Location and surroundings of object
Résidence du Château de Salles, with its 4-star classification, is located in the largest forest area in Europe, just 40 km from the rugged Bay of Biscay and the hills and valleys of the Bordeaux region with its famous vineyards. The vast forest-natural landscape of Salles offers sunny days, pleasant cool nights and wonderfully clean air. The many lakes and rivers, the beautiful cities, the charming villages, the forests, the vineyards and of course the fabulous beaches offer numerous opportunities for fun trips in the vicinity of our park
Our young, enthusiastic kids club for boys and girls organises fun, exciting activities such as archery, baking cakes and treasure hunts every morning and afternoon during the high season. On and around the park you have various opportunities for sports. In addition, the surrounding area offers almost all sports facilities.
The kids club
Our young enthusiastic kids club boys and girls organize in July and August every morning and afternoon activities such as baking cakes, treasure hunts, clay and many other fun things for children between 4 and 12 years. We have a varied and exciting program, adapted to every age. Everything takes place within the boundaries of our villa park. Of course, we adapt it to changes in the weather or to the wishes of the children. The programme starts on Monday afternoon and ends on Friday afternoon. Our kids team speaks Dutch, French and English.
Safe for children
Résidence du Château de Salles is ideal for families with children. Our villa park is spacious, so there is plenty of room to move around. Because there is a fence around the park to keep the wild boar out of the gardens in winter, small children cannot run away from the park. They can fully cycle and skeleton on the roads within the park, on which only the cars of the residents drive at walking pace.
Around the pool is a fence and there is a special shallow children's pool.
In the vicinity you will find two exciting water parks: Kidparc Aqualand and Aquapark La Coccinelle, both in Gujan Mestras. You can also play paintball in Gujan Mestras at Paintball du Bassin. In addition, there is the beautiful zoo Zoo du Bassin d'Arcachon in La Teste de Buch with white tigers and white lions alongside a wide selection of other exotic animals.
In the area there are a number of beautiful and large lakes (Sanguinet, Biscarosse, Hostens) where your children can swim and windsurf. Along these beaches, in most places the water is shallow over a wide width, making it very suitable and safe for your small children. This also makes learning to surf much less strenuous.
Bird sanctuary of le Teich (21 km)
There is also a bird reserve called "Reserve Ornithologique du Teich". Throughout the year, more than 300,000 migratory birds find shelter in this wetland area. The aim of this park is that wild birds can be observed by visitors at close range. There is a 6 km route for visitors with viewpoints, observation cabins and information boards
Guided tours and tastings at the wine châteaux (30 km)
The Bordeaux region is famous for its wines. The nearest wine regions Pessac-Léognan, Graves and Sauternes are about 30 km from Salles. Saint Emilion must have seen every wine lover and is 85 km away. Between the hilly vineyards are numerous châteaux, where guided tours and tastings are possible
Climbing the highest dune in Europe (34 km)
Dune de Pyla is the highest dune in Europe and you can climb this 117 meter high and 3 km long dune to have a magnificent view over the ocean and the entrance of the Bassin d'Arcachon

Arcachon is a fashionable seaside resort with the beach behind a beautifully planted boulevard. The Bassin d'Arcachon is an inland sea with an area of 250 km2 and is known for its oyster farms. The pool is best explored by boat and there are many different possibilities. Swimming at the bay is pleasant, because there is hardly any wave action.

Golf international d'Arcachon at 34 km is a busy club course and the most beautiful in this area. A less crowded course is the one at Biscarosse at 37 km. This forest track is situated in the dunes and is hilly. Finally there is a second Blue Green track in Pessac at 38 km
Surfing and sailing
