Activities nearby: Schierke is very small, but unique and very charming. A holiday without a car is certainly possible. You can walk to the Brockenbahn train station in just over 10 minutes. You can start your excursions to the Brocken, the Wurmberg or other exciting destinations on designated trails in the immediate vicinity. If you miss something, you can drive to Wernigerode or Braunlage in a few minutes. Mountain bikers can look forward to the area called "Mountainbikeschaukel" between Schierke and the Wurmberg, with tours of different levels of difficulty, steep climbs and beautiful views from the top. In winter, Schierke offers ideal cross-country skiing conditions: some 40 km of trails sometimes reach heights of more than 1,000 meters.
