The accommodation consists of 1 cottage with 2 bedrooms, three small open plan apartments and 2 en-suite bedrooms. All have panoramic views over the lake, while the Tower room has a private balcony and the Courtyard room opens onto the fountain and barbeque area, which is of course for the use of guests. Apartment details: Double occupancy East apartment has two singles and a sofa bed suitable for a child. West apartment has two singles and can accommodate an extra single foldaway bed only for a child Central apartment has two singles and a sofa bed suitable for a child or teenager. Stoves run on gas. There is a gas fridge for use by guests in the apartments only. Upon arrival guests will inspect the accommodation and if they like it will be asked to pay the balance of the money. Basic provisions ready for them on arrival – bread, butter, milk, jam, and of course a bottle of wine! Bedsheets are changed once per week and towels every third day. General facilities details Rooms details: Double occupancy. A single foldaway bed can be provided for children. Each bathroom has a sink, toilet, bidet and shower/bath. Windows or doors are fly screened so you can leave them open at night. Ample wardrobe space. For those staying in the rooms only breakfast is placed in the courtyard for you so you can eat when you rise. It consists of: fresh rolls and butter, jams, flasks of hot water with tea and coffee, sugar and milk, together with fruit such as oranges, apples or bananas. Cereals are provided for children.

The Lakeside house is indeed right beside a large fresh water lake called ‘Bravura’ - the wild lake. Situated on a hillside looking towards the mountains of Monchique the property lies in an area of eucalyptus forest and hills that stretches as far as you can see. The water temperature is far warmer than the ocean, and we have been drinking it for 20 years without coming to harm. There are no dangerous animals or fish in the lake, so it is safe for children UNDER PARENTAL SUPERVISION.

The surrounding countryside allows for many activities beside the walking you can do from the house. There is a riding stable ten minutes away, and both the sheltered south coast and the wilder west coast are easily accessible. The nearest golf courses are 15 minutes away, there is a small aerodrome which offers micro light flights nearby, and the Marina in Lagos has boats for every imaginable activity such as dolphin watching, deep sea fishing and parascending. Diving, tennis, mountain biking, sea kayaking, bird watching, blow karting or trail biking – these and a host of other activities can be pursued in the Lagos area. We are gradually becoming more eco oriented. At present the house runs from a generator which provides power in the evening up to 10 p.m. It’s like a good safari camp! We hope by next year to have a whole ‘green’ installation in place with solar panels, solar water heaters and wind turbines. Then the generator will only be used for emergencies and high consumption utilities such as power cleaners and washing machines.minimum rental
