Description

Säby Perstorp is located in a fairy-tale forest – the area, extremely hilly for Småland, with often steep climbs, winding paths, here and there interspersed with ancient stone walls and always close to lakes, is gnarled, lonelier than other parts of Småland, enchanted and unique, it reminds many of Värmland – simply fabulous!

On about 3000 sqm of land there are blueberries, lingonberries, currants, gooseberries, raspberries, apples, and pears. In autumn, the forest is strewn with chanterelles and porcini mushrooms, which are called Carl Johann here (after the old Swedish king who loved these mushrooms). We have an old maple and a huge pine.

The neighboring house is only vaguely visible from the back part of the garden (about 150 meters), it is the only one in a wide area and: the access road is used only by the neighbor (when he is there – it is only his summer house) and us/ you … the peace is overwhelming! Whereby: sometimes this is “disturbed” by the sheep grazing around the house (they belong to Anki from Bråten). Believe us: it’s wonderful to have sheep around you. The animals, with cautious curiosity, like to come right up to the fence and let themselves be petted.

Our Säby Perstorp was built in the late 1800s and, before us, was mostly only lived in on the ground floor. We have converted and renovated the attic with much love. Come along on a house tour:

You enter Perstorp through the side entrance with vestibule built in 1949 and stand in a square hallway from which the bathroom with shower and toilet leads off. Through the door to the left, you enter the eat-in kitchen, which is equipped with a modern fridge-freezer combination (new in 2018), microwave (new in 2018), electric kettle (new in 2018), coffee machine, toaster (new in 2018), cooking stove (a wood-fired stove – when we took over the house we wanted to throw it out... how stupid we were: that thing is brilliant, you can easily get the oven up to 300 degrees, pizza from this oven is so much better than from the usual electric thing, during the transitional season the big white one heats the whole kitchen, we will never give it away again!) ), electric stove with ceramic cooktop and convection (new in 2019), both built into an old chimney, table, chairs and bench for 8 people, and a plentiful complete set of pots, pans, plates, cutlery, glasses, and whatever else. The lower bedroom also leads off from the kitchen, equipped with a double bed (2x90x200), nightstands, dresser, old kitchen stove, but also 2 electric heaters for the transitional season – ideal for elderly guests or young folks who may want a bit more privacy.

Straight ahead is the approximately 30 m² living room. Here you’ll find the dining table with 6-8 chairs, a (sofa-)bed (1-2 people), 2 armchairs, arranged directly in front of the most important spot … the large, open fireplace. Oh yes ... we also have a TV with German satellite channels and a DVD player (2019), discreetly hidden! In our reading corner, among other things, you will find - as permanent titles - Glennkill and Garou, the sheep crime novels by Leonie Swan, and as already in Herrafällan, Tomte Tummetott. Since May 2022, we have had an air heat pump in the living room. From the living room you enter the rear hallway, which has another door to the kitchen and to the downstairs bedroom, and through the old entrance on the left you reach the front garden.

Hidden in the kitchen is our cupboard staircase to the upper floor. Here, under the two sloping roofs, are the Tomte room (a bed for 1-2 people 100x200, a bunk for a child or adolescent 80x180) on the left and the Elk room (a bed for 1-2 people 120x200 and a bunk for a child or adolescent 80x180) on the other side, in between the approximately 15 m² Baroque room with double bed (2x90x200), nightstands, sofa, and fireplace. All mattresses and duvets are NEW. And then there is the approximately 35 square meter common room – here you’ll find a brand new foosball table (2019), a tournament dartboard, and a game table with 6 chairs.

In front of the house is our shed; behind the first door from the path you’ll find the firewood, and the 6 bicycles serviced at the start of the season are also kept here.

A little off to the side, to the right of the house and practically in the middle of the sheep pasture, stands the old washhouse, which was used for years as a chicken coop. Here you will find our new sauna along with a relaxation room (due to the building’s construction, it stays pleasantly cool near the ground; during the construction phase, we liked to take breaks there on hot days).
Our yellow canoe is next to the sauna.
Please bring roof racks for the vehicle and tie-down straps.
Paddles and life jackets for kids are in the shed.

The sauna has benches at 2 heights and a small lounger.
For the dedicated (hardy) sauna-goers, there is a loft.
The Harvia 36 (kW! ) The oven heats the sauna to 100 degrees with half a load and the nearly 70 kg of stones (from the sheep pasture) retain the heat for a long time.

Super great Sweden holiday

Beautiful house in a great location. Often had visits from the forest animals. The children were able to really let loose and make full use of the play opportunities. Super nice landlords who rescued us in our time of need. Would come back anytime, really enjoyed the house, the peace, and the landscape.

Comfort in the forest

This house exudes a lovely, warm coziness standing in the middle of the forest. The interior is kept in an old style and provides some insights into life here in earlier days. Outside, there is a child-friendly, spacious garden with plenty of space to play. There is also a place for making a bonfire. Overall, everything is great and suitable for families with children.

Beautiful cozy house in the countryside

We felt very comfortable in this house. We had everything we needed. Many games are available to keep busy even in bad weather. For the little ones, there are many books to look at and read. The foosball table was extensively used.
The garden is big enough to make a bonfire and play soccer and Viking chess at the same time.

Enchanting Perstorp

My husband, I, and our adult daughters spent a fantastic week in Perstorp in April. As soon as we entered, we felt at home. Nothing was missing, and sitting by the fireplace with a glass of wine after long outings was simply wonderful. The communication with Cajus and Kolja was always smooth and very pleasant. We can only recommend the holiday home and would love to come back.

Mr. C. Mahlke

Mr. C. Mahlke

Cajus has owned a house in Småland since 1985, where he spends many weeks every year and where his children spent a large part of their childhood, and now the grandchildren also come regularly. He has many years of experience in renting out holiday homes. Kolja also spent a lot of time in Sweden with his parents during his childhood holidays and has now been enjoying his holiday time together with his family in a house nearby for almost 15 years and works for a Swedish company. We both love the country, the people, the beautiful nature, the lovely red houses, the peace and closeness to nature. In 2016, we decided to look together for a rental property that, based on all our experiences, would meet our own requirements for a relaxing holiday in southern Sweden. Due to various spam calls, we have deleted our telephone numbers here - please use the contact form to contact us for the first time. Thank you very much.
