommended!

Fazit

The cottage is small and worn out. The furnishings are functional, not nice. The beach is a 1-hour walk away with an incline and a 10% descent. Peace is not found with 24-hour flights from Amsterdam Airport. NOT recommended.

Easter in Vaalkennest

Absolutely quaintly located...great right next to the nature reserve...the bikes were great...recommended to go through the dunes to Egmond and further to Bergen...dreamy landscape..we were lucky with the weather and were only outside..a small shortcoming...no German television..some hooks for towels are missing in the bathroom..maybe a larger couch..but all in all, a successful Easter...once you have found the accommodation (very hidden:-))

Vacation for people who want to switch off.

We (two young adults) moved into the Valkennest in anticipation of a very calm and relaxing vacation. That's exactly what we got. The small chalet is incredibly cute and cozy. It is fully equipped and has a separate bedroom with a 1.40m double bed, in addition to a toilet and shower. It was unusually small but still very nice and cozy. The kitchen has all necessary household appliances (coffee machine, kettle) and a 4-burner gas stove. There is no oven, but you don't really need one. The chalet has its own garden with a small terrace and a stone barbecue.

You are provided with 2 bicycles, which take about 15-20 minutes to get to the beach. The way there is very easy to find and manageable even for non-athletic people. The beach is beautiful and not very crowded. This may of course be due to the season, but we liked it. There is really a lot to discover. On our last day, we also found the wild bison.

We will definitely come back :)

Also recommended in late summer.

We felt very comfortable in the Falcon's Nest. Thanks to the good facilities (e.g., a very nice and hot shower and the small stove), we were able to find something positive even in occasional rain showers that caught us on our bike trips. The landlords were very friendly and accommodating.

Vicinity of the holiday home: Das Falkennest liegt direkt am Duenenreservat mit freilebenden Rinder- und Pferdeherden. Zum Strand ist es mit dem Fahrrad nicht weit und Egmond aan Zee ist mit dem Fahrrad in ca. 30 Minuten gut erreichbar.

free time activities: -Strandaktivitäten (Laufen, Scheimmen, Sonnen,...), -Fahrradfahren (Duenenreservat, Polder, ...)
-Besichtigung historischer Bauwerke Benediktinerabtei in Egmond Binnen, Schloßkapelle in Egmond aan de Hoef, Alkmaar mit dem Käsemarkt und der schönen Altstadt, Bergen aan Zee mit dem Aquarium, Egmond aan Zee...)

shopping facilities: In Egmond Binnen (mit dem Fahrrad 5-10 Minuten) gibt es einen sehr gut sortierten Supermarkt und einen kleinen Laden mit allem rund ums Haus. Einige Bauernhöfe in der Umgebung verkaufen Tulpenzwiebeln ab Hof, andere haben Stände mit Gemüse und Obst mit Selbstbedienung. Eis und andere Leckereien gibt es sehr gut in Egmond aan Zee.

It was nice..... It doesn't get much closer to nature.

My wife and I spent ten very nice days at 't Valkennest. This tastefully furnished mobile home lacks nothing. The hosts are pleasantly reserved. If you want, you can truly be alone. There is always something new to discover: whether it's the nearly 200 km of cycling and hiking trails through the immediately adjacent dune reserve to the beach, or the small and interesting towns of Egmond-Binnen, Egmond-Hoef or Egmond-Zee, or the artist colony, in the midst of which 't Valkennest is located. It never gets boring. The weather doesn't really matter. The small holiday chalet is usable all year round.

We will definitely come back.

Vicinity of the holiday home: Näher an der Natur geht nicht mehr und trotzdem ist man mit Rad oder Auto in 5 Minuten mitten im 'Treiben'.

free time activities: Wem es hier langweilig wird, der ist es selbst schuld.

shopping facilities: Nach Heilo, Egmond-Zee und Alkmar sind es 10 bis 15 Minuten mit dem Auto oder Rad. Neben den auch in Deutschland bekannten Supermärkten gibt es wirklich sehr sehr viele interessante und trotz Kurort preiswerte 'Winkeltjes'.

A good time!

My friend and I had a very nice week of vacation there! The cottage has everything you need. It is located in a very quiet area, away from traffic, and you are practically right in the dunes (Egmond Binnen Beach)! It is also quite cozy and personally furnished. The toilet and bathroom are good and modern. Egmond aan Zee/Bergen are only a few kilometers away by bike/car.

Summer vacation 2011

The accommodation is simple but very nice. Everything is lovingly furnished and very clean. Everything you need for a vacation is available.
