An East Frisian dream in May

Looking for a holiday home in East Frisia, we discovered the Haus am Tief. We wholeheartedly confirm all previous reviews from guests; the loving hospitality of Mrs. and Mr. Ekkenga enriches the entire ambiance, the apartment itself, the terrace, and the beautifully landscaped garden. Since the weather gods blessed us with glorious sunshine every day, we were able to reach many beautiful destinations in East Frisia by bike. And the enchanting view of the Knockster Tief offered us well-deserved relaxation from morning to evening. A highlight was also the personal insight into Mr. Ekkenga's bread baking art, the bread tastes excellent as do his corresponding wine recommendations! Pure relaxation in a wonderful atmosphere.

The holiday home of Grete and Martinus Ekkenga is perfectly suitable for a vacation. The equipment is of high quality and includes everything the heart desires. The wooden terrace overlooking the park-like garden provides ample space for relaxation with two loungers, a beach chair, and a dining table with chairs. The Ekkenga couple is available with advice and assistance, they provided us with homemade bread and handmade soap, and also arranged a highlight of our vacation: a ride through the surrounding canals with their own boat to the city center of Emden. The explanations and guidance from the Ekkenga couple were pleasant and very interesting, and the visit to the "best fish stand in the world" in the port of Emden was truly enjoyable.
Additionally, Lokkersum is a good starting point for various bike tours to explore the East Frisian landscape and soul; also, Europe's most crooked church tower is in close proximity.
In short: The accommodation and the landlords are 100% (and more!!!) recommendable.

Simply relax and unwind

The flat leaves nothing to be desired. We can fully underline all the positive reviews so far.
We wanted to switch off for a few days and relax from the hectic everyday life and the house is the ideal place for it.
It was by far the most lovingly furnished and cleanest holiday home we have stayed in in recent years. The accommodation has everything you need to spend a relaxing time. Everything is clean and stylishly furnished. The furnishings are far above the usual average!!!

Wunderschöner Urlaub

In September, we were two guests for a week in the holiday apartment Haus am Tief. The location is ideal for trips in the area, whether by car or bicycle. The apartment is decorated with attention to detail, and we immediately felt comfortable. The very nice and unobtrusive landlords also contributed to this, helping with tips to explore the surroundings. Additionally, we were spoiled with self-baked bread of various varieties. There is a nicely furnished seating area by the water that makes every angler's heart beat faster. In short, we can only say that all the positive reviews are true, and we will certainly come back.

Highly recommendable holiday apartment with high recreational value

In June 2021, we spent very relaxing days at Haus am Tief. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by our hosts. The beautiful, well-maintained house is equipped with everything a holiday guest could wish for. The furnishings are high quality and the rooms are tastefully decorated. The very comfortable mattresses made for good and restful sleep in the quiet residential street. There is a large terrace with a magnificent view of the garden, inviting for breakfast and equipped with sun loungers and a large, comfortable beach chair. Truly relaxing!
We were particularly impressed by the large, lovingly designed garden, resembling a park - and this is by no means an exaggeration! Under the large trees, there are various small, shady spots with seating for lingering and relaxing. In the canal that borders the garden, we enjoyed cooling off on hot days. For those who wish, you can explore the surroundings with the motorboat, which is also part of the equipment. Or use the available bicycles to enjoy the landscape on well-developed and signposted paths and discover the diverse nature. We were spoiled by our hosts with homemade bread (the toast bread is legendary) and rolls, as well as jam, wine selection (we particularly enjoyed the rosé from the David Spies winery), and a large collection of information material and books about the area. Other highlights included a boat trip to Emden with Mr. Ekkenga as a knowledgeable tour guide, as well as an evening picnic at sunset on a nearby lake with our warm hosts. It felt like a vacation with friends, so we will happily come back again.

Tolles Ferienhaus

Our holiday got off to a great start with a warm welcome from the Ekkenga couple. The apartment was clean and equipped with everything as described. The fantastic view of the park-like garden and the time spent by the canal was a delight. The private sauna was also welcome. On the large terrace, you could relax and unwind. During our pleasant conversations, we received many good tips for our activities. A big surprise was also the delicious freshly baked bread from our host. Since Mr. Ekkenga gave me a crash course in bread baking, I successfully baked a wonderful rye bread at home. We had a very nice stay in your great holiday home and say thank you very, very much. Repeat offender East Frisia

We have been on vacation in East Frisia several times. Each time in a holiday home by the water, as my husband is a passionate angler.

Many things fit together here: the friendliness of the Ekkenga family, the location of Loppersum, the fish stock in the Knockster Tief, the sauna in the apartment for a bit of wellness in between, and the dreamlike, almost park-like garden.

Everything was so good on this vacation that we have already booked for next year. We are looking forward to it and send warm regards.

Relaxing holiday.

We were welcomed by two very warm hosts who were always there to help us, two adults and two children (10 and 14 years old), throughout our entire vacation. Whether it was a question about the nearest bakery, a worthwhile excursion destination, or a restaurant in one of the neighboring villages, there was always a recommendation that turned out to be a perfect fit. The direct access from the beautiful garden to the water and the included boat with an electric motor especially appealed to our 10-year-old, he felt like he was fishing all the time, and successfully so. The 14-year-old was very satisfied with the stable Wi-Fi to stay in touch with her friends. The provided bicycles were in good condition and offered the opportunity to bike to the bakery in the morning and to take a bike tour on the well-developed bike paths in the area. The house is very tastefully furnished, we lacked nothing. We also greatly enjoyed the existing sauna. All in all, a wonderful, relaxing vacation. We would like to once again send a heartfelt thank you to our hosts who provided us with such a beautiful, relaxing time. We will gladly come back.

Oh, and last but not least, a small tip from us: A visit to the Mill Café on the weekend is definitely worth it, the cake there is super delicious!!!

Top Ferienhaus

We spent a few days in Loppersum as a group of three. The holiday home is really well furnished and equipped, and the location is excellent (if you like it idyllic).
As anglers, we really appreciated the direct waterfront location, even though we weren't quite as successful from the property itself. Boat trips (suitable for 2 anglers) also proved successful.
We will come back!!!

Entdeckung Ostfriesland

We had a wonderful time in Loppersum. Mrs. and Mr. Ekkenga are hosts as one could wish for. Unobtrusive, friendly, helpful, and interesting conversationalists if desired. The boat tour was especially beautiful. Loppersum is a good starting point for explorations, whether to the islands or to Holland. In the beautiful garden, one can relax and unwind. We found the amenities of a washing machine and dryer to be excellent, you can drive home with clean laundry. This property is not suitable for a pure beach holiday. We are glad to have found this gem.

Gardens/Hosts

Beautiful, well-maintained garden that invites you to linger. Actually, all you need here is to ride the electric boat through the canals or retreat with a good book and a cup of tea to the many seating areas in the garden. Very pleasant, unobtrusive hosts with whom you can have nice conversations. Very clean and lovingly decorated rooms. We will come back!!!

Recommended for anglers.

I spent 3 days at the "Haus am Tief" with my best friend. I am writing here as an angler and can only recommend the house. Directly from the terrace, you can walk through the very well-kept and beautiful garden to the Tief. Down by the water, there is a small tiled seating area. However, we sat with our fishing rods on the grass right by the water. Our catch was many bream (up to 2kg) and 3 eels. Grilling with charcoal is no problem. Swimming is also possible. We were both in. In the middle, it is about 2 meters deep.

The holiday home itself was very well maintained and modernly equipped. Everything was available.

The landlords were very nice. One felt immediately comfortable there. We would come back immediately.

East Frisian coziness

We spent a short but beautiful time at the 'Haus am Tief'. Upon entering the house, we felt a cozy sense of comfort. A modern kitchen with complete equipment, a comfortable bathroom with washing machine, dryer, and underfloor heating (!), cozy bedrooms with good furnishings, and finally the living/dining room with a fantastic view of a beautiful, lovingly landscaped garden where you can linger at various seating areas. A large terrace made of Bangkirai wood planks can be accessed from the bedroom and living room, inviting you to relax or simply enjoy a cup of tea. Guests can even use the apartment's sauna. After each day trip, we looked forward to returning to this beautiful house and enjoyed our time there. The warm hospitality of the hosts was so comforting that it was clear to us: we will definitely come back and bring more time with us next time! Thank you for the wonderful time!

House at Tief, Loppersum

We really enjoyed our short Easter break in 2019 at the "Haus am Tief." The landlords are very attentive and gave us very good excursion recommendations when asked. The house is very well equipped, and the garden is amazingly beautiful. The cherry on top was the rowboat with an electric motor that we used several times to explore the canal network. Relaxing days in a dreamily beautiful setting.

...we had a great time! The weather was good, so we were out and about a lot. We gladly returned to the beautiful holiday apartment each evening, where we felt very welcome. The accommodation lives up to its description. The equipment is high quality, nothing is missing, and the renting couple, Ekkenga, who live in the same house next door, are warm and welcoming. Communication with both was smooth and uncomplicated. It is evident on the dream property that both work passionately in the garden. beautiful holiday flat and dreamlike garden

We arrived and immediately felt at home in the holiday flat, which was furnished with great attention to detail. The Ekkenga family has succeeded in combining modern and high-quality furnishings (kitchen, bathroom, sauna) with a lot of cosiness and East Frisian tradition (e.g. beautiful pictures of the owner, tea set with East Frisian rose). The terrace and the large garden with many secluded spots and situated directly on the canal, invite you to stay and relax in good weather. The landlords are very nice and we not only received many good tips for excursions, but were also spontaneously served freshly baked waffles by the landlord while we were drinking East Frisian tea from the above-mentioned service on the terrace. With the bicycles, which we could borrow free of charge, we made very beautiful tours into the surrounding area (e.g. Three Seas Trail). It was a wonderful holiday and we will definitely come back soon.

House for deep relaxation

Beautifully and lovingly furnished house, with very nice, helpful and friendly hosts. The huge garden with the canal at the end is of course a big plus for the already immaculate holiday home. It's a great place to relax and recharge your batteries. You can usually get to the towns and highlights of the surrounding area quite quickly by car or, even more relaxed, by taking the house's own boat for a meal or shopping.
As a family with two little boys, this was the perfect holiday and the children are still raving about it. We would love to come back again. :-)

Perfect rest

Our holiday is now three weeks behind us, but despite the daily hustle and bustle setting in again, a few thoughts of the wonderful time are enough to feel the recreational value again.

The holiday flat, furnished with great attention to detail, radiates a lot of warmth with a high cuddle factor, while the functionality in the kitchen, bathroom and sauna is just as perfect

The huge garden plot with its tall trees invites you with its many possibilities to stay and look for a suitable shady spot even in this "hot" summer, starting from the breakfast terrace with beach chair and sauna loungers, over the bridge place at the pond to the shore seat at the low, which forms the natural property boundary. Guest bicycles and a guest boat with an electric motor provide opportunities for your own adventures of exploration in the surrounding area, e.g. to the "Grosse Meer" for swimming.

The landlords live in the other part of the house; so we had good conversations with many tips for our stay; questions could be answered quickly and comprehensively. Bread roll service is possible; the tea soap from our own production is pure pleasure.
Our daughter, who is studying in Emden, visited us, and our landlord offered to take us and his boat on a longer tour. So we headed for Emden from the low, docked briefly at the Kunsthalle and were able to drop our daughter off there. We glided back just as calmly and tranquilly, a wonderful adventure from an unusual perspective.
All in all, the comprehensive, loving care deserves the highest praise

With the car, shopping is quickly done and worthwhile sights or activities in the near and far surroundings are easily accessible in a day trip. To name but a few:
A visit to the cheese production in Pilsum, the seal station, Papenburg, Leer, adventure golf etc..

it's worth it ...

The house at the "Tief" is a very nicely designed and lovingly furnished holiday apartment. The view into the distance over the large, very well-kept property with a pond is pure relaxation. The property is located on a canal. Two boats offer the opportunity to explore the area in this way as well.

Wellness vacation

We had a relaxing week in the lovingly furnished holiday apartment of the Ekkenga family. The apartment is well-equipped and offers everything to feel comfortable. We enjoyed having the sauna in the house in the evenings. We also took a short boat trip on the canal with the boat belonging to the apartment. The Ekkenga family is very friendly and helpful. Thanks again for the tip with the wild garlic pesto 😊. It was heavenly delicious. From the apartment, many excursions can be made in the surrounding area. Whether by bike, car, boat, or on foot. . . . there should be something for everyone.

A great vacation apartment to feel comfortable.

My husband, my almost 3-year-old son, and I felt very comfortable during our stay in the vacation apartment. The apartment is very well equipped, the kitchen is well stocked (plenty of pots, pans, etc.). The sauna allowed us to have some relaxing evenings after tiring tours. A crib and high chair were offered to us before our arrival. The landlords are very friendly and helpful - we would rent the vacation apartment again at any time, highly recommended!

Relaxation and pure peace in a great atmosphere

We were looking for a high-quality apartment for 4 adults over the New Year period and found it at the "Haus am Tief" with the Ekkenga family. The 19th-century house has been extensively renovated and lovingly furnished. Therefore, the recent 4-star rating from the German Tourism Association is well-deserved. Special highlights include the private sauna, private terrace with a beach chair, and a large garden with water access. Empfehlenswert

We spent a few wonderful days fishing in Loppersum. The catches were great, even though we didn't really know our way around. The Ekkenga couple is super nice, always helpful, and very concerned about the guests' well-being. The holiday apartment is very functional and totally cozy.

We spent a very relaxing week there, perfect for cycling and enjoying the culture in Emden. The landlords are extremely charming and courteous. You receive every information about Ostfriesland as Mr. Ekkenga is a well-known and excellent photographer. He and his wife know this landscape like the back of their hand.

Very nice holiday flat, beautiful location, very nice landlords

We were in Loppersum at the end of July with two children (11 and 7 years old) and were lucky to secure a free week in this wonderful holiday apartment relatively last minute. The location is truly fantastic, the garden is very lovingly and generously designed, the holiday apartment is spacious, nicely furnished, and extensively equipped. The landlords were the small highlight of the vacation: very helpful, very friendly, and incredibly patient despite our two extremely lively little ones (and the associated noise level) and never annoyed. Mr. Ekkenga offered us, right upon our arrival, to combine the necessary shopping for the weekend with a boat tour through the Knockster Tief. So we were able to get a picture of the wonderful landscape around Loppersum in the beautiful weather and at the same time stock up on the essentials at the supermarket in the neighboring village.

The area is ideal for extensive bike tours and short trips to the surrounding cities, such as Emden, Norddeich, Greetsiel, or even a day trip to Norderney.
There is also a large lake ("Großes Meer") nearby, which is fantastic for smaller children due to its shallow water depth. If the weather doesn't cooperate, the holiday apartment has a very nice sauna which we also enjoyed on a rainy day.

We would like to thank the Ekkenga family once again for the wonderful stay, and we would love to come back.

Traumhaft schön

A dreamily beautiful and relaxing vacation. The Ekkenga family takes care of the guests with a lot of heart and understanding. The garden is dreamy, and the spacious holiday apartment leaves nothing to be desired. The apartment is the ideal starting point for smaller and larger bike tours around the Great Sea, to Greetsiel, Ditzum, or just a shopping trip to Emden or Aurich. The highlight, however, was the boat trip with Mr. Ekkenga through the canals with a visit to the revolving lock. Thank you very much and we will gladly come back.

Traumhaftes Grundstück

We stayed in Loppersum for five nights in July. The holiday apartment was very clean, tastefully decorated, bright, friendly, and equipped with everything a holidaymaker desires. The property was (and probably still is ;-) amazing. Beautifully designed with, among other things, a lovely sitting area right by the canal. Enjoying the tranquility with a glass of wine was wonderful. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall, a great vacation rental and highly recommendable! Greetings to Loppersum.

Wunderschöner Urlaub im Haus am Tief

On the recommendation of friends, we traveled to Loppersum to the Haus am Tief. When we arrived, we were greeted by a beautiful vacation rental, lovingly and affectionately decorated by the hosts. Beautiful artworks by the photographer Mr. Ekkenga adorn the entire apartment. The amenities (including a sauna) fully deserve the 4 stars. The house is very quiet, allowing for wonderful relaxation. The fantastic garden extends directly from the large terrace. We were fortunate to see the roses in full bloom. Every meter of the way down to the boat dock offers new motifs to discover. We would like to thank Mrs. and Mr. Ekkenga for their warm and caring hospitality during our vacation. Thank you for the bread service, the wonderful boat trip, the instruction in East Frisian tea-drinking, and much more. We can definitely recommend the house.

Feriendomizil - Erlebnis

Couple Ekkenga has created a small paradise in Loppersum with the holiday apartment. The garden is extremely well-maintained - the roses are a dream. Very good fishing opportunities, unfortunately mostly breams bit.
As a wheelchair user, I got along well in the apartment.
The kitchen is very well stocked, as I enjoy cooking it was a lot of fun - nothing was missing.
The apartment is very clean and tastefully furnished - we felt at home. Couple Ekkenga rightfully received 4 stars. Pleasant, friendly, and helpful hosts. We have stayed in numerous vacation rentals in Germany and abroad, and have never felt as comfortable as at Ekkenga's. Thank you. We can wholeheartedly recommend this apartment!

Great vacation in a very beautiful holiday apartment

We, as a family of 3, were guests at the Ekkenga family over Easter.
It was fantastic, the weather was great and everything was overall good.
The holiday apartment is cozy and furnished with a lot of attention to detail.
The landlords are very friendly and always helpful and courteous.
The evenings in the in-house sauna with a good glass of wine rounded off the stay. If you are not looking for a direct seaside location, you are in good hands here in a small quaint village Loppersum.

House at the Deep Creek.

In September, we were guests at the Ekkenga family's place, enjoying great weather. The holiday apartment is tastefully decorated and very well-equipped. It was great again!

After a short vacation in November 2015, this year we spent our summer holiday in the Ekkenga family's vacation rental. The apartment is cozy even in summer, the garden is well-tended, and the "fishing corner" invites night fishing. Beautiful holiday in a quiet location

The house is very nicely furnished and the huge garden is simply a dream. We have laid in the garden several times with our daughter on a blanket and just enjoyed the peace and been able to relax. The house lacked nothing, our 9-month-old daughter was even taken care of (from the changing table to the travel cot to the baby bathtub). The kitchen is also very well equipped and leaves nothing to be desired. Mr. and Mrs. Ekkenga were always helpful and very friendly. The house is located in a very quiet area, but you can still reach numerous excursion destinations from there in a short time. Conclusion for us: The house is highly recommended and we will definitely not have been there for the last time.

House by the canal delivers what it promises

We spent a relaxing week at the house by the Tief. We really liked the house and the furnishings. Everything is lovingly decorated and nothing is missing. The large and well-kept garden is a delight to the eyes. The offered boat trip with our landlords through the canals of the Tief was an interesting and beautiful experience. Quiet and pleasant living during the vacation

the scent of roses that came into the apartment in the morning when airing it out is simply beautiful;
the combination of renovated "old" elements (e.g. room doors with door handles) and new items (e.g. magnifying mirror in the bathroom) is well chosen;
since the weather was not so consistent, it would have been great if a second sofa or a cozy armchair had been available.

Nostalgic holiday apartment with a lovingly landscaped perennial garden

We have now stayed for the second time with our little daughter at the Ekkenga family's house, and we enjoyed it very much again. The vacation rental is beautifully and elaborately furnished with many details and wonderful landscape photographs by the host. The equipment, from the cheese knife to the East Frisian sugar cones for tea, leaves nothing to be desired. With the boat, we could row directly from the garden through the canals, and our daughter could play in the garden. The Ekkenga family is very kind and helpful. We will gladly come back!

Can't get any more beautiful!

I was absolutely fascinated by the house. I heard and saw hundreds of wild geese in the immediate vicinity. The park was very idyllic despite sleet, and the first winter bloomers fought their way through the ground in white and yellow. Using the sauna in the holiday apartment in the wet and cold weather was incredibly beautiful and relaxing. The hosts try to make your stay as pleasant as possible in every situation, exceeding my expectations for a short break from the start.

Birthday vacation

On the recommendation of our daughter, who stayed with the Ekkenga family in October, we took the opportunity of a birthday to spend a few days at Haus am Tief. Quiet paradise

Great apartment, tastefully restored old house with a wonderful garden that ends directly at the canal. An invitation to all who want to escape everyday life. In sunny weather, the terrace with a view of the garden invites you to relax, and if the Frisian summer takes a break, we highly recommend the sauna in the apartment.
Boat available for a fishing trip. (also, even though my men didn't have much luck fishing ;o)

Conveniently located for trips to the North Sea, Bremerhaven is also easily accessible. (Climate House and Emigration Center)

Tip: Mini-golf in Wiesmoor

By bike, you can easily reach Emden and the Great Sea, which is especially suitable for children as the water is very shallow. Surfers also have plenty of opportunities there. (Surf school)

In the area, you will find many paddle and pedal stations where you can explore the canals of East Frisia and take a bike tour.

This very stylishly furnished house caught our attention on the internet and exceeded our expectations. The very courteous landlords manage to enable guests to have a pleasant and relaxing holiday. Family vacation in great holiday apartment

We decided last minute to go on an Easter holiday and were very excited about the holiday apartment we found on the internet immediately because of the great photos.
We were not disappointed. When we arrived in Loppersum, we found a spacious, bright, and very tastefully furnished apartment. The terrace was fantastic as well. We enjoyed a first coffee in a beach chair with freshly baked scones made by the landlord. Here we had a great view of the lovingly maintained garden and the pond, which is inhabited by the two house ducks Napoleon and Josephine. The area invites you to go on outings. We can recommend visiting the tea museum in Norden and of course the seal rehabilitation center in Norddeich. But the bread roll service, which we enjoyed every morning, was also great. We felt very comfortable during the days we spent at the house by the Tief and can highly recommend both the holiday apartment and the surroundings for a great family vacation. It was a short but unforgettable holiday!

Einfach traumhaft

The apartment is perfectly furnished. Decorated with style and love, it offers an atmosphere in which one feels very comfortable. The two bedrooms are spacious and functional. The living room with a sofa group and dining table also provides a cozy place on rainy days. Television and radio are a matter of course. The view of the large, park-like garden is beautiful. The adjacent Knockster Tief offers the opportunity for swimming and fishing. You can also take a boat trip. The kitchen is fully equipped. It is very rare to find a kitchen at this level, congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Ekkenga. Cleanliness is a top priority and is taken for granted, everything is spotless. We stayed here for six weeks and were able to explore the entire region. There is really a lot of interesting things to discover. The tourism information offices are knowledgeable and well equipped with materials. The landlords, Mr. and Mrs. Ekkenga, live in the same house and are happy to answer questions. We naturally received the best tips from them. You can also take a boat trip with your own boat by arrangement. We liked it very much, we will definitely come back.

The Paradise,,,

We were in this beautiful vacation home in August with our two boys and got to know a piece of paradise. The holiday home and the surrounding area leave nothing to be desired. Unfortunately, we had bad luck with the weather, but the surroundings and the available activities made the holiday very relaxing. We stayed in this wonderful vacation apartment for 1 week and left with heavy hearts. The apartment is excellently furnished, truly lacking nothing. A fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and oven is part of the apartment, as well as a sauna for colder days. The highlight is a great garden that ends directly at the canal. Sitting by the canal, watching the boats or even fishing, is a vacation that couldn't be better. Also great: the landlords deliver fresh bread rolls every morning. What more could you want? One thing is clear, although this was the first holiday here, there will definitely be more to follow.

Very lovingly furnished holiday home in a central location. Quickly in the cities of Aurich, Emden, Norden as well as in Norddeich and at the sluices. The garden exudes its own charm in October. The cozy rooms invite you to linger and relax. This makes a day with bad weather also a delightful holiday day. A dream for everyone

Not only the extraordinarily wonderful hospitality of the Ekkenga couple, but also the holiday home and the beautifully landscaped garden warmly invite you to a wonderful holiday. We felt incredibly comfortable during the week we rented the holiday home. The house and garden have been built with great attention to detail. Due to the fact that Emden is only a 5-minute drive from Loppersum, there is a large shopping opportunity "directly" in front of the house. Not only for cyclists, this area is simply fantastic, anglers will also not be disappointed with direct access to the Knockster Tief from the house garden. In one week, we caught 3 carp (see pictures), several bream, and pike-perch. On bad weather days (thankfully only one day), we took advantage of the very spacious sauna. We are already looking forward to another stay in this beautiful holiday home. Furthermore, we wish the Ekkenga couple all the best and thank them for everything.

House at Tief, Loppersum

We spent our nine-day, very relaxing vacation in East Frisia (end of June/beginning of July) in the spacious, well-equipped holiday apartment "Am Tief" in Loppersum. From here, we embarked on interesting day trips. At the beginning of our stay, we received great tips for activities and restaurant visits from our very friendly landlords, Ekkenga. This support was very helpful, as the variety of events announced in the information sheets were initially very confusing for us. Highly recommended for a visit are the Moormuseum in Moordorf (buckwheat cake and buckwheat pancakes) and the Dörpmuseum with action day on the last Saturday of the month. We took advantage of Emden's proximity for city exploration and a visit to the Kunsthalle. Evening summer concerts (Gezeitenkonzerte / Nachtorgel in Dornum, among others) were also enjoyable. The days at (location) were a delight and enriched our daily activities. We especially appreciated the caring contact with the Ekkengas. We are particularly thankful for the bread service in the morning, the casual chats sometimes with, sometimes without a glass of wine in the beautiful garden or on the terrace. We also thank you for the boat trip on the canal, which we started directly from the house garden. The entire living situation in the lovingly and very attractively furnished holiday apartment with a large garden (rose bloom in June!) at the house provided a very relaxing setting for our vacation. Star rides in Emden Land

My cycling friend and I booked a holiday apartment with 2 bedrooms for the first time, as we wanted to do day trips.
The reception and all contact beforehand were very warm and accommodating. The Ekkenga couple has a nice sense of humor, and we were absolutely satisfied with our accommodation. The area is wonderful for cycling with many lakes and canals, short and long routes. Greetsiel can be reached by bike in about 20 km, Emden-Petkum in about 12 km, so these are not long distances. And when you come back to a cozy and warm apartment after work in the evening, it's pure relaxation. Because the apartment is located outside, it offers pure tranquility. The garden invites you to idyllic evenings in warm weather, and in general, it leaves nothing to be desired for the heart. The baker with super fresh rolls and delicious bread can be reached by bike in 2.5 km, by car in just over 3 minutes.
We felt very comfortable and thank the couple for their super hospitable welcome.
We would love to come back when we find ourselves in the North, as we haven't seen everything yet.

Wonderful! .. in more than one way!

The warmth felt already during booking was not diminished by the personal and warm welcome of the landlords. We felt right at home here.

Both the apartment and the garden are a dream for relaxing and unwinding. The kitchen, bathroom, and sauna are well-equipped, and the living room and bedroom leave nothing to be desired.

The view from the terrace into the garden invites dreaming and lingering, truly creating distance from daily stress. The ride on the house-owned motorboat on the canal was a small highlight, not only for the children.

Highly recommended!

We wanted to welcome spring in Friesland in March, with sun and colorful nature. What we found was an icy, snow-covered landscape and bitterly cold wind. But this beautiful, cozy, and comfortable apartment made up for everything. Mr. and Mrs. Ekkenga welcomed us with spring flowers, wine, and fresh bread rolls the next morning, and the view from the terrace into the garden all the way to the fjord hinted at the splendor of summer blooms. Our short vacation was crowned by the departure of the Norwegian Breakaway from the shipyard in Papenburg to Emden under fresh temperatures but blue skies.

We have already booked again for this coming August!!!

...a lovely holiday season

One week family vacation in East Frisia was our wish, what we received was three in unrelenting coziness a time of relaxation and well-being. Of course, the bright, friendly, and lovely holiday apartment contributed to this, which quickly became "home", but the icing on the cake was the magnificent garden. In autumnal sun, we were able to spend a lot of time on the terrace, the English roses provided color and scent. free time activities: Die Stadt Emden hat einiges zu bieten u.a. die Kunsthalle mit Museumsshop und Henrys Cafe´. Wir haben mit unserem kleinen Motorboot eine sehr schöne Kanalfahrt durch Emden gemacht, auch aus dieser Perspektive sehr reizvoll. Wer den rauhen Nordseewind möchte, kommt schnell zu den Sielen. In Greetsiel ist ein Freizeitbad, in dem man sich den ganzen Tag aufhalten kann. Auch das "Große Meer" ist zu empfehlen, läd auf jeden Fall zu einer Radtour ein.

Although we were only there for three days, we felt very comfortable from the first minute. The apartment is tastefully and functionally furnished, the bathroom with underfloor heating and the sauna contributed to us enjoying our short time here very much. The landlord couple was very friendly and very eager to ensure that the guests lacked nothing. Along the way, a big "thank you" for the delicious East Frisian tea and bread roll service. Familienurlaub

Despite the bad weather in the first week of January, we felt very comfortable in this vacation rental. Everything has been renovated and rebuilt with great care. The old architectural style has been preserved. The bedrooms (especially the captain's room - large doors to the terrace and garden) are lovingly furnished. The bathroom is a highlight (you won't want to leave the shower). On rainy and stormy days, the sauna invites you to relax. The kitchen is equipped with everything necessary. We were here as a family: male 46, female 45, male 16, female 14.

Relax and feel good

Apartment designed with great attention to detail, fulfilling both functional and relaxing needs. The rooms are tastefully furnished. After a stormy walk along the dike, the bathroom with underfloor heating makes you forget the cold weather. The integrated sauna is a hit. The absolute quiet location and the bread delivery service on request round off the picture very nicely.

The Moselle meets the Weser

"...no pleasure is temporary, because the impression it leaves is lasting." (J.W. Goethe) And we truly enjoyed our stay in the spacious and lovingly furnished house by the Tief. Cozy, comfortable, and quiet with a view of a park-like garden. It was only regrettable that we couldn't stay longer.

Relaxing autumn days in Hinte-Loppersum

Despite the bad weather, my wife and I spent a few very relaxing days in October 11 in a beautifully renovated semi-detached house. The landlords were very friendly and accommodating. Each morning fresh bread rolls were brought to us, and as a welcome gesture, a bottle of Riesling with Riedel glasses was on the table. The landlady has a knack for decoration and interior design, which is evident in both the apartment and the garden. Also worth seeing are the pieces hanging on the walls. The host is a landscape photographer well-known beyond the borders of East Frisia with regional exhibitions. All in all, a package that we did not expect in Hinte-Loppersum. What is offered here is usually sought in vain in this price range. We will gladly go there again.

Ein wunderbares Wochenende

In the "Haus am Tief," things are stacked deep in the East Frisian way, even more beautifully than described. The sauna is integrated into the house, allowing you to end the day wonderfully and completely undisturbed. The very beautiful black and white landscape photographs by the homeowner make every wall in the house an eye-catcher, and the other pictures by artists from the region are a joy. The arranged tea set is very inviting, and the tea provided is very delicious. The apartment is equipped with all comforts, not to mention the nice details like candles, matching decorations (hairdryer), and the view of the garden, which is a delight at any time. The beach chair on the spacious terrace invites you to linger, and we were very pleased with the homemade soap. A small tip for wine drinkers: have the fridge stocked with nicely chilled wine (wine list in the house), it's possible and fun to arrive to. Thank you to our hosts, we will recommend you and come back.

East Frisia at its most beautiful

Even though the time was actually way too short - thanks to the wonderful holiday home of the Ekkenga family, the time in Loppersum was simply fantastic! I will not forget this vacation with my 3 daughters anytime soon. So tastefully and lovingly furnished, so cozy, so clean and nice-smelling (non-smoking) - everything was perfect. The beautiful terrace allows a view of a garden area of the finest quality! The most beautiful garden in Loppersum... , which is bordered at the end by one of the navigable canals. A rowboat is available. Just beautiful.

Charming vacation apartment with probably the most beautiful garden in Loppersum.

At the beginning of September 2011, the four of us spent a long weekend at the holiday apartment "Haus am Tief". We felt very comfortable here and can highly recommend the apartment to anyone interested! The special highlights for us were, among other things:

- the particularly warm and personal care by the landlord couple, who live in the neighboring house

- the very quiet location right next to the house

- the beautifully freshly restored building (old farmstead)

- the well-equipped kitchen with high-quality crockery, authentic Frisian tea sets, and Fissler pots

- the brand new stylish and very clean bathroom

- the very large and especially nicely furnished bedroom "Captain's Room" with a view of the garden

- very spacious wooden terrace with a beach chair (!) ! ! ), terrace furniture, and 2 sun loungers.

- soon there will be a sauna in the house!

However, the most beautiful garden in Hinte-Loppersum is worth mentioning, stretching in gentle hills with old trees down to the small canal with its own mooring. In the middle of the garden, there is a small lake. It should be noted that the garden is specifically for small children to use only under supervision, as it cannot be secured. From Loppersum, you can reach numerous attractions of the coastal area in a short drive. A mudflat walk, a boat trip, or even a carriage ride with real Friesian horses are highly recommended! The landlords provided us with wonderful tips and provided us with very informative information. We will be back very soon!

Beautiful short vacation in Loppersum

The very tastefully furnished holiday apartment with a beautiful garden is located directly on the East Frisian canal system (Knockster Tief). Day trips can be booked by arrangement with the landlord (should not be missed). The landlords are very nice, open, and warm people who have offered our children and us a lot (red rowing boat, campfire, barbecue facilities, fresh bread rolls every morning). Unfortunately, we could only book a short vacation spontaneously but we would like to come back for a longer stay in the future. This vacation rental is highly recommended if you want to relax and unwind. We are looking forward to seeing you again and, of course, the sauna!

Our vacation in 2011 in the Ekkenga family's holiday home in Loppersum

A holiday apartment tastefully furnished with great attention to detail where we felt very comfortable with our 8-year-old grandchild. The hosts, Mrs. and Mr. Ekkenga, are very attentive to their guests, and you feel at home from the very beginning. The beautifully landscaped garden with access to its own jetty is a paradise, especially for anglers and water sports enthusiasts. This house is not only suitable for families with children but is also ideal for a romantic holiday for two. The bathing lake "Das grosse Meer" can be reached in just a few minutes by car (surfing and sailing possible). The house itself is located in a quiet street in the "Old Village" with typical small Frisian houses and exudes a lot of coziness. We will definitely come back!!!

Perfect relaxation in East Frisia

A wonderful property with a very well-maintained plot. Very English...! The apartment is fantastically renovated with great attention to detail. New bathroom (very nice!), new small modern fitted kitchen with dishwasher, stove, oven, dishwasher. New windows. Very nice furniture and art on the wall (photographs). Very good connections to Emden (art gallery/port, etc.), Norden, Leer... Landlords speak French, English, German and East Frisian Platt.
