Around Austria's southernmost bathing lake - Lake Faak - everyone can be active or relax: whether hiking in spring, summer, autumn, and winter through the idyllic landscape with its magnificent panorama; Nordic walking in the Nordic Fitness Sports Park Faaker See (TM); in the Kanzianiberg climbing garden; on one of the many cycling routes around Lake Faak or... on one of the new MTB trails at Lake Faak – or doing water sports, because Lake Faak is a true paradise for water sports enthusiasts.
In summer, the Carinthian bathing lake reaches temperatures of up to 28°C.
However, those who prefer to be in the mountains will take the Karawanken with the Mittagskogel, the Dobratsch, the Dreiländereck, the Gerlitzen, the Verditz, the Carnic and the Gailtal Alps into their hearts. In addition, our surrounding mountains offer perfect views of the Rosental and the Faaker See holiday region. Naturally, our Carinthian holiday region in the south also offers the right program for culture enthusiasts. Geographically, Lake Faak lies at the intersection of three cultures (Carinthia, Slovenia, and Italy): Here, atmospheric and unusual festivals are celebrated – such as the high-caliber musical delights of the international festival "Carinthian Summer" in the baroque Ossiach Abbey Church and in the modern Congress Center Villach, at open-air events high above Lake Faak in the Finkenstein Castle Arena, at the traditional Villach Fair, when visiting sights and exhibitions, or when participating in creative courses, and much more. The sunny south of Austria offers everyone spending their vacation here a choice: whether to head towards the mountains, culture, sports, or endless swimming fun at Lake Faak.
But even in winter, the Karglhof is not far from the ski slopes, cross-country trails, toboggan runs, ice skating rinks, snowshoe hiking opportunities, and much more.
You can go skiing on the Gerlitzen, the Dreiländereck, Kranjska Gora, Monte Lussari, Nassfeld, etc. In the ski areas, ski courses are also offered for young and old.
The ski bus departs from our main building and also brings you back from the family ski areas Gerlitzen and Dreiländereck.
You are also welcome to take the S2 from Faak am See train station to Gerlitzen (travel time approx. 20 min.).
Of course, our sleds are also available for you to use for great toboggan rides. Ice skating on the nearby Aichwaldsee is of course also a great experience, as are snowshoe hikes and cross-country skiing on the nearby trails.
THE WAY TO KARGLHOF:
Take the A2 motorway and exit at Villach - Faaker See. Then turn left towards Faaker See. In Drobollach (approx. in the middle of the village) you must turn right towards Faak am See. When you arrive in Faak am See, drive through the center of the village. Then you can already see (approx. 200m away) our main building on the right side.
A very distinctive feature is that there is a small bell tower on the roof of the house.
Another quite useful hint: The main building is located opposite the Faak am See tourist information, where the post office, bank, and police are also located.
