Swimming also plays a major role during the holiday season in Fonyód. The gradually deepening sandy bottom of the Lake Balaton coast is ideal for all holiday guests, but the locals and the surrounding area also enjoy taking a dip in the rapidly warming coastal waters. To the delight of guests with pets, there is also a separate beach for dogs in Fonyód.
Pier: The 464 metre long breakwater pier offers the longest and most beautiful view of the coast of Lake Balaton and was built in 1906. With the harbour and adjacent event spaces, shops and restaurants, it forms a defining part of today's Fonyód. In summer there is also a mini amusement park with a Ferris wheel. And you can see many high-calibre performances on the open-air stage.
Viewpoints: You can enjoy the beautiful panorama of Lake Balaton from both viewpoints in Fonyód.
Market: The largest market on the southern shore of Lake Balaton takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays to the delight of Fonyód's locals and visitors.

Tolles Haus mit Handicap
A great house with unfortunately small flaws. We booked for one week (2 adults and 3 children). The handover was flawless, the owners (who have a house next door) were very friendly and accommodating. The house has good, solid equipment. Plenty of space with 3 bedrooms and a spacious living room and kitchen. The 2 bathrooms were also fine. However, with the 7 remote controls for the TV and various other components, imagination is required. However, the pool must be criticized, as the cleaning system only removes surface dirt. The dirt at the bottom is not removed and unfortunately accumulates day by day.
A WLAN access point is mounted directly next to the pillow of one of the children's rooms. When we turned it off for the night, we were politely informed the next morning that the WLAN should be kept on for the owners' work purposes. Unfortunately, the house is located directly next to the train tracks, which are frequented by trains around the clock (even at night). One feels it 100%. Either one must close all windows at night, or one will experience a relatively high level of noise pollution. Also, the dogs that wander around the neighboring garden at night and loudly bark at any movement make a restful sleep almost impossible. Apart from the soaked mattresses in all 3 bedrooms, the house is in good condition. We were disappointed by the owners on the day of departure, when they charged 5000 forints for a broken sunbed during the handover. The sunbeds are used and show signs of wear and tear over time. Therefore, anyone using the sunbeds must expect to pay for damages in case of any. Besides, the remaining 3 sunbeds are about to...

Very beautiful house in a prime location
Pro: very beautiful and well-maintained property in a prime location
Con: what is totally unacceptable is that the house is equipped with video cameras where one is monitored by the owner without any announcement (violation of privacy). Unfortunately, visitors are also not allowed on-site, which I find very regrettable. We were only allowed to meet our Hungarian relatives outside of the property! The house is advertised here with air conditioning, of which we were not aware since we were not informed about it. With temperatures close to 40 degrees, the house quickly became unbearably warm in the bedrooms (upstairs). A maximum occupancy of eight people is also stated here with four bedrooms. During our fourteen-day stay, we found three days at home. The glasses in the kitchen should be restocked, as wanting to drink water at the same time for six, we had to buy plastic cups at the supermarket, which we also used as toothbrush cups. Basic items like a toaster or a decent coffee machine were not to be found in this house. Simple things like egg spoons and egg cups were also not available. It was unreasonable to provide a single coffee machine (which was hopelessly calcified) for a maximum of eight people. Breakfast had to be taken in stages as the coffee machine needed twenty minutes for two cups before descaling. For charging so much money, a higher standard should be provided! ! ! ! ! ! ! For over three thousand euros in fourteen days, one can certainly expect more. Nevertheless, I recommend the house for its top location and beautiful pool.
