Holiday home with large south-facing balcony and spacious living/dining room with wood-burning stove
Bedroom with double bed and additional full-size sleeping place for 1 person in the living room.
A comfortable sofa during the day, which can be converted into a sofa bed (140x200) if required
into a sofa bed. Fully equipped fitted kitchen with coffee machine
Bathroom with shower and WC.
The sunbathing lawn next to your house is perfect to round off your holiday with a delicious
Barbecue and a cool beer or a good glass of wine

The parking space reserved for you is opposite. If you arrive with bicycles
you can store them in the cellar of your house, protected from the weather.

Location and surroundings of object

Both holiday homes ( Leo XIII and St. Joseph) are located -separated by the sunbathing lawn- in an absolutely quiet location
(private road) on a hillside in Obertrubach with a beautiful view over the whole village
Behind the houses begins our beautiful Franconian mixed beech forest with its typical rock formations.
In the immediate vicinity there are well signposted hiking trails and Nordic walking trails.
In winter, cross-country skiing trails are groomed in the area; in Spies + Osternohe there are 2 ski lifts for beginners and children. The downhill slopes in the Fichtelgebirge (Ochsenkopf-Warmensteinach) can be reached by car in about 1 hour.

There are a number of sights in the immediate vicinity that can be easily reached by car, such as the Hundshaupten Wildlife Park or the pilgrimage basilica in Gößweinstein. For the adventurous and families, there are the climbing parks in Betzenstein and Pottenstein as well as the canoe rental for paddling on the Wiesent. Fun for young and old, small and large. The ErlebnisCard Fränkische Schweiz (Franconian Switzerland Adventure Card) for discounted admission to many sights/events is available from us free of charge.
In the village shop opposite the church you can buy everything for your daily needs - breakfast included
Also open on Sundays during the summer months. For a coffee break on your balcony, you can also get all kinds of delicacies from the bakery in the village.
There is a charging station for electric cars in the centre of the village.

For previous regular guests: we have taken over the houses Leo XIII and St. Joseph at the end of 2021 from the former owners, the Dinkel family + extensively renovated. Welcome also to us - the neighbours from across the street. Some of you already know us from hiking or snowshoeing together in the area.... :-).

Pure holiday enjoyment

We encountered a very clean vacation apartment that had everything we needed.
From the balcony, there is a wonderful view over the beautiful town of Obertrubach.
We visited the relatively nearby cities of Regensburg, Bamberg, and Bayreuth, which we were very taken with.
Additionally, we walked a lot in the picturesque landscape of the Franconian Switzerland.
The Franconian cuisine deserves high praise, as it is very good, very hearty, and above all still affordable. All in all, pure vacation pleasure!

Pure relaxation in Franconian Switzerland

We really enjoyed our vacation at Sonnenhang despite the initially bad weather, especially the tree sauna was a highlight for us :)
The holiday home Leo XIII is a beautiful house with a great view. The hedge was trimmed especially for us... Thank you very much for that!!!
We enjoyed the time very much; it went by too quickly.
Thank you very much for the hiking tips and the note about the bench with the great view :-)

Fascination

This accommodation is highly recommended, with super beautiful nature and an incredibly nice view from the terrace of the idyllic village. The decor is also done with attention to detail. Very warm hosts, making you feel right at home. There's even a sauna available, great. And the wonderful peace that you can enjoy.

Cottage in the Green

Beautiful holiday cottage in Franconian Switzerland with a dreamlike view. Pretty and cozy furnishings with attention to detail. Hiking trails right at the doorstep. A dream for dog owners. The central location of Obertrubach is excellent for us 3D archers to visit the surrounding courses. Very nice owners. We would love to come back.

Splendid shelter with picturesque view

Wonderful view, very nice holiday apartment, friendly landlords, everything you could wish for even with a small child. The path to the holiday apartment from the town center is a bit steep, which is to be expected in Franconian Switzerland, but people who have trouble walking should be aware of this in advance.

Simply beautiful

I can only agree with the previous speakers. We really enjoyed our stay. We particularly enjoyed the evening in the sauna. After an eventful day, it was simply wonderful.
Everything we needed was really available in the house (sometimes you just have to search a little longer ;-)) You can start hikes and bike tours directly from the house and you can also get everything you need in the village. The bakery behind the church is particularly recommended. :)

Quiet and beautiful!

From the warm welcome by the hosts to the equipment of the house: I can wholeheartedly recommend this overall package of comfort and service! It was uncomplicated for us to bring our dog, which unfortunately is not always the case in vacation rentals. The highlights of "Haus Leo" are the cozy fireplace for cool evenings and the quiet location - apart from a morning bird concert from the forest, there are no disturbances and you can find real rest from everyday life on new Tempur mattresses. Within walking distance is the bakery and of course everything else that the "Fränkische" region has to offer - what more could you want on vacation?

Beautiful accommodation in Franconian Switzerland

The Leo XIII holiday home is located on a beautiful slope with a view over the village of Obertrubach and offers enough space for 2-3 people. The furnishings of the cottage are very tastefully designed and everything important is available. Within walking distance there is a bakery and a village shop where you can stock up on daily needs. The landlords welcomed us very warmly and provided us with many travel tips and maps for the surrounding area and were also very willing to take a spontaneous trip to a few sights and show us the beautiful Franconian Switzerland. Thank you again for that! We mainly used the week of vacation for extensive hikes. From the holiday home itself, you have many possibilities to take circular routes or individual routes through the forests and small villages. The paths are all very well signposted, so getting lost is almost impossible. Furthermore, the Franconian Switzerland offers many climbing opportunities on the beautiful dolomite rocks, as well as many beautiful caves and castle ruins that can be visited. Highly recommended.

It was dreamlike

We were in Franconian Switzerland for the first time and were very enthusiastic about the landscape as well as the holiday home and host. The house Leo has everything we need and it is super furnished. Roland and Sabine were the best hosts we have ever met. Even in the absolute snow chaos we were supported with all means (even snow chains!). Thank you again, this was not the last time we stayed with you!
It was simply great.

Wenn es im Winter sooo heftig schneit (was selten vorkommt), ist es immer am Abreisetag.
Da wollte der Petrus euch sagen-bleibt doch noch ein bisschen, hier ist es so schön !
Und für die 300 m den Berg herunter braucht man dann eben einen Plan B :-) - kein Problem.

What a beautiful destination!

We stayed for a week with the Ludwig family, in one of their vacation homes.

Everything went well. Even the predicted rainy days did not occur.
Modern cozy house with a beautiful view, in a stunning area.

There is a lot to do and see here, even if you are not an avid hiker.

We recommend, for example, the industrial museum in Lauf ad Pegnitz. Beautiful museum and surprisingly nice little town.

Simply super!

Best location! Newly and tastefully furnished, very fully equipped and with a large covered balcony overlooking the village. Fantastic hosts who really want their guests to have a good time and are happy to give all sorts of tips. The baker and the village shop (with the slogan "Has almost everything"?) are within walking distance. And the insanely beautiful nature is everywhere. We always like to go somewhere else on holiday, but we will definitely come back here!

Great vacation

Unfortunately, our vacation was too short….
We would have liked to stay longer; the landscape is just fantastic. Obertrubach offers everything one needs for a hiking vacation. After hiking, we regularly stopped by the baker's and enjoyed the cake with wonderful coffee (super coffee machine) on the balcony of the holiday apartment. Free of charge: the view of the Trubach Valley. In the evenings, we cooked ourselves a little something (the kitchen is perfectly equipped and the village shop has almost everything). When it got a bit cooler in between, we lit the fireplace. Very cozy! The Ludwig family was always available for questions and provided us with good hiking recommendations.
We will come back!

spontaneous Pentecost holiday enjoyment

As the first guests after the reopening, we were able to fully enjoy the week. The cottage is very cozy furnished with a beautiful view of the valley. Thank you for the lovely time and for allowing us to inaugurate the Leo XIII house. The children and we felt very welcome.
