This little modern studio is situated on the border of the Bairro Alto in a quiet residential area. The hilly street provides impressive views to the river and of the bridge crossing it.
All the bars and restaurants of Bairro Alto are easily accessible by foot and the main gay area is here.
The owner loves New York and has designed the apartment in a modern colourful style decorated with colourful objects.
This 1'st floor flat seems cool and pleasant in the summer. A floor fan for further cooling is also available.
A small supermarket is on the corner and a lovely bakery with a coffee bar is around the corner on the road above.
Town and location of object

The 400 year old Bairro Alto area largely survived the earthquake of 1755. As it’s name indicate this part of town is situated on one of Lisbons 7 hills offering wonderful views of the city and of the river Tejo.
The area is relatively quiet at day – even more so that almost all cars have been banished from the area. Kids play ball in the street while old ladies chat and hang out the laundry.
At night it’s another story. Every weekend thousands of revellers cram into these narrow streets, hopping from bar to bar.
The Bairro Alto also have Lisbon’s largest collection of fado houses – 20 or so – which seems to have been there forever. Café Luso on Travessa de Quimada is Lisbon’s oldest.
This part of town also houses the city’s greatest selection of gay bars and clubs.
Lisbon , Lisboa , Portugal
Lisbon sits on the north bank of the Rio Tejo, 15 km from the Atlantic Ocean, nestling beautifully among seven small hills - each with miradouros (vantage points) that offer wonderful views of the city and the river.
Lisbon's long experience of contact with other cultures in the form of exploitation, exchange, or a messy combination of the two, has marked it deeply. And after the transformations and migrations of recent years, a capital that centuries ago was a world city - perhaps the first of it's kind - is finally becoming one again.
The party part of Lisbon is called Bairro Alto - dotted with Fado bars, restaurants and interesting little shops with fashion and design.
Baixa is the posh city centre with elegant squares, streets and avenues and a lot of pedestrian shopping and café life.
