The Bergerie holiday flat is located in the annex of the main house (a Provençal Mas) with a separate entrance and its own terrace. The mas is situated on a plateau with a view of the Durance valley. The discreet owners live in the main house (no children). The Bergerie was completely renovated in 2018 and has a cosy bedroom, a shower room, a large living room with kitchen as well as a terrace and a large garden area. The lovingly furnished flat has a well-equipped kitchen (also spices , Nespresso machine, etc), the bed in the bedroom (160cm) is made upon arrival. Our guests can also arrive by plane. The equipment also includes travel and hiking guides of the area and the owners are also very happy to provide tips. Books and games are available, as well as a DVD player. German TV channels are available. There is a washing machine in the main house. The house is surrounded by fields and woods and the French-style garden invites you to linger. (the owner is a landscape gardener). In summer the large vegetable garden offers a colourful variety.
The swimming pool measures 3 x 13 m and is only used by the tenants and sometimes by the owners, there is an outdoor shower as well. A bathing lake is 3 km away, the sea can be reached in about 1 hour.

On the terrace there are several seating areas as well as garden loungers with cushions and parasols.

Location and surroundings of object

The apartment is located near the village of Jouques. The typical Provencal village offers beside picturesque houses and alleys, everything what needs, small shops, bakeries, bars On Sunday mornings there is a small market. Further big supermarkets are about 10 minutes away by car. Nearby there are several renowned wineries that invite you to taste their wines. The holiday home is close to the Luberon, there are wonderful excursion destinations with cute villages and great weekly markets. Art and culture can be found in Aix, Marseille, les Beaux de Provence, Avignon .... It is also not far from here to the Camargue (about 1 hour) and to the coast, which offers beautiful beaches and excursion destinations. In summer it is not far to the lavender plateaus and the picturesque bathing lakes. In 40 minutes you can reach the Gorges du Verdon by car or motorbike. It is not far to the montage Sainte Victoire, Cezanne's favourite motif. There are several hiking trails and bicycle routes in the area

The Département Bouches-du-Rhône is located in the west of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region directly on the Mediterranean Sea. To the north, the département of Vaucluse (Avignon) borders the département of Bouches-du-Rhône; to the east, the département of Var (Toulon)

It is this special mixture of tradition, art historical treasures and unique natural landscapes that could not be more diverse. And that's what makes the département so attractive. With the Camargue, it offers an extraordinary landscape that is so very different from what is known from the rest of Provence: a flat region, barren, unspoilt, but a paradise for birds. In the department of Bouches-du-Rhône, however, you will also find wonderful sandy beaches stretching for kilometres, steep-walled coastlines with rugged cliffs and, with the Alpilles, a lovely mountain range where one of the largest olive-growing areas is located. A fascinating variety!

Cities like Arles and Aix-en-Provence offer an incredible cultural and architectural wealth to explore. Time to embark on a little voyage of discovery through the Département Bouches-du-Rhô

Vacation in Paradise

We spent 1 week here, or rather, we were allowed to spend it. The vacation home is part of the entire building, but the owners are considerate and you really only see them if you ask for something. There is nothing lacking in the house, the furnishings are complete! Much is self-designed, but always fitting and very lovingly done. Our favorite spot was the terrace next to the house (covered), but of course, you can also use the other lounging or seating areas. The pool is relatively narrow, but at least 10 meters long, so you can swim your laps nicely.
The garden is a paradise. Extraordinary plants (old varieties) are mixed with modern ones. Chickens, quails, and other small animals live in the garden and are not at all shy. We had our young dog with us, which was not a problem. He had to be on a leash, but the chickens and the dog eyed each other reciprocally. :-). The surroundings are also beautiful, peaceful with a wonderful view of Provence. There is so much good to say that it's hard to mention everything. What we really appreciated was the supply of home-grown tomatoes, peppers, figs, and grapes, for which we thank you very much again. Bernard and Brigitte have not only created a beautiful holiday home in Provence, but have also created a refuge that has so much to offer. We will gladly come back and can only recommend it. Thank you both for the fantastic week.

A dream vacation is guaranteed - pure relaxation

The apartment is furnished in a provincial style with great attention to detail. A well-equipped kitchen makes it easy for self-caterers to prepare more elaborate dishes. Additionally, there is often a basket with seasonal vegetables in front of the entrance door (special thanks to Bernhard :) ). The grounds invite you to relax and enjoy reading days, with several seating and lounging areas to choose from. The hosts live on-site and are happy to provide tips for sightseeing, excursions, and shopping opportunities. They are always available when needed and invisible when peace is desired. A pool provides refreshment on hot summer days. The grounds themselves invite exploration, but there are also numerous beautiful places in the surrounding area that should not be missed, such as. Lourmarin, Aix-en-Provence, Valensole with the lavender fields, or Les Baux de Provence with the light show in the quarries, and Marseille is also easily accessible. Those traveling by car, looking to relax, and who enjoy exploring small towns, villages, and landscapes on vacation will find everything they desire here! Highly recommended!!! We will come back!

We are coming back!!!!

Dear Brigitte, dear Bernard,
we thank you very much for a wonderful holiday with you at the Bergerie. Unfortunately, we had to drive home after two weeks because our vacation time was over. The holiday apartment is uniquely beautiful, the kitchen is perfectly equipped, the rooms are lovingly furnished and decorated, everything is there that ensures a great holiday. In addition, there is the glorious garden, which is almost better described as a park. We could use different seating areas depending on our mood: a covered terrace, a shady spot under a large tree, sun loungers with a sun umbrella, deck chairs for relaxing, and not to forget our absolute favorite spot in the morning before breakfast: the bench next to the front door! In the shade of the vines, we enjoyed our first coffee and let our gaze wander over the wonderful flowers. The rooster and chickens passed by our bench on their morning round. In the small ponds, lilies were swimming and the frogs croaked before they submerged again. A definite highlight is also the fantastic pool: amidst lavender, with a view of Mont St. Victoire, you can swim your laps. On our favorite bench, tomatoes from Bernard's vegetable garden were often waiting for us. All in all, we had a wonderful vacation and returned home with the firm intention of coming back next year. Brigitte and Bernard, we will miss you and the conversations with you very much!

Dream vacation and pure relaxation

Thank you very much to Provonce and especially many heartfelt thanks to Brigitte and Bernard. We had a wonderful vacation. Bernard was always ready for a little chat and gave us valuable tips on where to go to enjoy the beautiful nature. And from the great garden, I gained many inspirations, although unfortunately, due to the weather, I cannot implement everything. But I will simply try things out. The apartment is great, it has everything you need, it is sparkling clean and you feel at home. Since we do not speak French, we thought we wouldn't get along well in France, but the exact opposite has happened, the people are so friendly and helpful. And finally: We will come back, because you don't meet such nice landlords so often.

Kind regards, Jörg and Siegi

A dream

The house has an ideal location to get to know the Provence. Whether you want to walk ten minutes, drive 20 minutes, or take a day trip, there is always something to discover, from the convent on top of the mountain, to Aix, Cucuron and Lourmarin, to the Camargue or Saint-Tropez.

But do you even want to leave? In the huge grounds there is simply everything: trees, meadows, flowers, fruit, vegetables, small ponds, a greenhouse... Something is blooming everywhere, at any time of the year. Bees, bumblebees, and butterflies are happy, the frogs feel comfortable, pretty little chickens and quails are foraging through the grounds, an emerald lizard is sunbathing.

In the pool, you can actually swim properly, surrounded by lavender and with a magnificent view of Montagne Sainte-Victoire, which fascinated Cézanne.

The apartment is very beautiful and lovingly furnished, the kitchen is equipped with everything. And sometimes in the morning, there is already a basket of freshly harvested vegetables from the garden in front of the door, including fantastic tomatoes.

Because - last but absolutely not least - Brigitte and Bernard are not just discreet landlords, but also genuine, warm, great hosts. Thank you for two wonderful weeks, we will be back!

Paradise in nature

The holiday home is beautifully situated on a plateau, in the middle of nature, which has been partly transformed into a wonderful park by the owner Bernard and his wife Brigitte, with a pool, beautiful plants and flowers and a lot of attention to detail. You can relax here on a huge terrace or enjoy the different animals. There are chickens, small fish in several idyllic fountains, also frogs, a turtle, numerous birds and sometimes a few wild deer in the evening.
The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for cooking and baking. You can eat in the kitchen-living room, on a covered terrace or under a walnut tree.
The surroundings could not be more varied. Jouques is a small village with history.
Above the property, a monastery with a small shop is within walking distance. Beautiful poppy fields are in bloom here at the moment, followed later by lavender.
Aix-en-Provence is only fifteen minutes away by car. There are many small and larger towns in the vicinity with wonderful markets.
In addition, the very exceptional Mont Ventoux is within easy reach.
Avignon, the Camargue, the Verdon Gorge or places like Cassis, Marseille or St. Tropez are great destinations.
We were there for the second time and will definitely be back!

What more could you want?

The flat is in a great location and there are so many possibilities for excursions in the area.
It is not far to the sea and we were in Cassis and the Camargue in an hour. We enjoyed the markets, for example Lourmarin. But you are also happy when you come back and can enjoy the wonderful garden and the swimming pool! Thank you very much for the wonderful hours dear B & B. We will be back soon.
