Travel guide Psakoudia
Psakoudia: A vacation destination with good connections
Psakoudia is a small coastal town with a charming beach and an attractive hinterland. The fastest way to reach your holiday home or apartment from a private owner is via Thessaloniki Airport. The travel time from the airport to your accommodation is about 90 minutes. The nearest larger towns are Ormylia (7 km) and
Chalkidiki(30 km). Because of the numerous hiking trails in the hilly landscape, a holiday home or private apartment is also very suitable for a
hiking vacation in Psakoudia.
Fantastic sunny days
Psakoudia is located on the Chalkidiki peninsula, which the Greeks call the "feet" peninsula because of its extensions. The summer months of June to September are recommended for a
beach vacation in Psakoudia. Although average temperatures in July and August are over 30 degrees, the dry weather makes them enjoyable. In October, temperatures drop to around 20 degrees and the sun still shines up to six hours a day - ideal conditions for a perfect vacation.
Refined preparation and well-seasoned
The dishes in the
Chalkidiki Macedonia region are known for their sophisticated preparations. Local herbs and spices such as coriander and cinnamon give the dishes a delicious aroma. Due to the proximity to the sea, there are also numerous fish dishes. In addition to the Greek salad with cucumber and tomatoes, Tsatziki is one of the most popular specialties in the area around your private vacation rental. You should definitely try the sheep's cheese salad (Chtipiti), eggplant salad (Taramaslata), and stuffed vine leaves. While Greeks like to serve a diluted Anise Schnaps (Ouzo) before the meal, they often drink beer with the main course. As a conclusion, we recommend you a Greek Mokka. In the afternoon, the pastry shops offer incredibly delicious pastries and cakes that are definitely worth a sin.
Psakoudia offers a colorful family vacation bouquet
A privately-owned vacation apartment or a large vacation home with a pool is ideal for a vacation with the whole family. The miles-long, fine sandy beach has everything needed for an unforgettable seaside vacation in Psakoudia or the neighboring town of
Gerakini. Turquoise sea water, a wonderful view of the Turtle Island and the first finger of Chalkidiki, and a gently sloping beach provide unforgettable moments for both children and adults. As everywhere in Greece, hospitality knows no bounds in Psakoudia. In all private vacation rentals and vacation houses, children are welcome and warmly welcomed.
Greece's natural beauties
Chalkidiki is located on the Greek mainland and consists of three so-called fingers. They are called Kassandra, Sithonia, and Athos and have their own cultural and scenic characteristics. The beaches of all three areas are among the most beautiful in Greece. Another highlight is the lagoon of
Vouvourou. The natural beauties also extend to Psakoudia. The beaches of the Peloponnese peninsula, the enchanting hinterland, and the warmth of the people are the cherry on top of your trip. Located on the western finger of Chalkidiki, you have the opportunity to visit several sights. A popular destination is the Petralona caves, located in the southwest of the Kassandra peninsula, near Mount Katsika. There is an ancient temple from the 4th century BC at Kalithea on the east coast. The temple is dedicated to the god Ammon and is located directly by the sea. The Polygros Museum exhibits various excavation finds from 1970. If you have more time, visit the Athos peninsula, although only part of it is publicly accessible, and the other part is strictly Orthodox. Bejeweled with monastic villages, monastic cells, and monasteries, a mystical charm is present here, from which no one can escape. The Monastic Republic is considered a preserver of Byzantine culture and art and is an important Orthodox pilgrimage site. In the libraries, there are exceptional cultural treasures, such as icons, manuscripts, and valuable mosaics to admire. Unfortunately, women are not allowed; male visitors can enter only in limited numbers.
