Recommended holiday home - We felt comfortable.

Very family-friendly atmosphere, with a large garden where our children could play wonderfully, a picturesque landscape with a view of the Karawanks. The holiday home is quiet without through traffic, yet everything important is quickly and easily accessible. We ate well at the Urbani Wirt on Lake Ossiach, which offers delicious Carinthian cuisine. Thanks to the Arnold family, the rental went smoothly.

A typical specialty is the Carinthian Kasnudel. The pasta dough is filled with a mixture of curd cheese, potatoes, and fresh herbs. Almost every household has its secret recipe. In this context, the so-called Krendeln is important. In this culinary art form, the Kasnudel is sealed in such a way that it holds tight while looking particularly appealing. This cheese delicacy consists of boiled curd cheese, mixed with caraway seeds and butter. If you prefer something heartier, you can taste Frigga (considered a lumberjack dish, with melted mountain cheese, onions, bacon, and eggs), Maischelen (finely chopped pig's lung, fried in lard), or the stew Ritschert (made from beans, rolled barley, sage, lovage, and smoked meat). Winegrowing also plays a major role in Austria. Over 30 grape varieties are currently approved for the production of quality and predicate wine in the country.
