Description

Holiday home with large south-facing balcony and spacious living/dining room as well as 2 bedrooms.
(1 bedroom with double bed, 1 children's room with bunk bed)
If required, an additional full-size sleeping place for 1 person in the living room. During the day a comfortable sofa ,
this can be converted into a sofa bed (140x200) if required
Fully equipped fitted kitchen with coffee machine
Bathroom with shower and WC.
The sunbathing lawn next to your house is perfect to round off your holiday with a delicious
Barbecue and a cool beer or a good glass of wine

The parking space reserved for you is opposite. If you arrive with bicycles
you can store them in the cellar of your house, protected from the weather.

Location and surroundings of object

Both holiday homes ( Leo XIII and St. Joseph) are located -separated by the sunbathing lawn- in an absolutely quiet location
(private road) on a hillside in Obertrubach with a beautiful view over the whole village
Behind the houses begins our beautiful Franconian mixed beech forest with its typical rock formations.
In the immediate vicinity there are well signposted hiking trails and Nordic walking trails.
In winter, cross-country skiing trails are groomed in the area; in Spies + Osternohe there are 2 ski lifts for beginners and children. The downhill slopes in the Fichtelgebirge (Ochsenkopf-Warmensteinach) can be reached by car in about 1 hour.

There are a number of sights in the immediate vicinity that can be easily reached by car, such as the Hundshaupten Wildlife Park or the pilgrimage basilica in Gößweinstein. For the adventurous and families, there are the climbing parks in Betzenstein and Pottenstein as well as the canoe rental for paddling on the Wiesent. Fun for young and old, small and large. The ErlebnisCard Fränkische Schweiz (Franconian Switzerland Adventure Card) for discounted admission to many sights/events is available from us free of charge.
In the village shop opposite the church you can buy everything for your daily needs - breakfast included
Also open on Sundays during the summer months. For a coffee break on your balcony, you can also get all kinds of delicacies from the bakery in the village.
There is a charging station for electric cars in the centre of the village.

For previous regular guests: we have taken over the houses Leo XIII and St. Joseph at the end of 2021 from the former owners, the Dinkel family + extensively renovated. Welcome also to us - the neighbours from across the street. Some of you may already know us from hiking or snowshoeing together in the area.... :-).

Top accommodation and surroundings

The accommodation was very clean and, in a word, simply wonderful; very well and stylishly furnished; there was really nothing missing; we felt very comfortable and will think back to the beautiful days for a long time. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Ludwig and keep it up.

Beautiful, well-equipped little house with nice landlords.

We spent our Easter vacation at the St. Joseph House and enjoyed it very much. The house is quietly situated, right by the forest, with a view of the small village of Obertrubach. The facilities leave nothing to be desired. The landlords are very nice, easily reachable, and gladly provide tips for activities in the area. Thank you very much, Ludwig family!

Best starting point for hikes and honeymoon :-)

We spent 5 great days here with our dog. Every day we could head in a different direction and there was a lot to discover. The local amenities also leave nothing to be desired!
We were able to spend super nice days here after our wedding and after the exciting event, we could also review all the beautiful moments.

Beautiful holiday by the sea.

St. Joseph is a beautiful house, with everything you need. Everything was super clean, nothing was missing. The house is furnished with so much attention to detail, really great, and has a wonderful view over the village from the large balcony. In addition to a delicious "welcome snack," our dog was also thought of with an attention. Sabine and Roland are super nice landlords who are always approachable and provide good tips. We felt very comfortable. Thank you very much for everything, and we would love to come back.

Family-friendly accommodation.

We (2 adults, 3 small children) felt very comfortable in the holiday home Am Sonnhang. The equipment of the house was fabulous, especially the equipment for small children such as a travel cot, high chair, potty, stool, children's dishes, etc. We lacked nothing. Very nice and helpful hosts.

A wonderfully relaxing holiday in a very beautiful setting.

We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing holiday in the heart of Franconian Switzerland. The location of the holiday home and the owners ensured that you lack for nothing. More than fully furnished, equipped with all conveniences, and lovely beds. When the weather permits, you can enjoy breakfast and sunbathe on the spacious balcony. A delightful quiet village, equipped with all comforts. A great starting point for many hikes and bike rides. Obertrubach is surrounded by many hiking trails / cycling opportunities and many beautiful historic small villages. Historical places such as Bayreuth, Bamberg, and Nuremberg are easily accessible. Meadows, fields, forests, valleys, and small rivers alternate with each other. Whether you want to be active or relax, all conditions are met for that.

Perfect holiday

Many thanks to the friendly landlords. We were greeted very friendly and provided with many good tips during our stay. It was a feel-good holiday!
There are countless exciting hiking tours in the area (also directly from the house). The nice landlord couple even took us on a hike - where else can you find something like that? Bamberg and Nuremberg are ideal if you need a bit more hustle and bustle. And afterwards you can end the day in the cosy and clean house. Simply perfect!

So ist es Freude und Vergnügen für alle. Gerne wieder + die versprochene Schneeschuh-Wanderung ist schon vorgemerkt, wenn ihr uns einmal im Winter besuchen wollt !!!

Wonderful walking holiday with dog

This was our first time in Franconian Switzerland,
we found a very clean and well-furnished holiday home with a beautiful view over the valley and the village.
The landlords were (dog-) friendly and open-minded, always had good tips for various excursions, for recommendable restaurants.
The car did not always have to be moved, many hikes of different lengths were possible from the house.
The cities of Bamberg, Bayreuth and Nuremberg were also a "must have" and could be reached in less than 50 km.

Conclusion: Highly recommended.

Lucky find

We spent two wonderful climbing weeks in Obertrubach and the surrounding area. The village is beautifully situated and is home to several goats, which you can also feed. The local village shop is within walking distance of the holiday home and offers fresh baked goods as well as regional products daily in addition to the usual supermarket assortment. The holiday home was a real stroke of luck. It is located in a quiet area (ok, except for the church bells), is very cosy and lovingly furnished. The kitchen equipment is almost perfect, even the egg piecer has been thought of! So it's no problem at all to stay longer at the rock or to start later. We felt very comfortable and often sat on the balcony late at night, which was big enough to spread out our climbing equipment. We were warmly welcomed by the hosts and received a lot of information. Many thanks for the nice conversations. Our conclusion is quite clear: we would love to come back!

Hiking in the golden October

Our first hiking holiday with two children (11,14) took us to Obertrubach in Franconian Switzerland. We were very warmly welcomed by the Ludwig family and therefore immediately felt at home. Thanks to the many good excursion tips, which we gladly accepted and implemented, we spent a super great holiday week. We were also thrilled by the location of the holiday home with a view over the valley. We really enjoyed it - thank you very much for everything!

Franconian Switzerland - our favorite climbing paradise

We have been coming to the Franconian Switzerland for climbing during the summer vacation from Braunschweig for years. Often, we are simply camping, but now with our younger children and the current Corona situation, we have looked for a cozy holiday home for 2 weeks. During the day, we went climbing, and in the evenings, we enjoyed the time at home on the large terrace with the beautiful view. We really liked it - thank you very much for the hospitality.
