In the mid-80s, we bought our plot of land, which is uniquely situated 300 m above the Gulf of Volos and is affectionately called "Balkoni" by the locals. Already in the first year we planted fruit and deciduous trees, knowing that a property lives with greenery and shade
There are two houses on the approx. m² plot, the holiday house and another one which we occupy ourselves
The holiday house is about 80 m², has two terraces, one of which is at the edge of the property. There the property breaks off almost 20 m vertically. You stand above the village of Afete, looking down over olive groves to the entire Pagasitikos. Due to this location you are alone, enjoy almost absolute peace and quiet, no neighbouring houses and yet only a few minutes walk from the village square, the Platia. Location and surroundings of object
The altitude of approx. 300 m offers a fantastic view over the entire Gulf of Volos. The m² plot offers peace and freedom. No noise, except for the two houses (one of which we occupy ourselves) no neighbouring house in the immediate vicinity and yet only five minutes walk from the centre of the village, the Platia. Within a day trip you can reach the historic cities of Delphi, Meteora, Veria. The excavations of Sesklo and Anchialos are on your doorstep
Volos, with its 160,000 inhabitants, was the starting point of the Argonauts. It is a harbour town with everything that goes with it

Plus- en minpunten
Prima weekje gehad in deze accommodatie met complete uitrusting en met een mooie ligging.
Aandachtspunten :
- Woning wordt voorgesteld als geschikt voor 4 volwassenen, echter 2e slaapkamer was o.i. meer geschikt voor kinderen.
- Volgens omschrijving is woning geschikt voor minder validen, maar dat kan problemen opleveren door diverse trapjes
- Onjuiste omschrijving nabijheid supermarkt en restaurant (meer dan paar minuten lopen!)
- Huis was beslist niet schoon, tarief schoonmaakkosten EUR 65 daarom discutabel.

Dreamlike holiday
We spent wonderful days on the Pelion in the Balkoni holiday home. The very clean and perfectly equipped holiday home is located in the middle of a beautiful garden. We wanted for absolutely nothing. Two terraces invite you to linger comfortably - one for romantic evenings with a magnificent view over the Pagasitic Gulf, another directly at the house perfect for breakfast in the sun. Mr and Mrs Stotzka are great hosts who know a lot about life on the Pelion and have good recommendations for hikes, beaches and good tavernas in the region. We felt completely comfortable and will definitely be back.

Surprising holiday
Yes, Greece was a surprise for the 4 of us, Pelion an insider tip. What an overwhelming landscape that offers everything, wonderful beaches, mountains, serpentines and wonderful, warm-hearted people. Just like the landlord couple Stotzka. Therefore, we would like to thank them for their generous hospitality, their selfless help in solving a problem and the many excursion tips that we were able to successfully implement. we will fondly remember the joint barbecue evening, the delicious rose wine and tsipouro. We would recommend the holiday home to others with a clear conscience.

Remote view
The holiday home is located on the edge of a tiny village and is ideal for people who are looking for peace and quiet and do not need any holiday entertainment. Everything is clean and tidy, and from the terrace you have a breathtaking view over the bay, which appears in a different light almost every hour. With a rental car you can visit surrounding towns and villages. With full occupancy, the price/quality ratio is good, the care by the owners is very warm and caring
There are signposted hiking trails in the area, but in many places they have already been reclaimed by nature. The place is surrounded by bush land and olive groves, the forest fell victim to a fire years ago. The sea is close by and has several beaches that are almost deserted, at least in the off-season. On the eastern side of the Pelion there are several old villages with huge plane trees. One disadvantage is the relatively long way to Tessaloniki airport.

Rest and relaxation
My wife and I had wonderfully relaxing vacation days at 'to Balkoni'. Our expectations, which were already high due to the information on this webpage, have been exceeded in terms of the location, facilities, and cleanliness of the vacation apartment, as well as the friendliness of the owners. We immediately felt at home and received a lot of useful information from the landlords during pleasant conversations. We would warmly recommend 'to Balkoni' to our friends at any time. As experienced travelers to Greece, we can recommend the Pelion to anyone who wants to spend a peaceful vacation away from mass tourism and its "blessings" in a beautiful Mediterranean landscape. A home in the south
This great holiday will stay in our memories for a long time. We spent wonderful days in the middle of a dreamlike and natural landscape in a very quiet and beautiful location. In the evening, you can walk to the idyllic village square in just a few minutes and sit comfortably at the tables of two taverns together with many Greeks and a few other holidaymakers. Mr. and Mrs. Stotzka looked after us very lovingly, were always available with help and advice and left us and our children wanting for nothing.
The house is completely furnished. The barbecue on the terrace has conjured up many a delicacy for us and with a glass of Mr Stotzka's excellent wine on the viewing platform with a view over the gulf, many eventful days have come to an end.

very beautiful house in a wonderful environment
In the Balkoni on the wonderful Pilion one simply has to feel comfortable.
The house is cozy and situated on a very beautiful property with oleander flowers and trees.
In the kitchen, which is equipped with a lot of crockery, self-made oil and vinegar, and everything you need, one feels like cooking even on vacation.
On the cozy terrace in front of the house, there is a nice grill, and you can relax and unwind with a good glass of homemade wine.
From another terrace with sun loungers, you have a wide view of the village of Afete, the sea, and the gulf all the way to Volos.
The very nice landlords are always helpful and can give many tips to get to know Pilion better and find beautiful beaches.
We have already been to this house seven times and have spent beautiful hours, including pleasant conversations, good food, and delicious wine, with the landlords.
If you are looking for peace and relaxation in a beautiful environment with all the comforts, BALKONI is highly recommended.

What an idyll...
....in such a beautiful region, the Pelion. The Balkoni is located on a small hill, with a wonderful view over the village of Afete and the sea. The location couldn't be better. The peace and quiet was a pure delight in the otherwise hectic world that one likes to escape from. The interior of the house is very appealing and far above the normal standard. A superbly equipped kitchen with more than enough dishes, glasses, etc. It's a lot of fun to cook here or grill on the cozy, shady terrace, while enjoying a delicious drop of wine and simply enjoying the time. You can also go out and eat deliciously in the small tavernas, a culinary delight is guaranteed, thanks to the great tips from the owners. The landlord couple is very helpful with all imaginable questions. This has helped us a lot and has made our silver wedding trip something very unique and special. We came as strangers and left as friends. A heartfelt thank you for everything and lots of love to you both.

dream vacation
We almost forgot to thank Mrs. and Mr. Stotzka for this dream vacation in Pelion. The holiday home on a beautiful and lovingly landscaped property is very nice and fulfills all desires. But especially we would like to thank our hosts once again for their warm welcome, their hospitality, helpfulness and the many tips that made this vacation so beautiful and relaxing for us. The season (early/mid-May) and the beautiful weather made everything even more perfect. We will always associate Pelion with the scent of mint, thyme, broom, and much more. A frank word in advance: Pelion is predominantly a natural area, our property is located in absolute tranquillity! The house is equipped with all comforts and fully integrated into the scenic wild beauty of the Pelion and its style. If you are looking for a holiday with noisy offers, you are in the wrong place. in 1988, we had our small house - called Balkoni by the villagers because of its location - built above the small mountain village of Afete. About 300 m above the sea, you can enjoy a fantastic view over the Gulf of Volos from the terrace. Even in the summer months, there is always a light breeze here, which keeps the evenings and nights at pleasant temperatures. The approx. 4500 m² large, detached property is within 5 minutes walking distance from the centre of the village, the Platia. Except for a few weeks a year, we live here all the time, so we can look after our guests and give them advice.
