Large welcoming 2-bedroom castle in Onlay can accommodate 4 people and is ideal for a family. It features a pool (shared) and garden, amidst gorgeous surroundings offering complete privacy.
The forest, just 100 m away can be visited for long walks or to explore the nature in peace. Nearest restaurants, 2 km away can be visited for good food. The town centre (with supermarket, pubs and other facilities) is 8 km away.
Fitness freaks can go for a refreshing swim in the pool (shared) or play table tennis table. The castle also has a well-maintained fenced garden and a terrace, where you can enjoy the French sun. Being a child-friendly property, cot and high chair is available on request. Central heating, barbecue, kitchen and living cum dining room are other available amenities.

Description is very nice, only we missed a terrace with good chairs, now there were vulnerable beach chairs. Surroundings were beautiful, rural and quiet. We enjoyed the swimming pool very much.

The apartment / gîte is immaculate, a discreet luxury, there is everything, very clean. Absolute calm that we appreciated on our return from the hikes in the park in the company of birds, bees and bumblebees, with this unique view of the old walls of the castle, without forgetting a unique panorama of the countryside, and in the evening a very beautiful sky star. An excellent base for hiking trips and visits to towns and villages. Have a good vacation, it's going to be hard to get back among the crowds and traffic. You have to figure out where exactly Château de Thard is located, the address given by Belvilla is incorrect. The navigation of the car (4 year old maps in a VW) and Google Maps do not know the address. Apple Maps knows the address. That was how it was found in Google Maps, under address "2 Man de Thard" in Onlay. It seems that the street name has in fact changed its name a few times in the 900-meter-long driveway. Once the navigation at the right address is found. It is also indicated near the chateau. Don't be put off by the "private" signs and you can drive straight to the chateau. Upon arrival they were already waiting outside and they immediately pointed us to the parking lot. All details were already known, so after a short tour of the rooms we were given the key. It was really great to sleep in a chateau. The bed slept wonderfully and the bedrooms are spacious. Wonderful rain shower with a quantity of water that makes me a little jealous at home. The rooms are quite dark during the day, because of the small windows in the old chateau, well, that is also a bit part of it. The kitchen was also fully equipped. The week before we were a 5-minute walk from a bakery, that is quite different here. Fifteen minutes by car for the nearest bakery. You will get in return that you can enjoy peace and quiet around the chateau. Delicious! The area was beautiful, it is just searching for suitable hiking trails with a little one, through Geocaching we found a number of beautiful trails. Despite the slightly colder weather in the first week of May, we had a great week of vacation.

The coordinates in the travel documents are those of Onlay. The right ones for the castle are 46.948111 N, 3.905066 E. The castle is also better to be found under Château de Thard. Once you have passed the 1km long unpaved road (not recommended for lowered cars), you are at the castle one immediately with his charm for all tortures indemnified. We were very nice received by 2 friends of the owner, who unfortunately could not be present. So we were alone up there on a hill with a great view over the beautiful landscape. If you are looking for peace, is absolutely right here. Great for hiking, biking or reading. With children it can be long, but thanks to the ping pong table we could also deal well in the evening. The apartment is well equipped and has everything you need. Juan has designed the old walls tastefully and combined them with old furniture. There is nothing broken and technically all right.

- Super reception by nice acquaintances of the owner (who was abroad) - Fantastic place, really middle of nowhere, we found fantastic with little children, who had the whole huge garden at their disposal, with older children I can imagine that they get bored earlier (the pool was still open)

Great welcome by the owner and a perfect stay all the way through. The best way to sum it up is probably to say that this is a little bite of the real France and a bit like at fairytale. Sincerely recommended.

Charming gîte in the tower of the castle on a large estate with beautiful views of the valley. Who is looking for silence and rest and likes walks in fairytale-like forests is the right place!

Mooi kasteeltje, prima ruimtes en goed ingericht, fijn (onverwarmd) zwembad. Hele mooie omgeving. Hou er echter rekening mee dat er in de verre omtrek helemaal niets te beleven valt wat gezellige marktjes of terrasjes betreft.

Although we arrived early we could enter. A very nice apartment, the turret, in the castle. Inside everything was neat and clean. Nothing to criticize. The pool was neat and the seating and lounging areas around it looked professional. The owner, Juan, is a very friendly man. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and it is also one to return to.

Seeing Castle and its grounds are beautiful. The rooms are adequate and above all fully furnished. There is nearby (late April) do not do very much, but the beautiful scenery makes up for it I have never seen so many beautiful shades of green in one place!
