Guest reviews of our holiday apartments in California

September 2026

1 Full Bed | ADA/RI Shower/Micfridge

Lake Shasta

Appreciated the fast check in and friendly staff. The room was decent, had everything I needed. They even had a microwave for snacks which was a plus. Location is convenient too, close to some attractions like the Ogden Eccles Conference Center. Overall, it met my needs just fine.

Lake Shasta

Nice pool area offered fun for family time while being close enough if I wanted to just chill out myself afterwards too! Definitely added value during our short trip over summer holidays this year as well!

1 King Bed|Non-Smoking

Mendocino

Your web site show a apartment building with very clean and modern furnishing. When we arrived it was a 50 year old budget motel that had seen better days. At check-in I asked about the apartment, and they had no idea what I was talking about, but you had secured a room in their motel. I was told it was the smallest room available and was charged by you more than if I had gone thru them. I plan to leave negative reviews with yelp and google. The fact that the name on the reservation was 'King Bed, No Smoking' instead of Motel 6, indicates your deceptive practice was intentional

What do you need to experience in California?

These Attractions in California Are a Must-See

From your vacation home in California, you can explore wonderful landscapes and interesting metropolises. Many affordable vacation homes are very comfortably equipped and offer air conditioning, multiple bedrooms, and high-quality equipment. For a vacation with a pool in the USA, you don't necessarily need to rent a beach house. This “luxury” is practically standard in the charming homes in California. Be sure to visit the following attractions: The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the now-defunct high-security prison Alcatraz, and the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego. Numerous national parks offer opportunities for hiking and excursions into nature. An impressive spectacle awaits you in Redwood National Park. Here, gigantic redwood trees line the paths. Some are more than 100 meters tall and form interesting shapes with their roots, which are a great attraction for photographers. In Lassen Volcanic National Park, hot springs and geysers are the main attractions. Smokestacks, colored dunes, and waterfalls complete the unique landscape. In the east of California lies Death Valley. Fascinating craters, plains strewn with salt chunks, and colorful sediments combine to form a wild, romantic landscape. Here lies Badwater, the lowest point on the North American mainland at 86 meters below sea level. In the national parks, you can hike, ride, bike, and in some places, also camp.

Recommendations for Dining

Californian cuisine long had a reputation for being straightforward with simple, healthy dishes. This trend has evolved towards a sophisticated cuisine with fine specialties. You can find fresh fish, oysters, and seafood of impressive quality by the sea. The influences of French, Italian, and Mexican cuisine are unmistakable. You don't necessarily have to visit Michelin-starred restaurants to enjoy delicious pizza, fresh vegetables, or tender steaks. All around the Bay Area near San Francisco, in Santa Barbara or Santa Cruz, you will find inviting small eateries that delight their visitors with culinary treats - perfect for a beach vacation in California. Californian wines are highly recommended. Their grapes are sun-kissed and produce an aromatic and intoxicating sweetness.

How do I come to California?

Your Arrival at the Vacation Home in California

To get to California, flying is the most comfortable and quickest option. You can travel comfortably with an international airline and will likely have a layover in Washington or Florida. When booking and entering the country, pay attention to the current regulations to start your vacation relaxed and safely. For traveling within the country, it is advisable to rent a car. For a longer stay, you might consider buying a vehicle and then selling it at the end of your trip. If you prefer not to fly, you can book a sea passage. However, this takes about a week, and you will need additional time to cross the country from the East Coast. This way, you can combine a vacation in an affordable privately-owned vacation home in California with a USA tour.
