Description
Our holiday home Wasserfloh is located at the end of a branch canal with a wonderful view of the Timmeler Meer.
The house (approx. 85 sqm) has three bedrooms; one single bedroom on the ground floor and two larger bedrooms on the 1st floor. One with a double bed and cot and one with 2 single beds. There is also an extra toilet on this floor.
Downstairs is the cosy living area with TV, music system, DVD player and open passage to the kitchen, with sitting area (also baby chair). It is fully equipped with cooker (ceramic hob), refrigerator, separate icebox and microwave, toaster, kettle and much more.
On the ground floor, next to the single bedroom, which allows e.g. disabled guests to stay in the house without using the stairs, there is our bathroom with shower and washing machine.
The outdoor area with terrace, garden furniture, outdoor barbecue, private jetty and summer house offers a direct view of the water and frequent visits from ducks and rabbits. In the garden house you will find various accessories, also for the children. Our own red rowing boat can be used free of charge.
You could row from our jetty to the North Sea (if you are extremely fit). But of course you can also rent a motor on site.
From the Timmeler Meer, you can explore the numerous canals or just sit on our jetty, fish or read and enjoy yourself.
In Timmel you will also find a supermarket with bakery (open 7 days), doctors, restaurants and an ATM.
The large sandy beach is a 5-minute walk away
Our house and Timmel itself offer various leisure activities:
- With our rowing boat you can explore the 25ha bathing and boating lake and the East Frisian canals
- Suggestions for beautiful bike tours and hikes can be found in our information folder in the living room
- There we also collect information about excursions to the islands, to nice tea rooms, museums and mills and to the bigger cities like Emden, Aurich, Leer, Norden/Norddeich...
- The sandy beach offers different water depths also for our little guests, as well as a constantly extended play and digging area, bathing platform in the water and beach café. In the meantime there is a separate dog beach
- At the campsite you can play mini-golf or rent go-karts
- At the harbour you can rent various boats or book trips with the boat Gretje
- The Timmeler Meer is very popular with anglers.
- In Timmel you will also find an equestrian centre that is well known beyond the East Frisian borders and in whose hall riding events take place time and again.
- There is also a lot to discover on foot or by bike.

How to find us: Approach from the south via the A 31 (or via the A 28 / A27 / A7 from Oldenburg to the Leer motorway junction). Take the A 31 (towards Emden) and continue to the Neermoor exit. Leave the motorway at the exit "Neermoor/Timmel" and take the country road L14 towards Timmel (Aurich). After approx. 7 km you will reach Timmel.
On the day of arrival, the house is available to our guests from approx. 15:00. On the day of departure, the house must be vacated by 10:00 a.m. so that it can be prepared for the following guests. In individual cases - depending on the availability of the house - different arrangements can be made.
Timmel is located in the heart of East Frisia. You can reach the East Frisian cities of Emden, Leer and Aurich in 15-30 minutes. The departure ports to the East Frisian islands can be reached within an hour's drive.
Timmel itself is a state-recognised climatic health and recreation resort with well-developed cycle paths and lies directly on the German Fehnroute. The word Fehn comes from the Dutch (Veen) and means moor. Quiet Fehn canals (Wieken), green meadows, windmills, gulf farms and hedgerows characterise the Fehn landscape.

Very calm and relaxed
We really enjoyed our vacation, the men could fish directly from the dock. There is a rowboat at the house that we also enjoyed using. The bakery, restaurant, and beach bar are quickly reachable on foot. The landlords and the cleaning staff on site are very friendly. Now we just need a dishwasher and Wi-Fi?

Pure relaxation.
The house is located on a canal with a dock and boat, wonderful trips can be made. The facilities are clean, cozy, and well-equipped. The terrace offers a great view all the way to the Timmeler Sea. It is very quiet and relaxing. Shops nearby are also open on Sundays. Ample parking right at the house. We felt comfortable. There is a garden house with sun loungers, a grill, and garden chairs. Unfortunately, there is no WLAN internet.

Hello! With a lot of love we have built one of the few detached holiday homes on the water and have a lot of fun renting it out and during our own holidays in Timmel. I was born on the coast and really appreciate the country and its people. My wife says I can smell the North Sea even 60 km away, she is right! I hope you will learn to love East Frisia too, let yourself be inspired.
