The Holiday home

Detailed description of accommodation:

Today's remaining vacation accommodation was part of a historic four-sided farm, which became state property after expropriation in 1946. Years of decay and settlement by changing families, mostly from brother states of Czechoslovakia, followed. In the 1950s two parts of the four-sided farm were used as fuel and the remains were demolished and levelled.

Until the year of restitution in 1994, the remaining building was used by a family from nearby “Prachatice”. In May 1999, we bought the ruin from them. Carefully and with a lot of help from friends and construction companies the old walls were restored and made habitable again. Old parts were secured, and new parts were added reasonable. In 1999, our family celebrated Christmas in the main house of "farm estate Koryto" for the first time.

Until 2005, the part of the building of the former cow barn with the hayloft above was extensively renovated and converted into a guest apartment. The addition of a covered arcade to the missing parts of the building gave the ensemble the original character of a four-sided courtyard back.

The almost completely decayed part for livestock has been revitalized as the last construction phase. The spacious living, dining and kitchen area has been created under the valuable vaulting on the ground floor. The approximately one and a half meter (5 feet) thick walls with niches and ledges embody security and a cozy atmosphere.

In winter an open wood-burning stove provides additional warmth. The Bluetooth and AUX compatible sound device with a small selection of CDs of classical and contemporary music as well as some reading completes the offer in the living area. The open-plan kitchen is equipped with modern technology and also offers ambitious cooks a good working environment. A five-burner gas stove with extractor fan, the oven, all kinds of useful kitchen utensils, coffee machine, toaster and dishwasher make great cooking look easy. In the dining area, with a large wooden table and versatile crockery, glasses and cutlery for 12 people, there is a counter with bar stools where those not cooking can watch the kitchen while enjoying a good glass.

The accommodation offers two bathrooms with shower and WC: One on the ground floor and one on the upper floor, which includes a washing machine. Three bedrooms for two guests each have been created on the upper floor, the former open hayloft. One of them is very spacious. It consists of the sleeping area on a gallery and a comfortable living area that extends over two floors up to the roof. On two sofa beds, additional sleeping places for guests or children are available on request. A hi-fi system, a small library and many games will banish possible boredom.

The apartment is centrally heated and has hot and cold running water from its own spring. If required, the apartment can be extended by one or two bedrooms. The extension of two bedrooms adds another bathroom with shower and toilet. The holiday flat then offers space for a maximum of 12 guests on over 300 square meters (over 3,250 square foot).

The farm is surrounded by three hectares of land which invites to sports activities or simply to relax. Two terraces with garden furniture and a large table entice you outdoors. A soccer field with goals (45 x 20 meters, 150 x 65 feet) where you can play badminton, speedminton or frisbee is right in front of the house. Additional necessary equipment such as a grill, sunshades and sunbeds are available. Those items can be found in the tuft under the entrance ramp. After having searched for fire material together in the forest, young and old can meet at the open fireplace enjoying a big campfire.

Location and surroundings of object

South Bohemia with the Bohemian Forest is an ancient cultural landscape with beautiful, almost untouched nature and historically significant places. It’s where the Vltava rises and the home of one of the largest nature parks in Europe: Bohemian/Bavarian Forest National Park. Directly adjacent to this, on a 900-metre high mountain range, lies the “Koryto estate” in the village of Koryto. The small hamlet with about forty inhabitants is characterized by its four-sided farmsteads, most of which date back to the time of the imperial and royal monarchy. The administrative town of Prachatice, 19 kilometers away, has several supermarkets, shops and restaurants, a hospital, pharmacies and doctors.

Various walks and hikes lead from the farmstead into the untouched nature. Making use of the train station "Zbytiny", only six kilometers (less than 4 miles) away, as well as using a mountain bike gives you the opportunity to discover even more.

Excursions lead to the nearby cities of Ceske Budejovice and Krumlov, which are of great historical and artistic value. Everywhere in the area there is a rich gastronomy at the level of tasty, simple cuisine. In restaurants, inns, rustic beer taverns or country pubs you can still enjoy a very good price-performance ratio. All year long various cultural events are offered in many nearby places. A particularly recommendable experience is the summer festival in the castle garden of Krumlov.

Hiking in the Bohemian Forest e.g. to the nearby village Ovesné; to the ruin Maidenstein; to the Helfenburg or to the lookout tower Líbin.

Cycling tours along the Vltava river, the Vltava reservoir, the Schwarzenberg alluvial canal or in the Bohemian Lake District around Trebon.

Canoe tours or rafting on the still young Vltava before the reservoir or afterwards from Vyssi Brod via Rosenberg, Krumlov to just before Budweis.

Golfing at Golf Club Hluboka with 27 holes, Golf Club Cesky Krumlov with 18 holes, Golf Resort Pisek with 18 holes.

Tennis courts are located in the neighboring village of Zbytiny and in Prachatice.

Go-carting, sailing, stand up paddling and surfing around Horni Plana on the Vltava reservoir.

Swimming in the outdoor swimming pool Prachatice, 12 km (7.5 miles) away, many natural bathing lakes with beaches nearby.

In late summer, the excellent and rich mushroom district is practically on our doorstep: Chanterelles, autumn trumpets and porcini mushrooms are - because they are unmistakable - on our collection list.

Inexpensive fishing opportunities in many lakes, rivers and ponds (fishing license required).

In winter there are very good possibilities for cross-country skiing near Vimperk and Kvilda (cross-country skiing center); various easy ski areas and lifts within a radius of 30 km (some with floodlights); the Austrian ski area Hochficht with modern lifts and 25 km (15 miles) of slopes is an hour's drive (approx. 50 km (30 miles) away, on the Austrian/Czech border near Nova Pec; the cozy Bavarian ski area Mitterdorf-Philippsreut with 6 lifts is 35 km (22 miles) away.
