Description

Luxury villa situated right above the sea. Splendid sea views. 5 large bedrooms (sleeps 10 + 2), 4 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, dining area, bar, modern fully equiped kitchen. Several terraces with 2 dining tables and 2 sofas.
Built in 2001 and completely renovated in 2011, the villa offers 400 m2 living space, 250m2 terraces and it is situated on the rocks above the sea. Total plot size of 1800 m2. It is located on Punta de La Mona, a green spit of land in the bay of La Herradura.
The villa offers stunning views from almost every part of the house. Thanks to its south facing location and 180 degrees views of the sea, the house enjoys the sunshine from early morning until the evening, and during October to March the sun actually rises and sets in the sea.

Spacious and contemporary villa with private pool

At entrance level, the front door is in the tower. It immediately opens up to the great panoramic view that the villa offers. Here, there is an open staircase (vide) to the basement level. On the entrance level there is a large dining area, a very spacious living area with TV and a modern fully equipped open kitchen. In total 110 m2. This area has light oak parquet flooring, the kitchen has natural stone. This whole area has a dramatic view towards the rocks on the east side and the open sea on the south side. At this level there is a terrace on the whole south side with a dining table (seats 12), sofas (seat 8) and pool table. There is a separate toilet and a laundry area with washing machine and dryer.
From the Tower area there is also a staircase leading to the 1st and 2nd floors.

5 large bedrooms (sleeps 10 + 2), all with AC,top quality beds, 4 bathrooms

On the 1st floor there is the Master Bedroom (22m2) with a balcony and beautiful views facing both east and southwards. The en-suite bathroom is fully equipped with a large shower area, 2 basins and a toilet. Like all other bedrooms the Master Bedroom has a walk-in-closet and cherry parquet flooring. It’s bed (180cm/210cm) is of the highest quality.
On the same floor there is another bedroom (18m2), with 2 separate top quality beds (90/200cm) a walk in closet, balcony and cherry parquet flooring. Also on this floor is a separate bathroom with large shower area, a jacuzzi-bath, 2 basins and a toilet. This bathroom is shared with the 3rd bedroom which is in the tower area (2nd floor). This bedroom (15m2) has 2 top quality beds (90/200cm), a walk-in closet and terrace with spectacular views. On top of the tower there is yet another terrace.
In the basement area, under the entrance level, there are 2 more bedrooms (21m2 and 24m2). Each has a sizable walk-in-closet, fully equipped en-suite bathroom and top-quality double bed (180/210cm). Both have great views and access to the swimming pool and terrace. In the 2 lower bedrooms there is a sofa/bed where an additional 2 young people can sleep (both beds are 130/200cm).

Heated swimming pool and wonderful terrace

On the basement level of this villa, there is another sitting area with a large TV, an office corner, a separate toilet and a bar (equipped with fridge, wine cooler and coffee maker). A total of 70m2, all with natural stone on the floor. From the bar area there is access to the swimming pool terrace.
On the swimming pool terrace there is a covered sofa area (seats 6), a dining area (seats 12) and deck chairs. There is a table-tennis table on the west-terrace.
The infinity swimming pool (4x8m) has an additional shallow area of 4m2 where people can sunbathe and relax. There is an outside shower too. The pool is solar heated.
The whole terrace has uninterrupted views towards the sea. Below the terrace there is a tropical garden with fruit trees and on the east side a rocky-garden.

A villa with heated pool and extra luxury

The villa has satellite TV (Astra 1) and all the Spanish channels. It has WIFI, music speakers throughout the house (Radio, I-pod), a CD player and a Play Station. It has a pool table, table tennis, and a BBQ.
High quality materials have been used throughout the whole villa. In winter time the house is kept warm through under-floor heating and in the basement there is a separate heating and air-conditioning system. There is good water pressure for 4 showers being used at the same time.
The kitchen offers an induction hob, dishwasher, big fridge freezer, large oven, microwave and plenty of appliances (incl. coffee maker, toaster, rice cooker, blender), together with high quality utensils, etc.
The beds are all large; the 3 double beds are all 180x210cm and the 4 single beds 90x200cm. They all have 7-zone pocket-string mattresses, a high quality topper and good pillows. We also offer both summer and winter duvets.
All the sofas and dining areas, both inside and outside, are of very high quality and very comfortable.
There is space for 2 cars in the secluded area of the house.

Location and surroundings of object

The coast from Nerja all the way to the east is called the Costa Tropical. That is not surprising because this part of the South Coast has its own tropical micro climate and a wide variety of fruits growing in this area.

La Herradura
La Herradura (‘horseshoe’) is situated in a spectacular bay on the foot of the Alpujarra mountain range. Some 70km east of Malaga and 90km south of Granada, this small but lively town has a 3 km stretch of beach and boulevard, several restaurants and it offers diving and other water sports activities. It has 3 good beaches in the vicinity. On the east-side there is a small harbor.

Punta de la Mona, the green spit of land on the east side of the bay, has a light house, a restaurant and is a villa area. La Torre is situated at the very south side of the Punta, 15 minutes on foot from the centre of La Herradura and its beach.

La Herradura is lively all year around. In the winter many pensioners stay there to enjoy the weather, which is the best of all continental Europa. With more than 300 days of sun shine and an average temperature in winter of close to 20oC, the climate in La Herradura and its surroundings are even better than the rest of the South coast. In summer it doesn’t get all that hot because of the light sea-breeze. In the summer La Herradura is very lively, but since it has a limited capacity and no high rise, it never attracts the mass-tourism like on the Costa del Sol.

Cancellation terms:

  • We will confirm booking once people have paid the first 30% deposit. The booking then is binding. The remaining 70% plus a EUR 500,- refundable security deposit is required to be paid 8 weeks prior to the rental period. We expect people to take out their own cancelation insurance. We will always try to find good and fair solutions for our visitors in exceptional (personal) circumstances. E.g. if in such a case we can rent out La Torre to others we will fully refund. During the pandamic we have asked all our guests to first deal with their insurance company but returned moneys in case no compensation was offered by the insurance company.

The surroundings of La Herradura
Only 7 km east from La Herradura is Almunecar, a typically old Spanish seaside town, dating back to Roman times. It is overlooked by the remains of an old Moorish castle. The maze of narrow streets in the old quarter are crammed with a variety of shops, bars and restaurants which come alive at night. There is an excellent indoor market selling (cheap!) wonderful freshly caught fish and seafood and an amazing variety of exotic, locally grown fruit and vegetables.There are tropical gardens and parks to relax in, plazas with tapas bars and restaurants offering alfresco dining. The palm-lined promenade stretches several kilometres with many excellent restaurants and lively bars.There is also a large Aqua park with flumes and rides, which is open June until September.From here a road leads into the rough and spectacular mountain range and Rio Verde. It is a magnificent mountain area and offers great hiking opportunities. One hiking trails leads into the beautiful gorge of the Rio Verde. It is only a 25 minutes drive away from La Herradura.Granada (approx 90 km) is only a good 50 minutes away. Granada and the world known Alhambra palace is about an hour inland with many beautiful villages nestling in the Alpjurras en-route. Granada itself is a beautiful city with an historic centre and is a pleasant town to go shopping.

Just south of Granada are the Nevada mountains. The highest mountain is 3400m and it offers great skying opportunities in the winter and hiking is possible all year round. At the south side of the Sierra Nevada valleys and gorges form las Alpujurras. Villages like Trevelez (known for their ham) are really worth visiting.

West of La Herradura (10km) one can find the old and pretty town Nerja. It is the start of the Costa del Sol. It is a 10 minutes drive on the motorway or 20 minutes by the winding coast road. Nerja is a more developed resort, more typical of the neighbouring Costa del Sol, with sandy beaches and the beautiful Balcon d’Europa promenade and pedastrianised shopping area.

In between La Herradura and Nerja are grottos that people can visit all year. Land-inwards from Nerja lies Frigiliana, a town of white houses and narrow streets nestled in the mountains.
