The southern Thuringian Forest is one of the most beautiful low mountain ranges in Europe and is also known as "The Green Heart of Germany". Extensive hiking trails are perfect for full-day tours or walks. The historic, famous Rennsteig is one of the most popular and well-known hiking trails in Germany. This detached holiday home in a distinctive, quiet and sunny location is on the outskirts of the small village of Engenstein and borders directly on the forest. Make yourself comfortable on the covered terrace and enjoy a wonderful view of the surrounding woods. The holiday home can be reached from the parking lot (approx. 50 m) via a small path (see pictures). The region offers an extensive range of sports and leisure activities as well as numerous attractions and museums in both summer and winter. Popular excursion destinations in the area include Erfurt (60 km), Weimar (70 km) or Eisenach (100 km).

what can not be seen in the photo, is the busy regional road that passes below the house. This really is a great pity for the otherwise good location.

Arrived in Thuringia free of traffic jams. A nice house fully equipped and a warm welcome. Beautiful wooded area and a perfect base for walks and city trips.

Dated but a nice cozy cottage. Location is perfect and with the dog from the cottage directly into the forest. The road that lies next to the house is still quite busy. The maximum speed is 70 there, but it is often harder driven, taking care of children and pets. We would have a week there but left on day four because the weather was very bad. Do you want peace and nature, a big recommendation !.

The hostess was a kind, considerate older mrs. bottles of beer and wine on arrival, change towels, tips, etc. The cottage is dated, but well maintained. Disturbing are eg. The rusty electric plates, which so distorted skillet is hot bad, no colander, no serving spoons etc. sort camp in a vak.huisje. The location and surroundings are fine, sightseeing trips and interesting.

Small rustic house at the edge of the forest. Starting point for many, also quickly accessible destinations in the Thuringian Forest. The landlady is very nice and accommodating, open to every wish. We have recovered well.

Good reception. Accommodation good, small room but everything is there. We had beautiful weather so we could sit outside and eat. A beautiful place in beautiful surroundings to be able to walk with our dog straight into the forest.

Very friendly owners. They had even put down beers when we arrived. Later came the week they still bring a drink made by herself. Very gezellig.Huisje is nice and fully equipped. Very small though. May not be suitable for very tall people. I (1.87) Felt sometimes a giant. The cottage has something away from as "a small house in the open air. But really really nice !! The trails on the mountain start right next to the cottage, very nice. For people with dogs ideal. House is located on a quiet country road, so if you are looking for the ultimate in peace, this is perhaps a bit disappointing. We found it nice to occasionally see or hear anything! the environment is nice drive there to see tallaze things within an hour. within cycling distance is a big lake to swim in. We are far from been a nice thermal pool (30 min car) .Just a nice cottage, We had a nice time!

Prima house, not large, but fully equipped. Beautiful place, very nice owners who even came over with a bottle of sect. When we arrived there was a vase of fresh flowers on the table and a beer. Felt very welcome. Around the house is quite a lot of space so you can always sit. In the sun or shade Drawback is the quite busy road where the house is, and because you sit high, there is a lot of noise. It may be that we just hit it wrong because there was a diversion.

It was a nice vacation, nice and cozy cottage between nature. We have entertained us fine, beautiful walks and also made the dog has two weeks to live off. Very friendly owner, very helpful.

Knusperhauschen is in a relatively quiet valley from which very well the nature of the Thuringian Forest can be discovered. The house is small, but fine for two people. The owner and her husband and son are cordial people, who invited us soon for a drink ... and then some very pleasant evening was special beers and drinks. The next day she came along with Thuringer sausage ... we enjoyed this week not only of Thuringia, where everything has its own character and pace, but also through contact and approach to us by the owners. Insanely fun!

A nice little house on a slope with the forest directly behind it. Ideal for the dog. In the house everything you need, including good hiking maps. You can sit outside in both the sun and shade. Very friendly owner, who would like to help you have a good holiday. There is plenty to see and do in the area. Plenty of walking opportunities.
