Description

The flat was created as a conversion of the former kitchen of the 19th century palazzo next door, with which it now shares the stately entrance portal and the staircase behind it.
The flat is 48 square metres in size - and then there is another 45 square metres of terrace for breakfast, sunbathing or long romantic evenings in the balmy night air.
The furnishings are simple and functional, sufficient even for a longer stay of up to three people - or a couple with two children (there is a sofa bed in the living room that is suitable for an adult, but at 3.83 m long it is also suitable for 2 children).

Location and surroundings of object

The flat is an integral but separate part of a 19th century noble palace. Located on the edge of the former Jewish quarter of Cartellone, the accommodation overlooks the main sights of the city. It's only a few steps to 'the many shops and little shops, trattorias and cafés of the old town. However, the flat itself is in a quiet location, as it is not on a street accessible by car. Airports: Palermo Falcone-Borsellino and Catania Fontanarossa; from here direct bus connection with the bus company AST: Palermo - Modica 240 km via Caltanisetta - Gela; Catania Aeroporto - Modica: 100 km
Nearest long-distance train station: Siracusa; from here connecting trains to Modica.
Ports: Palermo and Catania, with ferry connections to Genoa, Livorno, Civitavecchia and Naples.
Arrival by car: Catania - Modica via Strada Statale 194 (110 km); Siracusa - Modica via Strada Statale 115 (via Avola, Noto, 70 km); the most convenient way to reach Modica from Palermo is via Catania. Modica is the former capital of one of the most important counties in Sicily. Situated in the middle of the Monti Iblei, Modica is an ideal starting point for excursions of all kinds. On the one hand, there is the countless testimonies of a cultural tradition that stretches from the Bronze Age to the Baroque period and that has produced testimonies that are as original as they are high. Nature is varied thanks to the particular geographical situation; it has long been a tradition for professional cycling to take advantage of the climatic benefits of the area. From the bird migration areas by the sea to the endless walls 'a secco' that border the fields and pastures of the plateau, everywhere one encounters a Sicily that one thought was long lost. Food culture and folklore - the processions are still numerous at almost every time of year - complete the journey back in time. The wide sandy beaches, also known in Germany through the films with 'Commissario Montalbano', are among the cleanest in Italy and yet have not yet been abandoned to mass tourism. Modica, together with the most important towns in the surrounding area, was finally officially declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003.
