Why actually? I know now why. The garages are very tight. With a Golf station wagon, it's a matter of centimeters. You don't want this stress every day. Even the parking aid shows dark red plus folding mirrors. Many residents have started their vacation sweating because of this. So it's clear that the parking permit is preferred. You are right in front of the building here and can therefore park almost anywhere in Egmond. Parking in front of the house was not a problem. On the way to the beach, you get your things from the trunk for the beach. Whether I go through the underground garage or through the front foyer doesn't make a difference, but less stress when parking. In the garage, there was a handcart, which was pleasant to use to bring the luggage up in the elevator. There are two elevators. One was defective, repair is delayed due to c19. Alkmaar is about 20 minutes from Egmond, and you can combine this with a lovely boat trip. Visit twice. Once with a cheese market. Once without. When there is a cheese market, it is very crowded in Alkmaar. Mini golf in Natuurlijk. 4 minutes walk from the apartment. Dune hikes! Right and left of the town are the entrances to the dunes. Always walk back along the beach. It's a beautiful circular route. We like to go to the dunes at Kennedyboulevard. After 30 minutes, you reach a signposted beach access with a beach bar. The path is beautiful all the way to the beach. You pass by a waterhole. We have encountered the wild horses and cattle there several times. The beach is wonderfully empty there. Only accessible on foot or by bike. Great mudflats for kids. Return trip back along the beach. :) Also, from the Schoorl Dunes Center, there are very nice signposted routes as circular trails of 10km and more...worth it. You start with a forest walk and the paths lead through different landscapes. Pit stop is the beach café pal 129. We went on the blue route with our 5-year-old son. Absolutely recommended. Day trip. Or rent a bike in Schoorl. First visit the remarkable 51-meter Klimduin. It is located in the middle of the town and is an experience for kids. Parents can enjoy time downstairs in the café. Afterwards, rent a bike and use the great cycling paths through the dunes. Beautiful beach at Hargen aan Zee. Parking lot at the beach. There is a lagoon with a great pirate play ship for kids there. Eating in Egmond - Value for money! We have discovered two places where the price is in line with German standards. Otherwise, the level is significantly above that of Germany and main courses are well above 20 euros. What the kids do not appreciate. Our recommendation: Zonnig Zuid - Schnitzel starting at 13 euros, top! Or De Parel in Egmond has a good pancake menu. Also available in the evening. You just have to ask for it separately. Great beer menu. For lunch, head to Bergen for coffee. Beautiful short car ride through the forest passing by great villas or a day trip to Den Helder. About 60 minutes driving time to Fort Kijkduin (aquarium) and Marine Museum with original submarine. The aquarium is worth visiting. Children can touch the animals in the tanks - flatfish, stingrays, and sharks. Giant whale skeleton. The Military Museum is more suitable for ages 13 and up! Could be disturbing for younger kids.
