Typical Swedish wooden house from 1911 in the southeast of Sweden.
The cottage is situated in a quiet location in Fagerhult (approx. 25 km west of Högsby) in the holiday region of Småland

The cottage
It is connected to the municipal electricity and water network.
The 2400 sqm large property invites you to enjoy & relax.

The house (approx. 60 sqm living space) is bright and friendly and is located in a quiet area on the edge of the village with a beautiful view.

It consists of:
- 2 bedrooms, each with a double bed (these can also be set apart as they consist of 2 single beds). Alternatively, a small room with one bed can be used by arrangement
- A living and dining room, TV (German and Swedish programme), music system, and kitchen with dining table
- In the kitchen there is: Electric cooker/oven, fridge/freezer combination, microwave, coffee machine; toaster, blender, cutlery, crockery, pots etc. .

- A shower and a WC

The tiled stoves and the kitchen witch cannot be used!
Heating is provided by an air-to-air heat pump and the typical Scandinavian electric heaters.
Air conditioning

The garden of approx. 2200 sqm is hardly visible from the neighbourhood. There is comfortable garden furniture, a sun lounger, parasol and hammock. A gas barbecue is of course available for any barbecue fun.

Good to know
I use the house myself during the periods when it is not rented out. For this reason, a few things/areas are not to be used by the tenants.
The house is a non-smoking house!
Pets are not allowed in consideration of allergy sufferers!
Bedding and towels are not provided! Duvets and pillows, however, are.

Location and surroundings of object

The house is situated in a quiet location on the outskirts of the village with a great view of nature

In Fagerhult you can relax far away from the noise of everyday life and enjoy time in nature. The beautifully situated village has a population of 200.
There is a small supermarket in the village where, among other things, you can buy a fishing permit. A rowing boat is available there for about 100 sec per day (as of 2021)

The nearest larger grocery shops (ICA and Coop), indoor swimming pool, bank, medical care (Vard Centtralen), petrol station etc. are in Åseda, approx. 29 km away.

A rowing boat at the idyllic forest lake "Välen", 1 km away, can be rented in the village (approx. 10,- Euro per day).
The lake, with a length of approx. 6 km, can be reached on a beautiful evening walk in approx. 12 minutes (distance 1.2 km).

From Fagerhult you can start beautiful cycling/hiking tours, as it is situated at the edge of the forest, with many branching paths
Every bike ride, every walk becomes a pleasure.
The bathing place is in the immediate vicinity and can be reached in 12 minutes on foot.
There, at a small campsite, is a small sandy beach with a separate area for children. There is also a 3m diving platform.
Snacks are also available there. A cosy, child-friendly, natural place.

The archipelago coast is 60 km away, practically on the doorstep. And if you want to explore Öland or Gotland, you can do so on a nice day out.
The harbour towns of Kalmar (approx. 70 km) and Oskarshamn (approx. 60 km), the university town of Växjö (approx. 65 km) with its cultural offerings, Eksjö (90 km) with its old town, and the glass-blowing factories located in the greater area are also suitable for day trips.

The house has an air - air heat pump. A modern, energy-saving heating method that can also be used as air conditioning in the summer. In addition, there are the usual electric radiators in Sweden.
The two tiled stoves and the kitchen niche may not be used.
Arrival and departure day is Saturday. Other arrangements may be possible by arrangement. Arrival is possible from 16:00 on the day of arrival. Departure should take place by 10:00 a.m. on the last day of the holiday.
In the low season, individual arrival and departure days are also possible by arrangement.

The small print:
The tenant is obliged to inform the landlord immediately of any damage occurring during the rental period.
The house and the property are used by the tenant at his own risk. No liability or warranty is assumed for any items brought along
Claims for damages are excluded.

Great Sweden vacation

We spent two weeks in Fagerhult as a group of four, 2 adults and 2 teenagers, and we enjoyed it very much. Fagerhult is a wonderful, quiet place. You can hike, swim, jog, and search for blueberries and mushrooms. By car, you can quickly reach other lakes and the sea. The house with the spacious garden was just enough for us, and there were no problems; everything worked out fine. We were certainly lucky with the weather as well, with only half a rainy day, otherwise pure Swedish summer. The communication with Mr. Stehrenberg also went smoothly and very well.

Beautiful Swedish cottage

We had a wonderfully relaxing week in the beautiful holiday home in Fagerhult. Everything was very clean, matched the photos and description exactly, and was simply perfect for us: a great cozy living room, well-equipped kitchen, small but fully sufficient bathroom with toilet and shower, and very comfortable beds in the upper bedroom. We were out and about every day and therefore hardly used the garden. The landlord is super nice and was always quick to reach by email for questions and information. We felt very comfortable in his house!

Holiday home

Small cozy vacation house in a quiet location. Clean accommodation and you have everything you need. The landlord was always available. We liked it very much and we would definitely recommend it, because if you like it quiet on vacation, this vacation house is exactly right.

Everything is fine so far.

As already mentioned in the title, everything was fine in summary. The contact with the landlord was nice and helpful in advance. Since we couldn't book through the website (I don't remember the error anymore), we paid for the house directly. The arrival description worked well. The house is typical for the country and partly renovated. The facilities are good, but not outstanding (4 stars).
We rated the location with 3 stars, as one needs to drive quite a bit to get to tourist attractions. Those who only want to go to the lake and stay in the house would see it differently.
We rated the cleanliness with a generous 4 stars, as one should not expect a 5-star hotel for sure. However, the corridor was messy and there was also a broken bicycle in front of the main entrance. Those looking for something to criticize will find even more points here. Unfortunately, the service did not live up to the initial contact mentioned earlier until the end. On the final bill, we had to pay an increased daily flat rate in addition to the electricity bill. When I asked why this was the case, I only received a condescending email. Therefore, only 3 stars for service and value for money. I could write more here, but those who have read up to this point can surely understand our 3.5-star rating.

We clicked "yes" for the recommendation point, as one can have a good time here if aware of the points mentioned above.

Zum Thema „touristische Sehenswürdigkeiten“: Das klingt nun wirklich „Oberlehrerhaft“, aber Deutschland hat die achtfache Bevölkerungszahl auf einer Fläche von 0,36 Mio. km², Schweden hat 0,45 Mio. km². Fazit: in Schweden ist nichts „um die Ecke“ sondern es ist ein Land der großen Entfernungen. Das muss man wissen, wenn man man hier Urlaub machen möchte. Was also hat das mit der „Lage des Hauses“ zu tun?
Zum Thema „Unordnung im Flur“: Es ist ein kleines 100 Jahre altes Haus, ohne Hauswirtschaftsraum oder Keller (in Schweden unüblich – müsste man aus dem Fels sprengen), also landen Dinge wie Staubsauger, Wäscheständer, Hängematten, Gartenliege etc. im sonst ungenutzten Windfang – wo sonst?
Zum Thema „kaputtes Fahrrad vor Haupteingang“: Es stehen 2 nicht fahrbereite alte Fahrräder auf dem Gelände. Grund: Vor zwei Jahren zwecks Dekoration und Belebung des Gartens gekauft.
Muss einem nicht gefallen; mir gefällt es.
Zum Thema „Service und Schlussabrechnung/erhöhte Tagespauschale/oberlehrerhafte Mail“: Der Gast ist leider mit der Buchungsseite nicht zurecht gekommen, und hat dann direkt bei mir gebucht.
1. Stromabrechnung ist Vertragsbestandteil, wieso also überhaupt die Erwähnung?
2. Jedes inserierte Haus wird deutlich sichtbar mit z.B. „ ab 60,- Euro „ angepriesen, also dem generell günstigsten Preis z. B. in der Nebensaison. Der Mieter mietet nun für Anfang August (natürlich Hochsaison) und meint offensichtlich, da er mit der Seite nicht zurechtkommt, dass daraus ein Anspruch auf den Vorsaisonpreis abzuleiten ist. Kein Versuch im Vorwege oder auch im Nachhinein eine Lösung mit dem Vermieter zu suchen, und stellt an Stelle dessen die Nachforderung als unerwartete/ungerechtfertigte „erhöhte Tagespauschale“ dar.
Was hat eine berechtigte Nachforderung mit dem „Service“ und der „Preis/Leistung“ zu tun??
Und dann nach 10 Monaten ohne Nachfrage oder dergleichen solch eine „Bewertung“.
3. Das der Mieter „noch mehr schreiben könnte“, glaube ich ihm unbesehen, denn „wer suchet, der findet“.
