Really quiet and extremely sunny with a wonderful mountain view in an unspoilt location, green meadows all around, traffic-free, at the end of a dead-end street, safe for children, in the walking trail network, near the Schwendeloipe.

Our house is situated in the Kleinwalsertal in Austria in the area of the Allgäuer Alps.
Due to its geographical location, our valley has been economically connected to Germany for over 100 years. The 3 villages Riezlern, Hirschegg and Mittelberg form the community Mittelberg. The first settlers came from the canton of Wallis in Switzerland. The Kleinwalsertal with its approx. 5000 inhabitants covers an area of 97 km². It is about 15 km long and about 6.5 km wide
Encircled by mountains, the valley can only be reached by car via German territory. In order to reach Austrian territory from here, one must either be "good on foot" (over the mountain) or take on an approx. 45 km long car journey. For this reason it has been a customs union area since 1891, in order to relieve the valley population financially. For years the official currency of the Kleinwalsertal was the D-Mark. With the accession to the EU, the associated Schengen Agreement and the changeover to the Euro, the "customs union status" is increasingly losing its significance. In former times the people here lived from agriculture. But tourism has also found its way here and the proverbial Walser hospitality helps to create an all-round pleasant atmosphere for the guest
Kleinwalsertal is divided into the villages of Riezlern, Hirschegg, Mittelberg and Baad
In the centre you will find shopping facilities, restaurants, ski schools and ski rental. Ideal starting point for hikes and walks. You can easily reach the ski lifts and ski schools.
