Tip: Drive through Charleroi, across the Belgian-French border, keep south and you'll get to the lake Lac du ValJoly. On the north side of the lake you'll find the fantastic holiday park Les Hauts de ValJoly. Holiday park Les Hauts de Valjoly is located in the centre of nature reserve Parc Naturel Régional de l'Avesnois, a pristine area that, in terms of beauty, is not inferior to the Ardennes. You can experience deep forests, but also rugged, more open areas. Unforgettable hiking and mountain biking can be done here. Enjoy going into nature, enjoy the forest air and magnificent panoramas. You can be sure that the deer will notice you!
For gourmets: a small way across the Belgian border you'll find Chimay (18km), with the abbey and its famous Trappist beer and cheese. You'll also find a castle and a butterfly garden here. Tennis fans can enjoy a game on the tennis court in Eppe-Sauvage (3km). But to be honest: the main attraction in these parts is, and will always be, nature. It's so beautiful here, just a few hours by car away from our flat country!
For your daily shopping, go to the shopping street with its restaurants, crêperie, ice cream parlour, grocery store, boutiques and Irish pub. The natural environment has much to offer. Follow the tree trail, go do some archery or venture out on horseback. Several services are offered at the reception (for an additional fee) to make your stay agreeable, including free wireless internet and fresh bread delivered to your home. You may also make use of the washer and dryer at an additional fee. There is a central parking space.
There is much to experience at lake Lac du ValJoly. Swimming is not allowed, but nearly all types of water activities are possible. Do you enjoy fishing? Don't forget your fishing rod. A license can be bought at the reception. There are sports - and game equipments for the little and bigger children. There is (at a special rate), a trampoline, miniature golf and in winter, a small ice rink.
You have free access to the adventure wave pool. For an additional fee, you can relax in the sauna, jacuzzi and hammam. During summer an outdoor swimming pool with children's pool is available. All activities can be found at a ten to twenty-minute walk.
Would you rather go for a drive by car? Then lonely winding roads will reveal themselves through the greenery before you. Past the many other lakes, such as Étang de la Galoperie (16km) and villages such as Wallers-en-Fagne (9km), known for its blue stone quarries. You can do the children a big favour by visiting the zoo of Maubeuge (30km). Something quite different is the Matisse Museum in Le Cateau-Cambrésis (50km), the birthplace of the famous painter. You'll marvel at the Gallo-Roman excavations at Bavay (44km).

The arrival and the accommodation was very pleased. about the choice of location is an opinion but no degradation at the holiday park.

Staff were fine, quality of cottage a lot less. Environment was not as much to do as expected
Pascal Torfs
The park, the accommodations were an ambience of tranquility! Beautiful setting, nice accommodation and calm and quiet ... perfect for people who want to enjoy a quiet holiday in the countryside
Zara Hussen
Calm, pleasant and cozy atmosphere. Just a pity about the weather (rain)

Park looks great, there are many activities, not only on the lake. Unfortunately everything in French and there is little attempt to communicate in another language. Shame we have so many steps to walk from downtown to our cottage to lopen.8 press cottage is perfect for 6 people, but not for more.
Thomas Teule
nice environment with many opportunities for activities for young and old.

For the second time have made a home in Val Joly. Both times in the May and a total of 6 people. The fact that we we like it right the second time visited this site already indicates. It is a wonderful area for walking, the cottages are well cared for, the friendly staff and plenty of other activities to entertain you for a week. Especially with the grandchildren is the climbing and pool particular taste.

Not too big, but good for 8 people. The house has a modern look and modern. The children could quietly go about their business and I can enjoy undisturbed peace.

The houses need some renovation. Everything creaks and wears out. Park is okay. Distance is great to the shops.
AJ Naipal
Nice stay. Was clean and equipped with the promised facilities.
Wouter Heinen
Great stay, value for money.

The staff were friendly and we could communicate in English. The accommodation is small and dark. Small balcony and terribly bad beds. 6-8 pers. is not realistic about the seating option and there would be people in the living room on the sofa bed, which incidentally is also very bad for your back. The park itself was fun with activities. But everything has to be paid for and everything closes at 7 or 8 p.m. Especially with teenagers a missed opportunity. The washing machine in the laundry room was defective during our 2 wk stay. All in all, the area is wooded and beautiful. But for a family there is little to do and this accommodation was certainly way overpriced. We are not going back there again.

The house was dirty, there were crumbs, sand, dust and hair on the floors. The Teflon non-stick coating on the frying pan was badly damaged with loose particles, as you know this poses a serious health hazard when used. The filter of the dishwasher was filthy. The use of our own supboards on the lake was not allowed, so we left a few days earlier.

Beautiful surroundings and a lovely pool. Many hiking opportunities. Activities have plenty to do, or all at huge cost. For cycling on normal bikes the environment is not suitable we thought. We were in an 8 person cabin with 6 people and had desperately needed the space, 8 people had been too small. The lake is beautifully situated and environment is quiet. Lovely to come and chill out!

A nice area where all activities are within walking distance and no reservation is required. The kids loved it and had at one week is not enough to do everything there is to do. Our cottage had no view of the lake, no grass area around it. For a family with three children is not a luxury cottage for 8 people in space. Little curious that you actually book 2 cabins. For the complete rest and good service (including Wifi at the reception).

A splendid view of the lake and surrounding area! Nice terrace! Two bathrooms ! A separate toilet and another in a bathroom! too small house for 8 people. The rooms are too small for a cot and more. In this case you have to change the place of beds, sleep without heating or door no longer closes. Too much furniture in the living room. Heating under the sink in a bathroom. TV and internet charges. Not enough "tools for cleaning, no" vacuum cleaner. One should buy a cleaning kit or cleaning to let 112 euros. Not enough "cabinets or closets in the bedrooms. The closet in the room to" floor is for athletes or very tall people. Curtains for all the windows were welcome. The "staircase is loud. Pool Entry understood when one map (1.5 euros). The pool is lovely with different pools, the temperature of the" good water a bit too hot but when you come out the "water is too cold. Very good restaurant, a small grocery store and pleasant on-site shops.

Fine park: spacious, wooded, relaxed atmosphere, lots of pursuits on the park itself. Surroundings: very little tourism monotonous and simple, a lot of beautiful nature. We were quite comfortable with 6 in an 8-pers.huisje (2 bathrooms and 2 toilets!), But really 'over' was still not. If you go out, no problem, but otherwise ... (sitting room / kitchen is spacious). Note exorbitant cleaning price (through Lowcost € 192, via park itself € 112)> so only done themselves.

The park is very nice on the hill by the lake. Lots of nature and peace around you. We sat with 4 people an 8 person cottage and it was very nice. 8 people, it is not recommended because of the space and the sofa bed in the living room.

A beautiful large park with a very nice location. The houses are somewhat outdated in terms of interior, equipment and furniture and could use some updating. An air conditioner would also be very welcome. And it's a bit of a shame that the WiFi isn't free. There are also no facilities for electric cars for the guests. If you ask, you can charge at a point intended for employees only at night. And that is simply not convenient if several guests have an electric car…
