In this extensively restored holiday home, which is in keeping with the preservation order, you will find plenty of space, comfort, atmosphere and tranquillity. The city refugee is offered ideal conditions to leave noise and hectic behind and to find harmony with oneself and a picturesque landscape on walks through fields and forests and on the lakes. The barn at Grünheider Str. 8 was built in clinker brick at the beginning of the last century as an outbuilding of the former bakery in the main house. It served as a stable for pigs, cows and horses for the baker families who ran a small farm alongside their trade, and the floor was used to store hay and straw. A few years ago, we decided to reclaim the floor space as a versatile room. The roof was thermally insulated, windows were installed and a floorboard was laid. Subsequently, the ground floor was also renovated and equipped with a bathroom/WC, kitchen and separate bedroom, thus making the whole building usable as a guest house. During this work, care was taken to preserve the special flair and character of this building. For this purpose, mainly ecological and historical building materials such as loam, old floorboards etc. were used. The supplementary windows were made according to the original cast iron windows, restraint in the installation of new functional things in the sanitary area and the preservation of many details contribute to the extraordinary atmosphere of the barn. The cottage has its own driveway from the road and a separate small courtyard.
In front of the stable barn, there is space for sitting, reading and eating next to a rock garden. The courtyard in front of the main house can also be used on request. A campfire place, a table tennis table, deck chairs under the lime tree are inviting. A large idyllic garden follows the courtyard in the direction of the field. A small stream flows through the orchard meadow, which is tended by our sheep. Our vegetable garden follows in the direction of the field. The village of Melzow is located in a scenic part of the Uckermark, which is widely protected and around Melzow is a nature reserve. It lies roughly halfway between the towns of Angermünde, Templin and Prenzlau. The village has about 200 inhabitants and is a popular destination for holidaymakers, cyclists and hikers due to its exquisite location. On the one hand, it is elevated on the eastern "ridge" of the Uckertal, on the other hand, it is embedded between beech forests and countless small and larger lakes of an undulating to hilly terminal moraine landscape. Melzow is easy to reach via the nearby railway station in Warnitz and via the motorway, yet it is somewhat remote, so there is practically no through traffic. Melzow has a historically grown, closed development as if from a single mould. The numerous former craftsmen's farms with attached small farms for self-sufficiency, formerly of half-timbered construction, are still recognisable and preserved in many places. .
