Description
The Garyfalliá house was built of natural stone in the 1870s and served as a residential and farm building for several generations. Now it has been given a new purpose. We have converted it into a spacious and cosy holiday home with large, bright rooms made of traditional and modern building materials that keep the summer heat outside. We have been able to preserve many details from the everyday life of the builders or they fulfil more contemporary functions.
With two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a living room, a lounge and a huge garden with a large pool and numerous cosy spots, the house offers space for 4 to 6 people. The luxurious furnishings leave nothing to be desired.

Location and surroundings of object
Listaros
Our tranquil village has 20 inhabitants and is located just 8 kilometres from the beach. Fortunately, you won't find any hotels or tourist attractions in Listaros, but we do offer typical Greek village life with plenty of peace and relaxation. The more well-known towns of Matala, Pitsidia, Faistos and Agia Galini are close by and offer a good contrast with nice pubs, bars and restaurants to enjoy the nightlife.
The neighbouring village of Sivas offers tavernas, Greek coffee houses and several mini markets. Listaros offers a beautiful view of the Mesara plain, the main mountain range of Crete with the imposing Psiloritis massif as well as the sea and two small uninhabited islets.
A hire car is necessary for your holiday in Listaros. We can recommend car hire companies in our region on request.
The south coast of Crete
There are many secluded and very remote beaches in the south of Crete, most of which can only be reached by car, but which promise undisturbed bathing pleasure.
Unlike the northern coast of Crete, which is fully developed for tourism, in the south you can often still experience the original Crete with its friendly people and small villages away from mass tourism and large hotels. You will find plenty of peace and relaxation on Crete's south coast.
There is a huge range of activities for guests with sporting ambitions: Fishing, swimming, mountaineering, mountain biking, horse riding, surfing, hiking, yoga, diving and much more.
If you are interested in archaeology, you will find Gortys, Faistos, Agia Triada and some small unknown excavations in the region.
We will be happy to give you tips and information for hikes, beaches, excursions, etc.

Very nice vacation in the south of Crete
We spent a wonderful week in this holiday home as a group of four, two couples. With great weather, we naturally spent a lot of time outside, unless we were on an excursion or at the beach. The garden of this house is well-maintained and beautifully designed, with three levels featuring many cozy seating areas, most with a view of the sea - very nice sea view also from the pool and the lounging area there. The interior is also very appealing and pleasant. For a cozy evening at home with cooking, the kitchen is well equipped.
Shopping can be done at the mini markets in the area, as well as enjoying a relaxed meal in nice and good taverns in the nearby villages of Sivas, Kamilari, Kalamaki, and Pitsidia.
There is a wine bar around the corner from the house for a drink and a nice conversation.
The hostess was very friendly and sympathetic and took great care.

Dream vacation in the Garyfallia house
We spent two weeks in this dreamfully beautiful house. The house, the garden, the pool - everything was perfect. We felt completely comfortable. It couldn't be better. Susanne and Gerhard are great hosts. We will come back.

Dream vacation
The Garyfalia House and the large garden leave nothing to be desired. Everything is superbly furnished and well maintained. The pictures and texts on the internet correspond absolutely to the actual circumstances. We had a wonderful vacation.

Toller Urlaub im Haus Garyfalliá
We spent our family vacation (2 adults and 2 children - 15 and 11 years) at the Garyfalliá house. It was pure relaxation. The pictures on the internet do not promise too much. We rent a house every year and believe to have very good comparison options. About Garyfalliá, it can be said: this house is perfectly designed and furnished. It offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The rooms are all spacious, bathrooms, kitchen, and living room offer plenty of space. But more important and varied are the many outdoor seating options. All are shaded, or you can sit in the sun by the perfectly maintained pool. It was fun to just jump in and relax at any time of day or night. Susanne and Gerhard are great hosts and help wherever they can. Whether it's getting a cheap rental car, having a taxi from the airport when the flight arrives in the middle of the night instead of in the evening.

About Susanne Böhly-Wacker and Gerhard Wacker ...in 2001 we moved to Listaros with our seven things. It was supposed to be a new start, something different from what we were used to, more relaxed but exciting. By then we had spent several holidays on the island. The Messara region kept attracting us. A few conversations, new contacts, just the right property and the stunning view over the hills to the sea. That was all we needed. We lived in the house ourselves all year round from the moment we arrived on Crete. Now it has been thoroughly renovated and modernised by us with a lot of love and has been available for rent since June 2016. What makes this accommodation unique. .... thousand little things that make Listaros and Haus Garyfalliá special for us. We'll just name a few for now The sea view, the space and freedom, the openness of the people, the lightness, the salt in the air, the wonderfully simple but delicious cuisine
